Chapter 96 The Market
Chapter 96 The Market (Bonus Chapter for 100 Monthly Tickets)
In a quiet corner, Adir quietly led his horse forward, his face calm and expressionless.
His attitude seemed to enrage the scarred man behind him, causing his face to contort in fury as he roared, "I told you to stop right there, you bastard, didn't you hear me?!"
As he finished speaking, Adir paused slightly.
He sighed inwardly, silently turned around, and looked at the scarred man behind him.
The other person's eyes were now fixed on his two horses and the luggage on them.
In a sense, this person has a good eye for talent.
Adir's horses were bought from the academy. They were a breed specially bred by some of the academy's apprentices for experiments. Although they did not have the bloodline of demonic creatures, the horses bred by wizards were absolutely excellent. In the eyes of a true connoisseur, each one was worth at least a thousand gold coins.
Although the horses had been traveling and enduring hardships for more than half a month and had not been groomed for a long time, appearing somewhat dirty and disheveled, their excellent physique remained intact, making them far superior to the warhorses of ordinary knights.
"Oh, a guy from out of town."
As Adir turned around, the scarred man's eyes lit up upon seeing his face. He licked his knife, then quickly walked up to Adir, a sinister smile spreading across his face: "You give me..."
bump!!
Before he could finish speaking, he was sent flying backward, spitting out a mouthful of blood, before crashing heavily to the ground.
"you!!"
He kept spitting out blood, and a dent suddenly appeared in his chest. He managed to lift his head and looked at Adir in disbelief.
"Boss Sith!!"
Seeing his condition, his two accomplices behind him exclaimed in surprise and quickly stepped forward to help him up, looking at Adir with some fear.
By now, they realized they had misjudged him. The seemingly frail boy in front of them was clearly a powerful warrior, at least at the level of a knight apprentice, someone they could not possibly provoke.
Looking at their appearance, Adir casually glanced around.
In front of the hotel, a blonde girl and a middle-aged woman quickly ran to the middle-aged man who had fallen earlier. They carefully helped him up while looking expectantly in Adir's direction, as if they were waiting for something.
To their disappointment, Adir merely glanced around indifferently before leading his horse silently to the other side, showing no intention of dealing with the men.
Adir had no intention of meddling in other people's business. The reason he took action earlier was because the other party had provoked him.
As for the scarred man, to avoid trouble, Adir did not kill him immediately. Although he was knocked away, he did not appear to be seriously injured and would be able to move again after a while.
But in reality, Adir had shattered some of the opponent's organs in that punch. Although he looked fine on the outside, he would still die in a dozen days.
However, by then, Adir had already left the city.
Quietly leaving that corner, Adir soon found a new mentor.
Led by the other party, Adir arrived at a hotel that looked much more spacious and checked in directly.
That night, he left the city alone and came to an abandoned village in the wilderness.
"There's a faint fluctuation of magical energy; this must be it."
Sensing the faint fluctuations emanating from the village, Adir nodded, put away the map in his hand, and went straight inside.
Stepping inside, a strange sense of haziness arises, accompanied by a faint light and a large amount of chaotic information.
"A hallucination?" Adir muttered to himself, sensing the changes around him.
A small-scale witchcraft array has been set up in this village. If ordinary people pass by and choose to go into the village, they will fall into an illusion.
As for wizard apprentices, because their mental strength is much stronger than that of ordinary people, they are not affected by these simple illusions even without targeted methods.
Before long, Adir reached the center of the village.
There, a point of light flickered and pulsated, appearing to be the effect of a spell.
This was both for illumination and to deliberately emit magical fluctuations to alert passing apprentices.
"A spell that condenses light energy particles through a specific structural combination."
Looking at the several clusters of light around him, Adir's face showed an expression of interest: "Although they have no destructive power, they can continuously emit faint magical fluctuations, and this continues for a long time."
After observing the spell, he then turned his gaze to the side.
Beside the flames was a staircase leading downwards, its destination unknown.
Looking at the staircase, Adir went straight down it.
A light shone along the way, and soon Adir reached the end of the stairs, where two apprentices stood.
"Welcome, unfamiliar apprentice."
Looking at Adir, the apprentice in front spoke up: "This is the market of the Sivara family. When trading here, you must abide by basic rules."
