Chapter 1171 Traditional Methods

Chapter 1171 Traditional Methods (Second Update)

The Sorcerer Supreme shoved Sherlock Holmes, along with a wheelchair and a plethora of medical equipment, through the portal. When Holmes awoke, he would find himself amidst snow-capped mountains, thousands of miles from storm-swept Romania—provided he knew he had been near Romania, though no one expected him to possess such common sense. He would be unaware that the place he had been in reeked of the lingering stench of burning propellant and the putrid mixture of dismembered organs and bodily fluids. He was about to be exposed to knowledge unlike anything he had ever received, a knowledge that would reshape his perception of the world.

Emperor Latvian didn't waste much time on him; Kamar-Taj could make even the most stubborn people aware of the cruelty of the world and the threats it faced, and educate generation after generation of sorcerers to dedicate themselves to it like martyrs. Undeniably, history has often seen sorcerers unwilling to take responsibility and only wanting to live ordinary lives, but none of these individuals escaped the Sorcerer Supreme's notice.

In the eyes of the Latvian Emperor, Sherlock Holmes and Stephen Strange, both born into the middle class, were likely to become like the latter due to their ingrained mindsets, resisting new knowledge with their sophisticated and self-serving thought patterns. If possible, he hoped the Sorcerer Supreme would use more traditional educational methods; the cane had far more uses than most people imagined. If even this couldn't change their narrow-minded perspective, then their final fate wouldn't be to return to human society but to simply discard them.

"Look at them, look at these idiots."

Company Commander Aparisha once again stood before this building, considered by most ordinary people to be the heaviest, his heavy combat boots clattering on its white staircase as he entered the marble-paved hall. Last time, he hadn't ventured deep into the building, but rather stood beside the glorious emperor as a witness to the enemy leader's surrender. This time, the anxious politicians were driven out in droves from this magnificent building, constructed with 480 chandeliers, 1409 ceiling lights and mirrors, and 1,000,000 cubic meters of marble and 900,000 cubic meters of timber.

Medical teams frequently entered and exited the building, providing medical services to the politicians who had miraculously survived.

Company Commander Aparisha and his guards, like sheep being counted by a flock of politicians, meticulously reviewed the arrest list. They then checked the data boards of the First Secret Regiment and the company to see which fools had attempted to resist and were subsequently killed by bombs and laser weapons. The Regent could not allow too many deaths in the arrests; most of those on the list had to undergo public trials. Only then would the civilians standing in the square outside proclaim that they had received justice, extinguishing any potential rebellion that might erupt within Romania if tensions were to escalate.

"Their greed has angered the Emperor. They know the day of judgment for their sins will eventually come, yet instead of trying to escape, they are attempting to rally forces against the Emperor." Aparisha shook his head at the politicians' folly and was annoyed at how easily the common people in the square were swayed. "These people actually think that the articles they publish online can preserve their positions. What kind of folly makes them believe they can do that?"

He didn't activate his double-bladed battle axe, for the enemies here weren't worth it; the data tablet was far more useful than the axe. He didn't want to swing it at civilians if he could, for it was utterly dishonorable. "Leave this to the Regent's dogs," he told his guards bluntly. "The Emperor needs men to do the dirty work, and those hyena-like secret regiment soldiers are perfect for it. The Romanians once rebelled over a false rumor of machine gun fire on protesters; when they encounter real guns, they're doomed."

The remnants of the First Expansion War hadn't been completely eradicated, and the damaged building walls from the raider armored vehicles weren't fully repaired. After the Fire Knights and the First Secret Service sealed off the area, the scene of the politicians' imagined assault on the front lines didn't materialize. Officials from the Ministry of the Interior's Administrative Council had arrived; with the help of the First Secret Service, they would scan all the paper documents in the building and compile the information stored on all the hard drives. The Ministry of the Interior's official statement was that the Emperor's promise of Romanian autonomy had been revoked because the Emperor had discovered corruption and darkness that shouldn't exist in a civilized society. To completely liberate Romania, the government had to thoroughly purge the Romanian political system.

This argument garnered support from many proletarians outside the capital, Bucharest, while the majority of those gathered around the parliament building were middle-class residents of the city, primarily students from the University of Bucharest. They chanted slogans but were terrified of the armored vehicles and gun barrels of the Hellfire Knights.

Aparisha looked out from the terrace, her modified eyes, sharp as a hawk's, fixed on a figure in the back of the protest crowd—a man in a red vest holding an unlit Molotov cocktail. Hidden within this protest were many individuals with ulterior motives, specially trained to escalate conflict during protests. Even though the First Secret Service had secretly arrested many before the operation began, and further arrested through their funding, the area was too heavily infiltrated. Any member of the middle class could potentially access external funding, and the intelligence agency's mission to assassinate the foreign instigators couldn't be completed so quickly.

"How foolish! Do they think we're some kind of ordinary soldiers?" Aparisha pointed at the man, marking him in the data center, and simultaneously issued orders to the company's armored units. This time, the armored personnel carriers he brought were equipped with flamethrowers for attacking personnel, rather than laser cannons for attacking armor, as sidearms. "Once that Molotov cocktail is thrown, tensions will definitely escalate immediately. I don't want my soldiers to act like weak, ordinary people when that happens, understand?"

"I suggest we let the First Secret Regiment handle this," the guard captain said, pointing out the window. "Look, they've already made their move."

The soldiers of the First Classified Regiment, positioned beside the blockade line, had already locked onto the man. Instead of using their own laser weapons to burn him through, they shone numerous civilian laser flashlights on the man holding a Molotov cocktail. The primary use of these civilian laser flashlights was for target identification, but the First Classified Regiment did not use them. Instead, they repeatedly burned the man's eyes and skin with low-power lasers, causing the man, who was trying to approach the blockade line and was about to throw the Molotov cocktail, to flee in panic within seconds.

This scene was captured by cameras mounted high up on the building and broadcast on all Romanian news channels along with the protesters' actions of burning cars and vandalizing shops. This prevented any rumors from taking root and conveyed the message to people outside the capital that the protesters were rioters disrupting public order. Simultaneously, the regent issued several decrees targeting those who had been bribed to spread rumors. The regent promised that the trial would be public and that new law enforcement would take over order in the capital, criminally punishing anyone spreading rumors on social media.

"As it turns out, force cannot get everything done."

Company Commander Aparisha chuckled and complained, "Damn it, you guessed right again."

"I think we have plenty of opportunities. There will always be people who want to die and then claim that we committed the atrocities. My memories from before becoming a Hell Knight tell me that I once helped the CIA use the same methods."

The captain of the guard spoke of the past with remarkable nonchalance. In fact, after the mind-altering process, past memories were like watching a movie to the genetically modified warriors—completely devoid of resonance. They valued their present honor as soldiers far more. Pointing to the smoking cars behind the protesters, the captain said, "I'm well aware of the enemy's next propaganda offensive. Fortunately, the Emperor has already taken measures to control the media; otherwise, our work might have been much more complicated. I believe the Regent's next order will be for us to cooperate with the intelligence department to eliminate those hiding among the protesters. We will eventually have the opportunity to pull the trigger, only the targets will be different."
