Chapter 1003 King of Pranks

Chapter 1003 The King of Pranks (First Update)

Just as Salomon had predicted, Lorna looked bitter upon learning she was to be forced to attend the social season, and even the meal Diana had painstakingly prepared failed to pique her interest. This London-originating social custom was being revived among New York's artists, but in a more affected manner. There were no horse races, regattas, opera festivals, tennis tournaments, flower shows, or court balls; instead, there were only celebrities under the spotlight, postmodern art, the cacophony of camera shutters, loud-voiced journalists, and increasingly tasteless and politically correct fashion shows—a complete departure from the theme of elegance, perfectly embodying the British stereotype of Americans.

But that wasn't all that annoyed little Lorna. The real thing was having to wear dresses to those occasions. She didn't want to be seen with those socialites in custom-made gowns; little Lorna felt she could see right through their empty heads—it was just too stupid.

"We can wear adventure suits and bring folding shovels to a social dinner!" Salomon's suggestion made little Lorna's eyes light up. She knew her brother still had some mischievous ideas up his sleeve. If there were any children in the orphanage who were the most skilled at pranks, it would be Salomon. Although he was usually well-behaved, when he got into mischief, no one could compare. Taking little Lorna to rob S.H.I.E.L.D. funds was just one of his countless pranks—plus, he attended the prestigious Eton College and was in charge of the cane, naturally making him a frequent target of his classmates' pranks. However, his methods were constantly evolving in the competition with his classmates, quickly approaching the level of the famous prankster, Horace Deville Cole. He even managed to escape unscathed each time, picking up the cane again to teach those classmates who had tried to prank him a lesson.

Little Lorna couldn't wait to hear what good ideas Salomon had.

"We can go to Tanzania to chase the migrating wildebeest; it's the start of the migration now. We can drive a jeep, grab a few guns to deal with poachers, and bring some shovels to dig up elephant dung. We'll wash the shovels and use them to roast meat," Salomon said mischievously to Lorna. "Believe me, if we live in the wild for a week and film an adventure documentary, it will be shown at the event. After the film, we'll be transported by plane to the dinner party to show everyone all the work we've done in Africa. They'll have to endure the stench of elephant dung on us while praising our contributions to animal conservation."

"They won't dare cover their noses!" Little Lorna exclaimed excitedly; she knew Salomon wouldn't disappoint her. Her appetite returned, and she stuffed a piece of salmon sushi made by Diana into her mouth, swallowed it quickly, and said, "After they watch us cook with shovels that have been used to shovel elephant dung, I'm going to kiss everyone who shakes our hand! Oh my god, I can't wait to see their reactions; it'll be hilarious! They definitely won't dare refuse!"

“We can unload all the goats from the transport plane,” Salomon said, stuffing a small piece of fish into the mouth of the girl beside him. She chewed the cold fish like it was jelly and swallowed it. The sorcerer Zhang Ka gestured to Lorna with both hands, “Imagine over a hundred goats rushing straight to the buffet, chasing reporters and celebrities around… I can picture goats carrying socialites’ dresses and those pretentious Silicon Valley elites being tossed around by their rear ends. Let me see the guest list… Oh, I’m sure it’ll be quite interesting that day. Those meticulously dressed celebrities will hate me. Especially the Kardashian sisters; I’m really looking forward to seeing goats chasing after these vulgar nouveau riche trying to add value to themselves with art. Ms. Minerva’s guest list is perfect.”

It wasn't that Salomon viewed American celebrities with prejudice; rather, he genuinely disliked their vulgarity. Take the Kardashian family, for example—Salomon felt that even speaking to them lowered his own standards. He truly admired talented people, those who commanded his respect. For instance, he subtly arranged for the famous singer Taylor Swift to sit in a spot untouched by the goat, where Pepper Potts, who was there to show her support, was also present.

The scene was so ridiculous that Lorna almost burst into laughter just imagining it; she even slammed her forehead on the table, making the silver cutlery clatter and rattle. The girl who had just swallowed the fish was also giggling, though she didn't understand what the others were laughing at; she just found it amusing that everyone was laughing. Salomon carefully observed the girl's eyes, scrutinizing the silk ribbon inlaid with sophisticated instruments and mysterious circuits. When the girl's emotions fluctuated intensely, a hint of wariness inadvertently flashed in the corner of his eye. Bayonetta noticed this and deliberately nudged Salomon's ankle under the table, signaling him not to be too obvious. Perhaps because her time with Lorna a few days ago hadn't been pleasant, she now decided to ignore teenage rebellion for now and start learning from human infants, believing it would be helpful for her future parenting career.

"That would be huge news! We'd definitely be the stars of the show! And I'd even wear the animal skins I skinned!" Little Lorna's laughter was like a goose's quack—a vulgar act that the elegant Athena would never tolerate. She was now truly appreciating the advantages of living at the Oxfordshire Manor. The rules here were far less strict than on Mount Athena or at the private school. Only Bayonetta was a bit strict; as long as she crossed the rules, no one else would bother her.

The animal skin that little Lorna was referring to was actually opossum skin. This craft is still a bit difficult for modern people, and Minerva didn't force her to learn it. However, little Lorna seemed to have a special fondness for this dirty craft. She even asked Salomon for advice and tried several times before she finally managed to peel off a complete skin with a small knife and hand it to the tanner.

"Whenever they remember that party, they'll remember the pain of being gored on the rear by a goat, and us too," said Lorna, holding up her fork. "From now on, we're the bullies of New York society! Nobody dares mess with us! We'll never be invited to any social event! It's fantastic!"

"As long as you can endure Lady Minerva's punishment, I doubt she'll give you a kind look. And I think she'll either twist the goat's head off on the spot, or yours—you'd better hope for the former. She's not a woman with a good temper," Joan of Arc said expressionlessly, throwing cold water on their hopes. She even exaggeratedly bit off a small carrot smeared with cream, her white teeth conveying a malicious warning. Joan's words implied something Salomon was unaware of, though the sorcerer couldn't yet understand why she said that. "If I were you, I would never provoke her. Salomon, I won't kiss you until you've brushed your teeth a thousand times after eating that stuff with a shovel."

"One hundred times is enough, a thousand times is too harsh," Bayonetta said, blinking. "Besides, I like the taste of mint toothpaste."

"You'll spoil him rotten, Ceresia!"
