Chapter 1027 & Chapter 1023: Decapitation Operation - Budapest

Chapter 1027-1023 Decapitation Operation - Budapest (First Update)

On the assault transport ship bound for Budapest, Salomon quickly recovered after a brief period of emotional distress.

He pulled up the war briefings provided by satellite reconnaissance and began to review them, repeatedly confirming whether his strategic expectations aligned with the development of the war situation, and calmly adjusting the allocation of supplies and handling of wartime logistical needs. Not long ago, Viktor von Dum had said that he viewed war as a mathematical problem composed of shells, bullets, fuel, and blood. Now, this description seemed remarkably accurate. The reason why the war initiated by the Immortal City had gained the upper hand was that the Immortal City had leveraged its greatest advantage to push the war into a high-end arms race. This was a war puzzle that could be solved with mathematics.

The Immortal City's war against Hungary, much like the 1991 Gulf War, was a new type of war characterized by overwhelming air and electronic superiority. However, the Immortal City relied more heavily on beyond-visual-range long-range strikes because Salomon needed to achieve victory as quickly as possible, unlike the US military in Iraq which had ample time for large-scale air strikes. To this end, he spared no expense, rapidly depleting war material reserves. Years of accumulated wealth were being poured out like a flood, and even Stephanie Malik had to take anti-anxiety medication to cope.

The three air bases of Papó, Keczemette, and Solnok have been completely destroyed by missiles carrying multiple warheads. The transport helicopter battalion, the combat helicopter battalion, the first air defense missile group, and the second air defense missile group have all been destroyed. The L-band solid-state active phased array 3D radar RAT-31DL used by the first radar center in Bekesaba, the second radar center in Medina Medina, and the third radar center in Bankut also suffered heavy damage. The hypersonic missiles used by the Immortal City are beyond the interception capabilities of current human military technology. Hungary is still using the air defense system deployed by the Soviet Union during the Cold War, which is powerless against the technological superiority of the Immortal City. This provides great convenience for the Immortal City to airdrop mechanized infantry.

Because extraterrestrial transportation was considered from the outset, the Martian Foundry adopted a modular design, and many armored vehicles used by the Immortal Cities share the same chassis. After removing the crew compartment and most of the weaponry, the assault transport ships can deploy the armored vehicles used by genetically modified warriors to the front lines to strike the remnants of the Hungarian armed forces who are moving away, thus providing the necessary conditions for Salomon and the Imperial Guard to carry out decapitation strikes.

The flashing markers on the data panel drew Salomon's attention away from the logistical data and onto the file.

The transport pod, manufactured by the Martian foundry, had been used in the campaign to destroy the Skrull military base and in the Battle of Fimbulwinter, and Salomon was quite satisfied with its performance. Now, the pod was flying from the space station towards Budapest. Technicians on the space station reported that, after meticulous calculations, the assault transport ship's arrival time over Budapest would coincide with the pod's arrival time—another mathematical problem with a perfect solution. Following each step of the war plan, Salomon was pleased with the feeling of having everything under control. However, he also reminded himself not to become complacent; this would only make his tactics too easy to predict, and sometimes, tactical planning didn't require excessive rationality.

As for why missiles weren't used to target and eliminate Hungarian government buildings, it's because Hungary's current state has many complex historical reasons. The Immortal City cannot simply replace the current Fidesz government under Viktor Orbán to reform Hungary. The Soviet Union did this before, and the results are written in history books. The Immortal City will absolutely not repeat that mistake. Although the Immortal City launched military strikes against Hungary, all military operations were directed against NATO. Basic industrial and public infrastructure within Hungary remained untouched, minimizing civilian casualties as much as possible. This provides a foundation for cooperation.

