Chapter 1082 Chapter 1078 The Cause of Justice

Chapter 1082-1078 The Cause of Justice (Second Update)

After lunch, Salomon left the penthouse with the Mind Stone. Wanda Maximoff's mood had noticeably improved. She would rest for a day and then travel to the Immortal City via a portal with a genetically locked key located in the apartment. Teleportation was somewhat difficult for her, and to avoid any horrific accidents, the portals she used were all personally constructed by Salomon. Wanda Maximoff even joked that if her destination was the fireplace in the Immortal City, it would be even more like the Harry Potter series. As for Pietro Maximoff, he promised to go to the Immortal City to work with his blood relative tomorrow. Tonight, he would return to the Avengers headquarters to pack his bags and then have a low-key farewell party with the agents who had worked with him on low-level security missions (which were currently the only missions he could perform, as his training wasn't finished and he could only assist the local police in apprehending criminals).

Wanda repeatedly warned him not to reveal his purpose, and although Pietro readily agreed, Wanda remained somewhat uneasy. She firmly believed that her brother would get drunk and make a mistake, leaking information, until Pietro brought up his past experiences living in Sokovia, repeatedly explaining that his past performance was quite reliable. Only then did Wanda slightly relent and allow Pietro to join the revelry he desired.

"This is the Mind Stone," Salomon said, showing his trophy to his foster mother.

From the very beginning, the Avengers, or rather Vision, were not the primary target. Whether retrieving or destroying the Mind Stone, both would utterly thwart the Dark Tyrant Thanos's ambitions. Salomon had already secured victory in this impending war. Now that the Mind Stone was in his possession, it was less a source of energy and more a key to the highest authority in the universe, allowing glimpses into its mysteries. Even a few Aether particles could propel the alchemical technology of the Immortal City to new heights. Salomon intended to use the stone to stabilize the combat psionicists joining his army, or combine it with the Enchantress of Asgard's ongoing mission, increasing the success rate of his most important future plan.

Athena curiously picked up the Mind Stone and held it up to the sunlight to admire it.

The Olympian gods had never encountered such a cosmic treasure, but for Athena, the Mind Stone wasn't particularly essential. She was content with her current life, aware of the consequences of possessing it, and foresaw its importance in the future—perhaps the future of the entire human race depended on it. She now had to admit the Sorcerer Supreme was right; her adopted son, through various educational methods, was ruthless in achieving his goals. If she were to clash with him over the Mind Stone, Salomon might not show any mercy. She flicked her finger, tossing the Mind Stone back into the safe, and sullenly sat down on the sofa covered in thick bearskin.

"There is a yogurt in the refrigerator; it's a gift for the Master."

Salomon couldn't understand why his foster mother's mood had become so bad; even his gift couldn't cheer her up. The bear pelt was a gift he gave to Athena, from one of the black bears he hunted with a javelin. He hadn't used any firearms, because only in this way could he perfectly showcase the martial arts Athena had taught him—of course, the remaining bear samples were added to the Immortal City's biological gene bank, where they were rapidly cloned through genetic modification and artificial wombs. The bear cubs living in the Oxfordshire manor were the initial products of the biological laboratory, possessing higher intelligence and greater strength. The biological gene bank contained both plant and animal genes, its main purpose being the rapid restoration of the ecological environment. It was one of tens of thousands of sub-projects within the Earth's terraforming project, including some rather outrageous creations; the bear cubs, for example, had a talent for causing chaos far surpassing their peers.

He said half-jokingly, "Do I get one too? I've been feeling a bit indigestion lately."

Athena rolled her eyes and pointed to the refrigerator.

"The mess you've made has emptied half the supermarkets in New York City. If it weren't for Hecate's fresh goat milk air-freighted in, you wouldn't be getting any of this," she said. "You'd better figure out how to solve the orphanage's food supply problem, or you'll see!"

“Don’t worry, I still have a few ports in New York that I can use. Just make a list, and someone will deliver it to your door tomorrow. I’ll tell those guys to leave the guns outside the orphanage and pick a few untattooed, friendly-looking guys to move things, so they won’t scare the kids,” Salomon said, shoveling some yogurt into his mouth. “Wilson Fisk has gotten bolder and bolder since sending Vanessa abroad, but thankfully he’s still quite obedient now, and he has a good relationship with the New York State legislators. From him, I can learn about the current state of the American trade environment and the plans of the American elite. So far, Wilson Fisk seems quite useful.”

"He won't stay subservient for long; he's ambitious."

"It doesn't matter. It's a replaceable position anyway. A single explosive round will solve the problem." Salomon licked his spoon, looking less like he was discussing the life or death of one person and the living standards of thousands, and more like a diner focused on enjoying a delicious meal. "Wilson Fisk knows this too. He knows he can't rely on Vanessa's and your relationship, so he's trying to become irreplaceable. I admire his efforts, but unfortunately, the path he's taken isn't that important to me. No matter how big your ambition is, it can't escape objective laws. Even if I don't kill him, the moment he loses his usefulness to the upper echelons, there will be plenty of people who want him dead. The essence of the mafia is the toilet of the upper elite, doing dirty work for those who benefit from it."

Athena placed her hand on his shoulder and said tentatively, "Let's restore order to New York, Salomon. People are dying every day."

"This doesn't sound like something you'd normally say." Salomon turned to face Athena. "The root cause of social disorder isn't me, but whether the American elite and capital want to continue trading on Wall Street. Plasma cannons can destroy Wall Street, but they can't destroy online trading. As long as American capital doesn't consider the trading environment safe, and the elite want to stop capital outflow, New York society will never return to peace. A Wall Street without value is irrelevant to them; they can find other places to trade. How can you be blinded by such a simplistic view?"

"This is just a test of your resolve," Athena said nonchalantly, lying back down. "You're in a bad situation right now, aren't you? Why not choose the simplest way to solve the problem, instead of spending time and effort gradually destroying the order established by the elite class, and then replacing it with your own?"

"While I look down on mainstream American evangelicals and the prosperity gospel on television, I know that those people have the strongest conviction to defend the country. Liberals are just a bunch of loose sand; they advocate extreme freedom, are hostile to those who benefit from the status quo while simultaneously protecting them. Conservatives and liberals are not that different; liberals also believe that wealth represents wisdom and virtue. The only difference is that conservative voters truly believe in the American Dream, and they are willing to defend this ideal. Therefore, retired military and police personnel make up the majority of conservative voters. If I don't destroy the American Dream from the fundamental cultural and practical levels, then the great ideal of 'Unified Truth,' which unites humanity under a common destiny, cannot be implemented. I am simultaneously confronting Europe and America, and even the entire world, on both material and spiritual levels. I must prove that 'Unified Truth' is the path for humanity's future, even though it is only a stage-specific theory, it is enough to propel the human race to the stars."

"so what?"

"So I will actively promote Protestant broadcast theology and evangelicalism in the United States. After all, the higher you climb, the harder you fall. Only when Americans realize that neither the Democratic nor the Republican Party can represent America will they remember that they have another option, another powerful one," Salomon said with a smile. "I haven't forgotten the Cambridge Five. My goal is to unite humanity into a community of shared destiny. They will believe that this is the most just cause in the world because an alien fleet invasion is imminent, and a community of shared destiny will become a racial consensus. This is the tool I created to temporarily free Latvia from the laws of objective reality. In fact, some people are already thinking this way; the intelligence agencies are in contact with several professors at Yale University."
