Marvel Magic Case Files
Chapter 1244, Chapter 1240: Wizards and Bombs
Chapter 1244 (First Update)
There are about three hundred wizards gathered at the Temple of Vatum. These people possess a large number of secret texts and communicate frequently. They play a pivotal role in the progress and exploration of the entire magical world. The people standing here now cover almost all the leaders of the magical schools on Earth that are recognized by Kamar-Taj. The Kamar-Taj Library also preserves some of the spells and magical philosophical works of these schools.
They were draped in black cloaks and hooded, yet the Emperor could discern their faces hidden in the shadows. Some had been conversing with him at the dinner table, while others were merely acquaintances, but whether he knew them or not would not affect the outcome of this matter.
Compared to the rampant illegal wizards and cultists, these people are quite law-abiding, yet they still cause a lot of trouble. They lack the ability and the will to purge the fallen from their own schools, which continuously produce cultists and even maintain close ties with some fallen wizarding organizations and black magic creature groups. Moreover, some of these schools' experiments are shockingly dangerous, such as binding extradimensional beings into human bodies and forcing them to reveal knowledge and secrets through torture. Such experiments were banned hundreds of years ago, but driven by curiosity and desire, some people still tirelessly conduct them again and again.
Every time a cultist who worships an extradimensional evil god is born, unimaginable disasters are brought to the entire Earth. Kamar-Taj cannot directly interfere with or inspect these schools of thought to completely eradicate the root of corruption. As the Emperor said, Quetzalcoatl was not the first extradimensional being summoned to Earth, nor will he be the last. The best solution is to completely eliminate all possibilities of summoning extradimensional beings.
Count Kooz, a bear-like figure only slightly shorter than the Knight of the Fire, immediately stepped aside upon hearing the Emperor speak. A regular at the Doorless Bar, Count Kooz had long since discerned the Sorcerer Supreme's changing attitude over the past decade through the Kamar-Taj sorcerer, and was also aware of the Emperor's increasingly ruthless actions. This seemingly rough but actually meticulous wizard firmly grasped the struggling old Englishman, Monak, pinning him to an inconspicuous corner. If the Emperor wanted to eliminate magical risks, then Monak, a wizard skilled in Indian dark magic, would undoubtedly be the first to die.
"Wizards who support this decision, lie prostrate on either side of the hall!" the emperor shouted.
The anti-teleportation array set up by the Kamar-Taj sorcerers was the work of the Emperor. Aside from the inability to leave the hall via dimensional jumps and spatial folding, the combat abilities of the wizards present were not significantly affected. Hammurabi knew that an anti-summoning array should have been set up as well, but due to manpower shortages and the long construction period at Kamar-Taj, the Emperor had to choose to focus on the most crucial anti-teleportation array. Upon receiving orders, the Fire Knights tactical squad that entered the Temple of Vatum immediately prepared to act. Explosive rifles and pistols were loaded, chainsaw swords and power swords were powered, and the tactical support squad's two .0.998 caliber anti-armor heavy chain-type man-portable explosive cannons and two twin-barreled fusion-type thermoelectric guns were already humming with activation; an excessive amount of firepower was ready.
But the first to strike was not the Infernal Knights, the Royal Guard, the Kamar-Taj sorcerers, or the Emperor, but a wizard imbued with spirits. Eerie purple flames appeared out of thin air and lunged at the most ornately armored Infernal Knight captain. A sharp, metallic laugh, like metal scraping against glass, echoed through the air. Simultaneously, several indistinct, hound-like creatures, seemingly living within frosted glass, pierced through the matter and pounced on the Royal Guard and the two Infernal Knight tactical support squads blocking the entrance.
The emperor's exquisite heavy-duty explosive pistol roared like thunder.
Many things happen at the same time.
The instant the rapidly flying warhead struck the spine, the immense kinetic energy instantly shattered the spine, ribs, and muscles, hurling fragments of crushed organic matter into the air, which then fell like a thick rain of flesh and blood. Simultaneously, the eerie purple flames that had been dancing in the air let out a scream, expanding with uncontrolled elation. The bright flames burned uncontrollably through the concrete and granite floors of Teotihuacan, also engulfing the body of a wizard who was near the exit and unable to dodge, leaving behind a shriveled, charred corpse the size of a child.
