Chapter 132 Old Friends

Chapter 132 Old Friends

"Besides Lord Ariel being seriously injured, Vala also had an accident during an outing, where he encountered knights from other kingdoms and was killed in a direct duel with them."

In a quiet courtyard, standing beside Adir, Sidru sighed softly, "He's old after all. At his age, even the seed of life can no longer sprout, so he can't compete with the other knights."

He sighed softly, a hint of sorrow in his eyes.

In fact, this is also the ultimate fate of the Cavaliers.

Knights are born to fight. From the start of training, injuries accumulate on their bodies. Each burst of life force further depletes their lifespan and potential, pushing them ever closer to death.

When a knight grows old and can no longer unleash his full potential, if he encounters another young knight, he will almost certainly die.

"Vara, are his family still alive?"

Standing there, thinking of that old man from back then, Adir sighed inwardly and spoke in the same way.

"His clansmen are still alive, and his grandsons are all in the city. I personally oversee their knight training."

Listening to Adir's words, Sidru nodded slightly and said the same thing.

"After a while, select a few people from the Vala tribe who have the qualities of knights and hand them over to me."

Looking at the scenery before him, Adir said, "I've learned some things over the past few years at the wizarding academy, and I can now share them with you."

Hearing this, Sidru was somewhat surprised. Before he could ask what it was, Adir's voice continued from in front of him: "How are Fular and Elwa now?"

He looked at Sidru in front of him and asked.

Of all the members of the Fakus family here, Adir's deepest impression was of Fular and Elwa from back then, so he asked the question now.

"Their situation... is probably not very good right now."

Standing before Adir, listening to Adir's words, Sidru gave a wry smile.

"Hmm? What's wrong?"

Adir turned around, his eyes fixed on Sidru, wanting to get an answer.

"When you left this continent, Fular and Elvar settled in the Duchy of Baron. With us taking care of them, they lived a very peaceful life."

Sensing Adir's gaze, Sidru's bitter smile remained unchanged as he quietly said, "But two years later, the war escalated, and the Duchy of Baron was caught in the crossfire, having been destroyed more than half a year ago."

"During the war, Fular stayed with Elwa. In order to protect Elwa and ensure his safe escape, he was killed by a Grand Knight."

Hearing this, Adir was speechless for a moment.

Silence fell over the spot for a moment.

"And what about Elwar?"

After a long silence, Adir finally looked up at Sidru and spoke again.

"Elwa is still alive. Thanks to Fular's desperate protection, he successfully escaped from the Duchy of Baron and is now in our city."

Looking at Adir, Sidru said, "However... he looks rather pitiful right now."

"What's wrong?" Adir frowned and asked in return.

"His left hand is broken, and his wife and children all died in the Duchy of Baron. He's almost completely broken down now," Sidru said.

Hearing this, Adir remained silent, a complex mix of emotions rising within him.

When he left the North, he had promised Count Poria that he would do his best to take care of Elva, but now that Elva had become like this, it was a betrayal of his promise.

Moreover, Elwar was also one of his few friends.

"No matter what, as long as he's alive, that's all that matters. As for his severed arm, I can reattach it."

After a long silence, he sighed softly.

For an ordinary person, if an arm is truly severed, there is naturally no hope of recovery. But for a wizard, there are still some ways to save them.

Among the knowledge Adir had previously acquired from Radel were studies and records in this area; with a few more tries, it wouldn't be impossible for Adir, with his current abilities, to reattach an arm to an ordinary person.

"There's one more thing," Sidru said again, looking at Adir beside him and hesitating for a moment.

"Recently, an epidemic has broken out in this area, and people in several countries have been infected with the epidemic."

Hearing this, Adir was taken aback: "Is it serious?"

"It's very serious." Sidru nodded. "Now the nobles in Kuma City are completely afraid to go to the commoners' area. If anyone in the city has symptoms of the plague, they will be thrown out of the city and put in a special place to be kept under guard."

"I'll see if I can handle this matter in a while."

Hearing Sidru's words, Adir said, "As for now, take me to see Lord Ariel first."

