Chapter 1353 Mechanical Soldiers

Chapter 1353 Mechanical Soldiers (First Update)

The android project has always been a major focus of attention on Earth. If we broaden the criteria, humanoid robots like Ultron and Vision could largely be considered androids, even the android maids created by the Emperor and equipped with alchemical engines could be included, the only difference being whether they possess a simulated outer skin. Dr. Radcliffe's creations largely benefited from Stark Industries' research and scanning of Vision—Ultron's 3D-printed robots possessed extremely sophisticated structures, making them highly valuable for reference. Dr. Radcliffe's androids, particularly in their joints and other bionic parts, likely referenced Stark Industries' research on Vision's robots, controlling the joint volume while maintaining balance to achieve a near-perfect humanoid form.

However, Vision lacks a crucial device: energy.

To this day, Dr. Radcliffe's project remains unable to leave the building, solely due to the limited size and insufficient power of the battery pack. According to observations from the Defense Intelligence Service and the Guardian Order's intelligence, Dr. Radcliffe appears to be using his authority to access data on the Arc Reactor. Although Tony Stark has repeatedly stated that he will not hand over the Arc Reactor's manufacturing methods and knowledge to any official organization, his relationship with S.H.I.E.L.D. is not among them. Nick Fury has indeed obtained the method to build this small plasma reactor, and Dr. Radcliffe, as an external technical advisor to the current S.H.I.E.L.D. team, naturally has access to this information.

According to intelligence sent by agents, the US government will announce the establishment of a new S.H.I.E.L.D. in a few days. The new S.H.I.E.L.D. has already made contact with Coulson's team in an attempt to obtain secret information that Nick Fury has hidden and that Agent Natasha Romanoff has not released.

It was a vibranium black box equipped with a holographic projection device. Nick Fury told Agent Coulson that it was S.H.I.E.L.D.'s most comprehensive database, containing all the information he had ever revealed and all the information he had never revealed. Even on WikiLeaks, there weren't many records of classified information leaked during the Hydra rebellion, because all the US intelligence agencies had temporarily put aside their infighting and joined forces to protect their future and jobs, quickly deleting all documents related to the matter from the internet.

The documents available to the world today are merely remnants of that rebellion and information salvaged by a few prominent hackers. Even that information led to the arrest of hundreds of business leaders and officials worldwide on charges of bribery, leaking state secrets, and other crimes.

Mars' goal is to take everything Dr. Radcliffe owns, while the Emperor's goal is to seize the technology and interrogate Dr. Radcliffe and the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents who came into contact with him, to find out the whereabouts of the Dark Book and how many people had access to it. However, Constantine does not want to cooperate with Mars because it will take time for Mars to transport equipment and combat forces to Earth, and he does not believe that his patience or the course of events can wait until the equipment and combat forces sent by the Martian foundry arrive on Earth.

However, just a few hours later, a spaceship painted in Martian crimson landed at the Royal City landing site. Dozens of half-human soldiers, clad in crimson robes and whose bodies were entirely replaced with identical metal masks, electronic eyes, breathing filtration systems, sound acquisition systems, and mechanical prosthetics, marched in a long line down the descending ramp, their mechanical appendages securely locked to their backs via power backpacks. At the forefront of this group of Martian soldiers stood a Martian sage whose lower half of his face had been replaced with silver metal, and a soldier who clearly stood out from the others. This soldier's implants were noticeably more sophisticated, more comprehensive, and more efficient; Constantine could even smell the mixture of blood, nutrient fluid, and engine oil beneath their bodies, concealed by their crimson robes.

"These are all slaves," Amon and Constantine said to their commander over the communication system as they walked toward the Martian reinforcements. "But slaves also have their uses."

"I've always had doubts about Martian loyalty," Constantine said, frowning as he stopped and waited for the Martian sage to approach. He recalled the Emperor's assessment of Mars—the loyalty of the Martian forging sage Mabas was guaranteed, but the loyalty of the rulers of the other Martian foundries was questionable. Mabas's subordinates might not necessarily share that loyalty—yet they did indeed need Martian technological support in this matter. "This operation can be considered as a criterion."

"Agreed," Amon replied briefly and then fell silent.

He stood behind Constantine, halberd in hand, warily eyeing the approaching Martian troops, his eyes filled with an assessment of their combat capabilities. Three seconds—that was his conclusion, but that didn't include collateral damage. Although these Martian mechanical soldiers' weapons couldn't harm the Royal Guard's powered armor, due to Mars' overuse of radioactive weapons, if these mechanical soldiers opened fire, the radiation concentration on site would reach carcinogenic levels. If an operation were to take place here, none of the mortals working on the landing site would escape unscathed; their protective gear would be utterly inadequate to withstand such radiation.

"Three seconds," Constantine whispered, giving the same answer as Amon. "Try not to act; my lord has mercy on the lives of mortals."

The Martian Sage stopped less than two meters from the Imperial Guard.

"Your Excellency Commander of the Royal Guard, I am Epsilon Rodney Radium 223, the Ruler of the Olympus Forge." This high-ranking Martian official possessed a clear, fluent, and almost ethereal female voice, but neither Constantine nor Amon could discern whether the remaining flesh on this sage still retained any concept of gender. The Martian sage drew a chip from a device at his waist. "This is my authentication code, data communication password, and mission reception code. 12 hours, 31 minutes, and 20.9 seconds ago, I was still performing prosthetic body transplant surgery and cloning artificial nerve fibers, but the Martian side believes that among the foundry sages on Earth, only I, with my professional skills and research into the hypocritical and inefficient social structures of flesh and blood, can undertake this responsibility."

Then, its speaker uttered several incomprehensible binary swear words, roughly meaning things like "terrible tutor," "deduct points," "boring code," and "cram all of you into the reactor radiator."

Regardless, the Martian sage didn't seem too keen on participating in this operation. Constantine took the chip, read the information, and confirmed the young sage's identity, as well as the numbers of the mechanic soldiers behind him. He matched the information on the list with theirs, including weapons and equipment. Finally, he turned his gaze to the squad leader, who was much taller and had a more sophisticated implant than the other mechanic soldiers.

"Alfa-Bronze 02".

The mechanical soldier squad leader's voice was a dry, electronic tone. It seemed that a pleasant voice and approachable appearance were meaningless to these soldiers, and the Martians had no intention of making these mechanical soldiers look more human; even the vocal apparatus in their breathing systems followed a minimalist principle. While the Imperial Guards were unconcerned about Alpha-Bronze 02's combat capabilities, they were deeply worried about its weapon, as its radiation levels were already far above safe limits. For an ordinary person to use such a weapon would only result in widespread radiation-induced skin ulceration.

"Arrange for the site to be cleaned," Constantine said to Amon behind him. "I'm going to take these Martian visitors to the rest area and separate them from the Earthlings."