At a seminar held by the Ministry of the Interior, Stephanie Malik argued that the Orbán government came to power because Hungary, after joining the EU, not only failed to benefit but also sacrificed its own interests to satisfy the greed of Western European oligarchs. A large number of urban youth migrated abroad, and the lower and middle classes voted to put the conservative Orbán on the throne. While both Hungary and the Immortal City oppose neoliberalism, there is still room for cooperation between them. In some ways, the war could even be seen as an opportunity for the Orbán government—the Immortal City's actions could help Hungary completely break free from the EU's economic constraints, reclaim businesses held by Western European capital, and thoroughly eliminate domestic opposition through constitutional amendments or violent means. The Immortal City needs to help the Orbán government make a firm decision to follow a path of anti-populism, building a community with a shared future for mankind, and restricting liberalized capitalism.

Latvia will eventually begin its development after merging with Sylkalia and Transylvania, at which point the stability of the surrounding region will become crucial. Therefore, the Immortal City must help the Orbán government address the interests of the lower and middle classes of workers and farmers, and provide technical support to Hungary. Only in this way can Latvia gain a solid and reliable ally—the Immortal City. In other words, Latvia needs to demonstrate its strong military power to Hungary, acting as a giant wielding a warhammer to break all shackles. At that time, a political alliance in Southeast Europe will be built centered on Latvia, a country in dire need of reconstruction and facing a huge manpower shortage, rather than one dominated by EU liberal economic oligarchs represented by foreign tycoons and domestic oligarchs.

Salomon knew very well that this war, instigated by Latvinia, wouldn't last long. The war's outcome could very well be him leading his genetically modified warriors and Imperial Guard to the White House, using the descendants of major financial families as hostages to force the Western military-industrial complex to surrender; or he could directly order Void Fighters to destroy all NATO's communication satellites, completely paralyzing the entire military alliance and reducing it to World War II-era levels; or he could demonstrate superior force projection capabilities and unparalleled decapitation strikes, ending the war by crippling the enemy's entire organizational structure. In fact, he already held the leverage to force the entire international community to back down; now it was just a matter of how to play his cards. The initial satellite destruction plan was merely a small part of a larger plan, a cog in a vast war machine.

The only path to peace is war. Negotiations have begun, and both sides are using artillery shells and missiles.

He will not stay in Hungary for long; this is a pre-planned step.

After today, Viktor von Dum will replace him to stabilize the situation at home, while Salomon himself will lead this group of genetically modified warriors deep into Europe, coordinating with the Skysword space station's satellite missile pods and void warfare capabilities to launch rapid strikes against all NATO military facilities. He must also demonstrate to the outside world that this is only a small part of Latvian war potential, as the United States has passed the Emergency Intervention Act and intends to take action against Latvian in the near future. His war plan for invading Hungary only has six hours, three of which are spent negotiating with the Orban government.

Even if this is just a bluff, due to the Immortal City's electronic warfare advantage, the intelligence systems of most countries in the world still cannot figure out Latvinia's true strength. After striking NATO, Salomon will go directly to the United Nations headquarters in New York. Although he knows that most countries will not invite him, Stephanie has still prepared a speech for him at the United Nations. At that time, he will announce to the world the alien fleet detected by the Immortal City and urge all countries to join forces.

This will be his last attempt to urge the human race to unite through peaceful means.

The assault transport boats switched to hovering mode at their designated location, concealing themselves at near-cloud level above the target city. They bypassed Hungary's still-capable armored formations and reserves, launching a direct decapitation strike against Hungary's organizational structure—a tactic few countries in the world could withstand.

Salomon stood up from his seat with a solemn expression, gripping the bomb gun and the holy sword in his hands.

He walked towards the ramp hatch and watched as the transport pod, its recoil engines activated, landed like a giant meteor on the outskirts of Budapest. Four war machines, each twenty meters tall, sped out of the open hatch and strode towards the sun-drenched city of Budapest. Except for the assault transport boats responsible for transporting armored vehicles, all the other aircraft opened their rear hatches. The genetically modified soldiers, donning turbojet-powered flight packs and wielding explosive guns and chainsaws, were ready to land in Budapest and launch an attack.

The assault transport boats swooped down like whales falling into the sea.
