Chapter 43 Turmoil 1
Chapter 43 Turmoil I
In the early morning, rays of sunlight gradually spread across the earth.
On the edge of a desolate forest, the sound of horses' hooves echoed all around.
Ahead lay a plain, and on the plain, there were obvious traces of human activity scattered throughout, which seemed impossible to conceal.
"Have we arrived?"
A middle-aged man looked at the scene in front of him and muttered to himself with a slight frown.
He wore dark white armor and rode a black horse, looking majestic and tall, like a powerful knight.
"It should be just ahead." A voice rang out beside me, responding.
It was a robust middle-aged man, who looked to be only in his thirties. He was also wearing armor and slowly rode up on horseback from behind.
Behind them, Adir followed at a leisurely pace, also observing the tracks ahead.
"Adir".
The middle-aged man turned around and looked at Adir: "Take your men and go check things out ahead first, but remember to be careful."
"Yes, Lord Gru."
Adir glanced at the middle-aged man in front of him, replied, and then slowly walked forward with the knights behind him.
The plain ahead was quiet. Although there were many traces, the people who used to live here were long gone, leaving only an empty place.
Adir took the lead, casually scanning his surroundings and examining the traces, hoping to find some useful information.
"A large number of unknown odor molecules were detected, and the results showed that the individual was an adult male."
Upon arriving at this place, the mechanical voice echoed in my mind once more.
Adir was suddenly startled by the prompt from the chip in his mind.
He looked towards the western direction in the distance and remained silent for a long time.
That's the direction indicated by the chip.
During the investigation, the group's aura spread westward, reaching all the way into the distant forest.
"Wrong direction..."
Looking in that direction, the thought arose in Adir's mind, and a glint of light flashed in his eyes.
Before setting off, he had a detailed understanding of the terrain in the area.
According to his original calculations, if the bandits wanted to escape Count Poria's territory and escape the pursuit, the best option would be to flee north.
That was the fastest and safest way to leave this territory. Whether one wanted to escape back to the border or plunder the territories of other nobles, that was the only way.
"Lord Adir, the test results are in!" A voice called out in my ear.
Adir looked in the direction the sound came from and saw a middle-aged man leading a group of people toward him.
This is his second-in-command, named Asila, who is also a powerful warrior.
"Judging from the traces at the scene, the bandits must have headed north."
Asila looked at Adir with a serious expression and spoke earnestly.
His words were met with Adir's deep gaze.
Adir looked at his deputy, his deep and calm gaze fixed on the middle-aged man, making the man almost feel uneasy.
"Go back and report to Lord Gru first. I'll stay here with my men and check things out a bit more."
He remained calm as he looked at his deputy and spoke quietly.
"This..." Asila was taken aback, a troubled look on her face, but her eyes looked to the side.
Following his gaze, Adir looked in the direction they had come from.
At this point, no one was left there; it seemed they had already returned to camp.
Seeing this, Adir looked at his deputy calmly and said, "Take the rest of you and come with me to see other places."
"What?" Asila was taken aback, not knowing what Adir meant.
"I think I just saw some figures walk by to the west. Maybe some of those bandits stayed behind and hid over there."
Adir said casually, his eyes fixed on Asila's face out of the corner of his eye.
As he revealed his intention to search westward, Adir clearly saw the color suddenly change on Asila's previously calm face.
He stood there, forcing a smile at Adir: "My lord, we have thoroughly searched this area. The bandits did indeed flee north; there's no mistake about it..."
Before he could finish speaking, he looked at Adir's calm eyes and couldn't help but smile wryly and change his mind: "Alright, if you insist, sir."
Adir nodded, raised his right hand, and slowly rode forward on his horse, seemingly preparing to explore the west.
Seeing Adir's movements, Aisila secretly made a gesture the moment he turned around, and then quickly rode her horse to follow.
As they slowly moved forward, the surrounding warriors mounted their horses and quickly chased after Adir.
They quickly traversed the spacious plain.
They crossed a small river and came to the edge of a forest, where they dismounted and walked.
Upon arriving here, numerous traces of human activity reappear, almost undisguised.
Seeing this, Adir subconsciously frowned, his attention suddenly drawn to the scene before him, and slowly walked over.
The remaining warriors moved forward and silently surrounded Adir without him noticing.

The sound of a longsword being drawn suddenly rang out, and a glint of sword light flashed in the air, faintly carrying fluctuations of life energy.
when!!
A black longsword suddenly emerged from its sheath and slammed into the longsword behind it.
"Who exactly are you, capable of using knightly secret techniques?"
In an instant, Adir suddenly turned around, his longsword already drawn, and coldly looked behind him, saying...
In front of him, a shadow fell backward rapidly, seemingly unable to withstand the force of the previous exchange, and couldn't help but take several steps back.
Looking at the boy in front of her, Asila was shocked, and a look of horror flashed in her eyes as she looked at Adir.
"Who am I? I am of course your subordinate, Lord Adir."
Not long after, upon hearing Adir's words, a cold smile appeared on his face.
"I don't recall having a knight-level lieutenant."
Adir's face remained calm, seemingly without a trace of emotion. He looked at the person opposite him, his face expressionless: "Speak, who sent you?"
On the other end, Asila didn't answer the question, but remained silent for a moment before laughing and saying, "It seems we all underestimated you."
"You've been a knight for a long time, yet you insist on pretending you just became one. What's your purpose?"
He looked at Adir in front of him, a chilling look on his face, and a hint of fear flashed in his eyes.
Clearly, Adir's strength exceeded his expectations, far surpassing the capabilities of a newly promoted knight.
This inevitably made him suspicious that Adir had actually become a knight long ago, but had been hiding it until recently.
