Chapter 1260 Galaxy Halo
Chapter 1260 Galaxy Halo (Second Update)
The plasma engines at the stern spewed out cone-shaped plumes hundreds of meters long, initiating a half-hour acceleration that propelled the sky battleship beyond the first and second cosmic velocities, lifting it off Earth's orbit and launching it into space like a slingshot, where it accelerated again. Before escaping Earth's gravity, the frenzied plasma reactor gradually increased its output power, the energy lines scorching hot and the coolant nearly boiling over. Everyone standing on the deck felt the accelerating hull tremble beneath their feet, and the redesigned and rebuilt hull structure barely withstood the force.
As the Sky Battleship crossed lunar orbit, further reducing the effects of Earth's gravity, it began to accelerate rapidly. Flashing sparks gradually formed in the void above its bow, then expanded to envelop the missile launchers extending from the bow. Perhaps some would feel proud of this ship capable of navigating the void, as it represented the pinnacle of Earth's technology and Latvian industrial capacity. Alexander Pierce's plan was for the three Project Insight Sky Carriers to linger in the air for extended periods, but the Immortal City of Mars Foundry allowed these three ships to fly even higher, even brushing past the International Space Station, greeting the astronauts, and inviting them aboard.
Some people wanted to do this, perhaps driven by a romantic spirit that emerged after humanity ventured beyond Earth, or perhaps viewing it as a form of reasonable showing off. Regardless, the application wasn't even approved by command, let alone placed on the desk in the royal office. Even so, this romantic sentiment didn't disappear. On orbit, you see no borders, no religious divisions, no hunger; you see no inequality, no crime, and no ugly side of humanity.
Anyone who stands on the orbit looking down or looking out will receive a spiritual baptism from the vast universe and feel how insignificant their own soul is. Especially those Yugoslav soldiers who are receiving the "Unity Truth," they know that their rulers' words about building a community with a shared future for mankind are correct, and that people standing on the surface of the earth are too narrow-minded to understand the emperor.
However, these space carriers and their modified versions lack any docking channels or interfaces with the International Space Station. All supplies—oxygen, water, food, and more—must be transported by transport aircraft. Like ships sailing on the open sea, these vessels are trapped in the vast emptiness, their only means of self-sufficiency being a few giant vegetables mutated by space radiation. Even with such rudimentary spacecraft, as long as they remain in low Earth orbit, Latvia's orbital control remains unaffected. All European nations must remain vigilant, for no one knows what weapons the Latvians have installed on these ships.
The radical Hydra's ultimate goal has been achieved by an organization that opposes them. Even Gideon Malik would find this scene ironic and darkly humorous. Dr. Daniel Whitehall, who is now just a brainless man but still serves as a consultant at the bio-genetic laboratory, would be quite pleased and continue his radical, seductive manifesto, which is only useful for those who cannot leave the Immortal City laboratory.
For the well-traveled Sorcerer Supreme, this ship was still too small; the ion shields mounted on the sky battleships were insufficient to counter the alien fleet that had swarmed across the solar system. The Sorcerer Supreme also knew his disciple's true intentions; for the current mission, such a ship was sufficient.
"A teleportation beacon, that's a teleportation beacon, but its principle is a little different from the usual ones." During the break between passing through the teleportation portal for the second time and observing, perhaps out of boredom, or perhaps because of a particular fondness for androids, the Venerable patiently explained to Tita. This was information already known to the Royal Guard, but for the Sisterhood, who knew nothing, it was all shrouded in mystery. "Normally, a teleportation beacon's function is to send coordinates. That's a passive device. This teleportation beacon's function is to actively teleport the target here, meaning that as long as we are close enough, we can pull your master back."
“Like fishing,” Tita nodded. She had never fished before, but her engineered and developed bio-engineered brain possessed the knowledge. She knew how to lure fish, how to choose bait, and how to judge whether a fishing rod could catch a fish, but she had never had time to enjoy such leisurely moments.
"That's right, fishing." The Sorcerer Supreme snapped his fingers. Instead of sitting down, he wandered aimlessly across the bridge until the observation was over. The observation was an extremely difficult task. The Koboi carried thousands of icy asteroids; by observing radiation noise and optical phenomena, the Sky Battleship could determine the Emperor's approximate location.
This was something the SkySword Space Station couldn't do. The SkySword Space Station was simply too far from the Kobo Belt. By the time the people there discovered the residual radiation, the Emperor might have already moved to another location. The energy radiation left by the Holy Sword served as a guide for this ship in its search for the Emperor. By observing the convergence of straight lines formed by the residual radiation, the Sky Battleship was slowly guided towards a trap zone filled with high-speed asteroids. Here, the sun's radiance was reduced to a hazy mist, but they still couldn't find the Emperor's trail. The coordinates of the Kobo Belt blast phenomenon previously observed by the SkySword Space Station were now completely empty.
"But I still don't understand," Tita said. "You have the ability to bring your master back, so why don't you just do it?"
"For your master, the physical form of the material world is actually unimportant. He is an entity deeply integrated with outer-dimensional energy and the material universe. Think about it, in a universe lacking a frame of reference, having lost the concept of scale, what would he do to fight the ever-expanding Quetzalcoatl?" Before Tita could answer, the Sorcerer Supreme confidently stated, "That's right, he would become as big as Quetzalcoatl... He can do it, but he won't realize he has already done so. So what we see of him might be several kilometers in size, although it's just a false entity made of magic, it's still full of destructive power. He wants to avoid destroying the environment in which humanity lives as much as possible. If we bring him directly back to Earth, no matter how careful we are, he will eventually cause trouble."
Dita shook her head. She didn't think such reasons mattered. For the Emperor's safety, the best solution was to send him back to Earth. Any harm caused was irrelevant; other lives were insignificant compared to the Emperor. At that moment, she didn't even know if she should be angry with the Sorcerer Supreme, because she didn't know whether it was the Emperor's order or the Sorcerer Supreme's. The Sorcerer Supreme showed no concern for his disciple's safety; he knew he wouldn't be killed so easily. Therefore, in the eyes of others, especially Dita and the other homunculus humans, the Sorcerer Supreme's attitude was far too relaxed and carefree.
“I think we’ve found a trail, Your Excellency.” Constantine walked toward the bridge command post. Even though they knew he wasn’t on the Imperial Guard’s route, all the crew members working there avoided him as much as possible to avoid being trampled by the giant. He extended his hand; the built-in permissions of his power armor allowed him to easily manipulate the holographic projection equipment on the sky battleship. “These are the exact coordinates, but…” His finger moved down, “the radar operators have detected something different here. Small in size, numerous, and relatively densely packed. These things are surging toward us; they are most likely the enemy.”
"Enemies? No creature can survive in the void; the temperature here is high enough to freeze blood into ice."
Constantine waved his hand. "Our enemies are... well, don't try to understand those creatures with common sense," he said. "Activate the weapon systems, send out escort fighters. If the enemy is here, it means the Emperor is nearby. This is the most compelling lead right now, and we can't let any possibility slip by. Your Excellency..."
The Supreme Master nodded, agreeing with the Royal Guard's approach.
"Specify the location, then make another jump," the Venerable One said. "Be precise, and don't assume I understand your scientific jargon."
