Chapter 1394, Chapter 1390: Seiz's Spell
Chapter 1394 (Part 1390) - Seiz's Curse (Two Chapters Combined)
The unique landscape resulted in exorbitant land prices, and the Asgardians who could afford to live in this region were invariably from the middle class, the vast majority of whom were Asgardian artisans. These artisans were responsible for processing and producing raw materials, supplying the Golden Palace and the entire Asgardian realm with sculptures, stone, processed metals, weapons and armor, and cloth. As a result, they were quite wealthy, knowledgeable, and intimately familiar with the Asgardian gods. The economic laws of Asgard were drastically different from those on Earth, due to the vast differences in productivity and production methods.
Asgardian craftsmanship, imbued with magical technology, possesses immense scarcity and value—something impossible on Earth. After machines melt steel and pour the molten iron into molds, or after it's molded and shaped by machine pressing, blacksmiths always place it in a furnace. There, on an anvil, they hammer and inscribe intricate runes in the name of the Aesir gods, blessing the metal. Only then are a weapon, a suit of armor, or even a plow complete. The Gadorian runes—combinations of runes that totemize the magical power contained within each character—engraved on the surface of these objects by the blacksmiths, are designed to be undetectable to the user, enabling them to achieve effects unattainable by ordinary artifacts. For example, weapons lead warriors to victory, and plows bring bountiful harvests to crops. This is the real reason why Asgardian crafts have thrived for so long. Families who possess the exclusive Gador rune have also prospered as a result, and many other craft families have emerged that are related to it and share in markets outside of the Golden Palace.
These "well-informed" commoners were from the Asgardian middle class. At first, they simply thought the Emperor and the Royal Guard were either the Vanir gods they had never seen before (because the Emperor and the Royal Guard were all dressed in golden armor) or gods with giant blood (because of their three-meter height). But the conflict that occurred in the street still shocked these commoners. They couldn't see the Royal Guard's movements clearly, nor could they see Heimdall's movements. Everything happened in an instant, and the sharp screech of limbs and weapons cutting through the air squeezed their eyeballs and eardrums.
The conflict between the Vanir and the Aesir is now just a legend and a fantastical history; these commoners have only heard about battles between gods from stories told by elders when they were children. Despite these Asgardians' glorification of the violent Thor, when the conflict actually unfolds before them, these commoners flee without a second thought about how much they had previously championed Asgard's wars against the colonies.
Amun and Hammurabi did not stop their attacks.
A bomb sliced through Heimdall's armor and crashed into a nearby house. The explosive warhead easily destroyed the wall's support pillars, sending several bricks flying into the air. The defensive Gador runes protected the armor's integrity, but the kinetic energy from the bomb still made Heimdall, who was only wearing portable armor, feel extremely uncomfortable. The continuous fire from two guards pushed Heimdall forcefully out of the way, slamming him into the wall destroyed by the bomb, nearly breaking his ribs.
Unless the Emperor himself orders a halt, accepting Heimdall's proposal, or confirms that Heimdall is incapacitated, Amun and Hammurabi will not cease their attack. Although Heimdall is listed among the gods of Asgard, the sheer strength and size of the Royal Guard still caused him considerable trouble for a short time. The Royal Guard's reach and the size of their weapons were all far greater than Heimdall's greatsword; they wielded their garrison spears much faster, and the slight hum of their power armor servers granted them strength far exceeding their physical limits. Heimdall once again barely managed to parry Hammurabi's halberd with his greatsword, staggering back two steps, but Amun quickly followed up with the attack—the combined effect of the two Royal Guards was far more than simply doubling the frequency of their attacks. Amon blocked Heimdall's path as he swung his greatsword with his halberd. Hammurabi immediately stepped forward, using his shoulder armor to knock aside Heimdall's other hand as he tried to grasp the greatsword. At the same time, he tilted his halberd, crackling with electricity, downwards and thrust it at Heimdall's knee, forcing the latter to take a large step back and abandon his weapon.
"I'm seeking collaboration!"