"I see."
Adir nodded and then walked inside.
As you enter, the surrounding light begins to brighten, and there are people walking around.
Standing still, Adir observed his surroundings for a while and found that the quality of the apprentices here was significantly lower than that of those in the academy.
Most of the people walking around were first-class apprentices, while second-class apprentices made up only a small portion of the group.
As for the third-class apprentices, Adir glanced around and saw that among the twenty-odd apprentices around him, only the radiation emanating from the old man in the red robe barely reached the third-class level; the rest were far from it.
However, Adir didn't care about this and went straight inside.
There are some shops open up ahead, selling all sorts of valuable things.
However, what left Adir somewhat speechless was that most of the items sold there were unrelated to wizards. There were very few materials and resources that could be used by wizards, and most of them were more expensive than those in the academy.
This is also related to the surrounding environment.
Although the Duchy of Allen is vast, there are no wizarding organizations within its borders; most of the wizards are from various schools of thought, or even wild wizards.
Without the existence of wizarding organizations, many resources cannot be produced stably, and the prices of some things will naturally rise.
Nearby, Adir saw some lower-ranking apprentices whispering among themselves, seemingly mentioning the Uraldo Academy in their conversation.
Upon hearing this, his expression changed, and he walked directly to the corner and grabbed a first-class apprentice who looked very thin.
"Hello, I think I just heard you talking about Uraldo Academy. Is there anything wrong there?"
Walking up to the apprentice, Adir smiled, took out a magic stone with his right hand, and asked the other person.
Across from him, the apprentice was a little stunned when he saw Adir suddenly grabbing him, but he quickly reacted when he saw the magic stone Adir handed him.
"You still don't know?"
Taking the magic stone, the apprentice looked at Adir with surprise: "This matter has already spread far and wide, and you knew nothing about it?"
"I'm sorry, I'm a wizard of a certain school. I've been learning from my teacher in a deserted area until recently."
Looking at the other person, Adir's expression remained unchanged as he explained.
"Alright!" The apprentice shrugged at Adir's words and then explained to him, "Some time ago, a wizarding secret realm left over from the Glorious Era was discovered in the dividing area between the Southern Continent and the Northern Plains. It is said to be nearly ten thousand years old."
"After negotiations, several wizarding organizations, including Uraldor Academy, House of Achura, and Chimodoro Academy, decided to open the secret realm. It is said that any apprentice below the level of a formal wizard can enter, and the resources obtained through exploration only need to pay half of the cost, with the rest being theirs."
He paused, then said with some regret, "This matter has already spread throughout the area, and apprentices from all over are heading towards those academies. If I weren't currently busy advancing to the second-class apprentice level, I might have gone to take a look too."
Do you have any other questions?
At this point, he looked at Adir and asked.
"Is there anywhere here where I can exchange spell templates?" Adir asked in return.
"Spell templates? Those are treasures of every school of thought, how could they be traded so easily?"
When asked about spell templates, the apprentice shook his head repeatedly: "However, there is a small auction house in the center of the market. Occasionally, some valuable items are auctioned there, and spell templates might be among them."
"However, to enter the center of the market, one must be at least a second-class apprentice, or present items of sufficient value."
"Thanks." Hearing this, Adir nodded, then turned around and walked towards the center of the market.
This underground area is quite large. It took Adir quite a while to get here and to another large door.
"Apprentice, please show your credentials."
Two apprentices dressed in black and red robes stood there. Upon seeing Adir's figure in the distance, one of them stepped forward and spoke.
Adir remained silent, instead releasing the fluctuations of his magical power.
The two men guarding the camp were also second-class apprentices. Upon sensing the magical fluctuations emanating from Adir, they immediately opened the gate and allowed Adir to enter.
"I hope this place won't disappoint me, given that we have two second-class apprentices guarding the gate."
As he stepped inside, sensing the presence of the two apprentices outside, Adir murmured to himself.
Compared to the outside world, there are far fewer apprentices here, but their quality has improved dramatically. Second- and third-class apprentices now make up the majority, while first-class apprentices have become extremely rare.
There are other shops around, but the items sold here are significantly more valuable than those outside.
After wandering around for a while, Adir entered the only apothecary among them.