Standing in front of Adir, Sidru nodded, then walked ahead to lead the way for Adir.

They walked quickly and soon arrived at a large hall.

"How is Lord Ariel doing now?" Sidru asked as he entered the hall.

In the hall, several tall guards stood watch. The leader, a knight, reported to Sidru and Adir, "His Excellency the Duke was awake for a while, but now he seems to have fallen into a coma again."

Hearing this answer, Sidru, standing beside Adir, sighed softly and then said to the guards beside him, "You may leave now."

"Yes!" Hearing Sidru's order, the guards walked respectfully, leading the others slowly into the distance.

"Let's go in."

After everyone else had left, Sidru turned to Adir beside him and spoke.

With a slight sound, the door to the room opened.

Upon entering, an indescribable smell wafted from the surroundings.

It was an extremely foul stench, mixed with the smell of many spices, a rather nauseating combination.

Upon smelling the odor, Adir frowned slightly. Sidru, on the other hand, seemed to have gotten used to it, his face remaining expressionless.

Without saying much, Adir walked straight to the front, to the huge bed.

On the bed, Duke Arrieux lay quietly, his upper body naked, his exposed skin completely ulcerated, emitting a foul stench.

Those relatively intact skins also exhibited an abnormal red color, covered with numerous bloody red bumps, looking exceptionally horrifying and terrifying.

"Is this poisoning?"

Standing before the bed, looking at Duke Ariel's appearance, Adir frowned slightly, noticing something unusual.

In addition to the life-burst reaction, there were signs of several toxins mixed together in Duke Ariel's body. The combination of these toxins and the reaction after the life-burst resulted in a situation that even Adir found somewhat troublesome.

"How's it going? Can you handle it?" Standing beside Adir, looking at the expression on Adir's face, Sidru asked somewhat nervously.

"This is a serious problem; for an ordinary person, it's practically hopeless."

Standing still, Adir said, "However, there is still a way for wizards, it's just a bit troublesome."

"That's good." Hearing Adir's words, Sidru, who was standing to the side, immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

"Tell me immediately if you need anything."

Standing beside Adir, he said, "I can get it for you as soon as possible."

"That's not necessary."

Adir shook his head, then took out a bottle of turquoise potion from his waist: "This is a specially made potion. You can dilute it all in water and then soak Lord Ariel in it. This will help to inhibit the continued growth of toxins to some extent."

"Let's bring Lord Arieu out in three days."

Standing still, he said this.

"Okay!" Sidru nodded in response to Adir's words.

He quickly went outside, ordered his servants to bring over a huge wooden tub filled with hot water, and then poured the potion that Adir had given him into it.

The emerald green potion was slowly poured into the wooden bucket. After it was completely poured in, the water in the bucket had turned a very pale green, completely different from normal water.

After doing all this, several servants placed Duke Arrieux into a wooden tub and let him soak slowly in it.

Under Adir's perception, tiny energy particles were tightly locked inside the water in the wooden bucket before him. Along with some substances diluted in the potion, they slowly merged into Duke Ariel's body, nourishing his physique.

"When Lord Ariel wakes up in a while, remember to give him the few bottles of potions I just left."

After glancing around quietly, Adir gave instructions to the servants on guard, and then he and Sidru walked outside.

Outside, a thin figure was already waiting.

He was a young man wearing a red sleeveless shirt. Although he was still somewhat handsome, his face looked extremely pale and haggard.

Unlike the others, this young man's left hand was missing, his sleeve completely empty. He also held a cane in his right hand, and his limbs trembled just standing there, making him appear extremely weak.

"Elvar..."

Upon seeing the young man, Adir couldn't help but sigh inwardly and softly called out as he looked over.

A familiar voice called out in his ear, and immediately, Elva, who was standing in front, trembled slightly and turned around in the direction from which the voice came.

"A. Adil".

When Elva saw Adir's face, which was almost unchanged from the past, he felt a rush of heat to his eyes.

Excitement, warmth, thrill, inferiority, fear... a mix of emotions swirled within him, making his feelings extremely complex at that moment. He didn't even dare to look his old friend in the eye, and could only silently lower his head.