Heimdall was forced to drop his greatsword.
He had no intention of fighting, and the Imperial Guards also held back, maintaining a strange tacit understanding between the two sides.
Heimdall's presence here is entirely due to the Emperor's appearance, which perfectly aligns with the prophecy made by the evil sorceress of the Vanir. Heimdall knows he must obtain the Emperor's help—the sorceress Heizr, whose name combines gold (Gull) and strength (veig) and whose alias is "the Radiant One," was the catalyst for the past war between the Aesir and the Vanir.
The Sez spell she used was a very unique type of Vanir magic, primarily used by female Vanir gods. When casting it, the sorceress would sit alone on a stone platform, surrounded by a group of assistants. Once the spell began, the caster would enter a state of ecstasy, and those around her would involuntarily feel waves of sexual pleasure surging through their bodies. Her spell allowed Asgardian women to experience extreme, limitless sexual pleasure, leading to moral decay.
The powerful witch's subsequent actions greatly displeased Odin.
The Aesir had thrown her into the flames three times, but she resurrected each time, even prompting Odin to throw Gungnir as a declaration of war against the Vanir. However, since the Aesir and Vanir reconciled, Scythe magic was restricted according to the terms of the agreement. Heimdall knew that even Odin himself was a skilled Scythe sorcerer, and that this ban only applied to the Vanir, especially the witch Gulveig.
In the countryside where Asgardian official institutions could not provide public services, medical authority and prophecy remained controlled by the Vanir "Vara" and "Wolva," the "staff-wielding women" capable of sez magic. The witch Gulveig was confined to Vanaheim according to the terms of the agreement, but recently she had blatantly violated the contract by appearing in the Golden Palace and beginning to proclaim her prophecies. No high-ranking Vanir god stopped her, for no one except Frigga and Odin, who were equally skilled in sez magic, had the power to do so. The powerful Aesir and Vanir nobles might be able to expel her from the palace through administrative means, but now they were feasting and enjoying the farce around Odin, having no time to concern themselves with a witch who had lost her influence.
Amun wedged the blue-flaming blade of the Guardian Spear into Heimdall's shoulder armor, ready to sever the head of this renowned "god." Due to the Emperor's training of the Praetorian Guard, all of them deeply resented the arrogance and superstition of the Aesir and Vanir gods who called themselves gods. This aversion was undisguised even when facing Odin, let alone Heimdall. True nobility lies not in bloodline, but in ideals. The Praetorian Guard saw no grand aspirations in the Aesir, only a thirst for power.
This is undoubtedly extremely despicable.
"I need your help, Elkunirsa!"
After Heimdall surrendered, he uttered an ancient name, a name that prompted the Emperor to order the Praetorian Guard to cease their attack, for this name belonged to the Emperor's past and future. "It seems Wuni and Fokkin have told you many things," the Emperor said, staring intently into Heimdall's eyes. He realized this Asgardian might already know that Odin was still alive. The Sorcerer Supreme had told him that few knew this name belonged to him, and Odin was one of them. "I will offer no help. Ragnarok must be weathered by the Asgardians themselves."
"You want Ragnarok, you want your power." The master of Mount Himinjog, the Heavenly Mountain, spat on the ground. "Then help me, help Thor to thwart this evil plot. The God of Mischief doesn't know what kind of disaster his actions will cause, but I know that evil must never set foot on the land of Asgard again."
"This has nothing to do with me."
“You are one of the few who can stand against her,” Heimdall said. “I also know that you refused to enter Nilfheim to marry her and share the power of the dead. What do you think she will think when she finds out? Nilfheim and Asgard are not forever closed off; something will always go from here to there.”
The emperor had no patience to continue the riddle with Heimdall.
"I will get what I want."
In Heimdall's eyes, a phantom black raven appeared out of thin air on the Emperor's arm. After whispering, the raven flew away. He knew this was some kind of magic that transmitted sound to specific individuals, the Gador runes based on runes. If the Emperor hadn't used magic to conceal the supernatural light emanating from him, all the wizards of Asgard would have experienced excruciating pain upon his arrival. Even nobles without psychic abilities would have instinctively sensed his presence. But under the cover of magic, only Heimdall, with his special eyes, could accurately detect him and even track him down here.