Before the deafening gunfire could even clear the ringing in the ears of the wizards present, two tactical squads immediately aimed their guns at the wizards who were trying to hide and were not supporting the emperor. All the Fire Knights pulled the triggers without hesitation, and a dense crossfire instantly filled the entire hall of the Temple of Vatum. Even the most foolish person would know by now that it was a trap. Spells in different languages, tones, and emotions were chanted in a short time, and translucent light, noise, and smoke instantly filled the temple hall.
Immediately afterwards, a brilliant flash of lightning emerged from the smoke and struck a member of the tactical squad.
The Infernal Knight was sent flying through the air as if struck by a locomotive, crashing into the relief-carved stone wall adorned with eulogies of the god Vatum. His powerful body and heavy armor were instantly compressed to the thickness of a coin, massive amounts of blood gushing from the gaps in the deformed power armor. The energy backpack ignited under the astonishing heat, setting the flesh and blood within the armor ablaze. But the Infernal Knights made no reaction. They neither roared, swore, nor mourned; instead, they silently and resolutely pressed forward, maintaining suppressive fire on the wizards with their fully automatic explosive rifles. As they closed in, venomous snakes with chilling, scaly patterns surged towards them like a tidal wave. With each step, the two squads of warriors crushed a swamp of slippery, strip-like flesh and blood. Many snakes even crawled up their armor, clinging to the gaps in the power armor.
The tactical squad sergeant first used a plasma pistol and a bomb gun to force the shield to its limit. When they got close enough, the sergeant immediately drew his chainsaw sword, while the other team members drew their monomolecular combat knives. They broke free of the mud and charged forward, crushing through it like an unstoppable tank. The heavy shoulder armor made a dull thud when it hit the wizard, and the twisted body flew out like a cannonball.
The sound of a single-molecule blade cutting through bone and the human body is like grinding teeth, but much shorter and sharper.
It wasn't that no wizard hadn't tried to infiltrate the minds of the Infernal Knights, manipulating them to turn against their own comrades. But those wizards hiding behind their shields suddenly boiled over, their eyes, noses, and ears gushing with hot, pinkish-white, tofu-like fluids – that was their fate. All the Infernal Knights' minds accepted the Emperor's protective spell, thousands of ancient oaths protecting their spirits and souls. However, the power of magic was not something that bombs and blades could overcome. The omnipresent shadows and invisible claws began to inflict casualties on the tactical squads. Shadows and deformed limbs constantly pounced on the Infernal Knights, tearing through their armor and gnawing at their flesh. The foul-smelling flames of magic spread beneath their feet, scorching their power armor.
The tactical squad fought silently, ignoring the pain.
The knight captain and his guards aimed at the fiery creature and repeatedly pulled the trigger. Large-caliber bullets sliced through the air and pierced its body. Even after the captain and guards emptied an entire magazine, it was to no avail; the flames continued to expand uncontrollably, relentlessly devouring corpses and the living. As if finally satiated, a grotesque face emerged from the flames, with an excessively elongated chin, charred skin, and eyes filled with fire.
A gust of hot air swept through the temple. The knight captain hung his explosive pistol on his thigh holster, raised his greatsword to his chest, and strode forward to challenge the fire monster. The guard squad also raised their explosive pistols and chainswords and rushed forward to attack the enemies around the captain, preventing them from interrupting the duel.
The captain of the 7th Knight of the First Company of the Fire Knights wore a white cloak embroidered with a sword emblem, signifying his superhuman combat skills and command abilities. He proved himself worthy of this honor—he carefully circled around and feigned an attack. The monster's charred claws, sparking with fire, were instantly bitten by the blade, which shimmered with a force field. The charred bones and dried muscles were severed and disintegrated under the disintegrating force field. In less than ten seconds, the blade was plunged into the monster's mouth.
The knight captain withdrew his longsword, drew his plasma pistol, and fired a shot into the head of the monster that was still standing.
