Chapter 606 Treatment

Chapter 606 Treatment

Early in the morning, a heavy rain had just fallen, slightly wetting the ground.

On a narrow path, several horsemen were slowly walking forward, followed by a dozen or so attendants.

Ahead, a massive, imposing castle came into view, and it seemed they were not far away.

"My lord, we are almost at Viscount Ashley's castle."

Riding at the head of the procession, Adir gazed at the imposing ancient castle in the distance. Beside him, Hilaya, who had changed into a different outfit, rode up to report.

In just a few days, all the bandit members who followed Adir had changed their clothes.

Despite his misfortune, Gruul is still a prince, even if he has lost the followers he once had. He still has a considerable amount of money on him.

Therefore, during these few days, when passing through a market, he even spent money to change the clothes of these former robbers into uniforms, trying to make them look presentable so as not to damage his and Adir's dignity.

It had just rained, and the weather outside was damp. In addition, it was winter, and the cold wind was blowing straight, making my whole body shiver.

Adir looked up and saw that in the distance, the castle gates were open, and some people were walking out of them.

It was a group of knights, at least several hundred in number, each wearing simple leather armor, surrounding one of them as they walked toward Adir and the others.

In the center of the knights, the man wore light black armor and had a long beard. Although he looked like a middle-aged man, his skin was rough and covered with large, distinctive markings, making him quite unique and unforgettable.

This man was Gruul's target this time, his father-in-law in some ways, the owner of the castle in front of them, Viscount Ashley.

As hundreds of people rushed toward him, Adir didn't seem to feel anything. However, behind him, the group of former thieves who had been subdued let out a scream. Their faces were flushed, and if you looked closely, you could see that their legs were trembling.

Adir wasn't too disappointed by their reaction.

They were just a bunch of thieves, without any formal military training or battlefield experience; in the end, they were nothing more than a rabble.

Adir had never had any expectations for this group of people from beginning to end, so he was naturally not disappointed at this moment.

However, Hiraya's behavior beside him surprised Adir.

Despite the imposing presence of hundreds of knights in the distance, the former bandit leader, though trembling slightly and appearing quite nervous, showed no sign of it on his face. He even took up his longsword and walked to Adir's side, assuming a guard's stance.

This performance was somewhat better than that of his subordinates, which made Adir nod in approval.

As the sound of trampling approached from afar, a large number of knights slowly arrived before them. Without any courtesy, they immediately formed an encirclement, completely surrounding Adir and his companions, creating a subtle encirclement.

Seeing this, Adir turned around and looked at Gruul behind him.

The visitor is not good.

If it were simply a welcoming ceremony, there would be no need to bring so many knights, nor would there be a sudden encirclement upon meeting, as if they were afraid Gruul would run away.

The number of five hundred knights was even more frightening.

The castle in front of us wasn't very big. Excluding the farmers and the like, the five hundred knights were probably the largest standing army in the castle. They had brought them all out to welcome Gruul.

Behind Adir, seeing this scene, Gruul's expression was also somewhat unpleasant. However, as he looked at the middle-aged man who was slowly revealing his figure in front of him, he quickly composed himself, laughed loudly, and walked up to him: "Haha, Viscount Ashiri, my father-in-law, it's been a long time since we last met."

“Of course, Gruul, my son-in-law.” As he watched Gruul walk towards him, Ashley smiled, his joyful and sincere expression belying his sincerity.

If it weren't for the five hundred fully armed knights surrounding them, Hiraya and the others would probably have actually believed it.

As for Adir, he sat quietly in the carriage the whole time, without saying a word, silently watching the two people in front of him, looking very silent.

He was so silent that Viscount Ashley only glanced at him before looking away, clearly treating him as an ordinary attendant.

"Gruul, my son-in-law."

Before him, Viscount Ashley smiled and looked at Gruul sincerely, saying, "A few months ago, I heard the news of your disappearance on the battlefield, and I prayed for you, worried that something might have happened to you."

"Now that I see you here with my own eyes, I can finally rest easy."

His face showed relief and joy, as if he were a father-in-law seeing his son-in-law safe and sound. He waved to Gruul and said, "Come, you must be tired after traveling all the way from Carlo. Come into my castle and rest for a while."

"Let me prepare a grand banquet for you and treat you well."

He shouted, ignoring Gruul's ugly expression behind him, and waved his hand.

Two knights stepped forward at his command, and the scout approached Gruul with a half-smile on his face: "Your Highness Gruul, please."

"Alright." Looking at the scene before him, Gruul's face was somewhat grim, but looking at Gruul standing in front of him and Adir beside him, he gritted his teeth and prepared to enter the castle in front of him.

Seeing Gruul preparing to go in, Ashley smiled.

Seeing Gruul's actions, Adir lifted his reins, preparing to follow him inside.

Two large hands suddenly reached out, stopping Adir's movements.

Before him stood two knights clad in light black armor, their faces still bearing that enigmatic smile. They looked at Adir and said, "Sorry, you cannot enter."

"His Highness Gruul is the Viscount's guest and should go inside to rest. You can rest at the camp outside the city."

From a distance, watching the two knights' actions, Gruul's expression changed, and he immediately understood what they wanted to do.

By isolating Gruul from both inside and outside the country, and cutting him off from all his followers, this was hardly the behavior of a guest; it was clearly house arrest.

The ominous premonition in his heart came true, and Gruul raised his head to look at Adir in front of him.

Now that things have come to this, his struggles are futile, and he can only place his hopes on Adir.

Adir did not disappoint him.

Gently raising his head, Adir looked at the two knights in front of him and slowly raised his sword.