"I will give you what you want."
“Wotan said so, until I laid out my conditions,” the Emperor shook his head. Heimdall, who was trying to negotiate, was extremely stubborn. Although the master of Simijog seemed very weak now, the Emperor knew that if Heimdall had the chance, he would definitely use his sword to force him to provide assistance, so he felt no pity. “I want many things, and all of them are things you have no right to give,” the Emperor said, casting a pitying glance at him. From beginning to end, Heimdall had been Odin’s tool; the Allfather had used him even more harshly than he had used Baldr, Tyr, and the other hounds. “You will not die today, Heimdall. When your death comes, you will remember my warning.”
When Heimdall regained his senses, the Emperor and the Praetorian Guard, who should have been standing in the street, had vanished. He closed his eyes, but could no longer see the golden-armored figure in Asgard. The common people were still fleeing in panic, so it seemed he hadn't been unconscious for long. His fingers hesitated as he touched the Galar Horn at his waist. After a long while, he sighed and abandoned his plan to blow the horn—he had to blow it to warn the Asgardian gods when the giants invaded Asgard—the Emperor from Midgard was just as dangerous as the giants, even in size, easily reminiscent of the giants of the Primal Realm.
But Heimdall ultimately didn't sound the Galar Horn, knowing he wouldn't get a response until Thor resolved the situation. The soldiers, fresh from the colonies, were no match for the Midgard Emperor, and Heimdall didn't want to distract Thor. Soon, gossips would spread the news; he had to leave quickly to avoid being noticed. He looked at the palace complex hidden behind the golden walls, and the rainbow bridge, like glass, stretching from the sky to the Golden Palace. A power struggle was currently taking place within that Golden Palace.
Not everyone wants to return to the harsh era of Odin's rule. There will always be people who want to lie on the corpse of the empire and enjoy power and wealth. Even once brave and skilled generals and passionate idealists will be corrupted and degenerate by time and power.
Heimdall does not want Sol to fail.
Thor realized he was completely isolated when Mjolnir smashed a dagger aimed at his waist and the hand holding it. Even the dwarfs in the farce were swaggering around the stage, brandishing Mjolnir made of cast iron and sheet metal. The Allfather, King of Asgard, and ruler of the Nine Realms coldly watched the conflict erupt between Thor and his guests. He was displeased with Thor's sudden intrusion, which had driven away many beautiful, naked Asgardian girls and wasted much sweet, exotic berry wine.
The conflict erupted in the most direct way. But when the first drop of blood, accompanied by splattering bone fragments and flesh, and the assassin's agonizing screams, spread, most people broke out in a cold sweat, as the intense emotions generated by the surge of hormones began to cool. The Allfather, seated high above the guests, observed the conflict below with great interest, completely unconcerned about the splattering blood. Even as Thor, hammer in hand, kicked aside the body blocking his path and stormed up the steps toward him, the Allfather remained unhurried, ordering the beautiful maiden to put sweet berries into her mouth.
The girl's hands were trembling; not everyone can remain calm after witnessing a bloody scene.
"Where is Gungnir, Father?" Thor stood before the Allfather's chair, looking down at him, and asked, "Have you relinquished your power?"
"Haven't you been to the throne room, child?" the Allfather said lazily. "Gungnir is right there."
"I hope so," Thor said in a low voice, the surface of Mjolnir crackling with electricity. He had seen many things in the Well of Urd, the three Norn goddesses revealing to him the past and a contradictory future. He saw the coexistence of the Allfather and Frigga, the Queen of the Gods, in death and life, and the conspiracies that had been deceiving him all along. "Now you must summon Gungnir."
Why?
"This is for your life's sake."
Thor raised his warhammer high and brought it down suddenly, fueled by thunderous fury.
