Chapter 1482 Multi-front Operations

Chapter 1482 Multi-Front Operations (Part 1) (First Update)

Amon hung up the communication, gestured to send the password to shut down the system, and strode out of the closed, crimson-level secure room.

An officer in a black overcoat had been waiting outside for some time. Seeing the Imperial Guard appear, she immediately followed, her large-caliber explosive pistol securely holstered at her waist. "Missions keep coming, don't they?" Sophia said. Few mortals could joke so calmly with the Imperial Guard, but Sophia from the political commissar's department was one of them. Based on some legend, many civilians in Kit City mistook the Imperial Guard for the golden angels accompanying the Prophet. Although the Emperor severely cracked down on religious superstition, Kit City, having lost its religion, found a new way to unite its people: serving the Emperor's new empire. "As far as I know, you've been on missions for over a week straight. Have you had any sleep?"

"Unfortunately, I don't have time to induce sleep during this rotation cycle." Amon took the electronic stamp from the data panel, confirming his mission. Even as a messenger, he had to personally carry out his missions with his weapons, such as maintaining the security of Yugoslavian trade routes. "However, overseeing the training of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and sending them back to the United States isn't a difficult task; my colleagues have already accomplished the vast majority of them. Sophia, I hope the soldiers you send to Lighthouse Base will complete their mission."

"Don't worry, Agent Coulson is very obedient. To be honest, he's been paying a little too much attention to S.H.I.E.L.D." Sophia flicked a strand of playful red hair that peeked out from under her hat. "I've seen the data; S.H.I.E.L.D. doesn't have many resources left to plunder. Aircraft carriers, bases, weapons of mass destruction—all the things that have consumed huge amounts of the US defense budget over the years belong to us… There's no need to pay too much attention to the remaining agents. Now that the Beacon Base is almost empty, even if there's something we don't know about, Agent Coulson wouldn't know."

"I hope you didn't starve the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents."

“I’m not one of those Martians. Those machine-worshipping guys are incomprehensible; they seem to only need a simple food supply to keep going, as if they don’t have taste buds,” Sophia shrugged. Some low-class research was being conducted on-site at the Lighthouse Base, while some technicians from Mars and the Immortal City were stationed there to collaborate with S.H.I.E.L.D.’s technical departments. Security and coordination were handled separately, and Sophia could only hope that the Martian technicians would be more obedient. “Maybe not. If S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were fed Martian nutrient solution, there would be a riot at the Lighthouse Base in a few days,” Sophia said. “By the way, my team is ready for the mission; they’re waiting for you on the tarmac.”

"I apologize again for the delay."

"Don't be nervous, there's always a time difference between entering and exiting the atmosphere." Sofia tilted her head back, a smile on her face. "Attacking the US military base in Yemen isn't that difficult. You can take a nap on the landing craft; inducing sleep doesn't take more than a few seconds. But do you think we can find the documents we need there?"

"Maybe so. Anyway, no one will know what we're looking for. Everything in the port will be burned."

"The mission deadline is ten hours, it's very tight." Sophia pressed the elevator button. A floating drone and a camera above the elevator captured her and Amon's appearances and the information transmitted by the signal transmitter implants on their bodies, confirming her authorization to summon the elevator. "Do you have any other missions to perform?"

“Yes, the Regent has many tasks that require unconventional methods,” Amon said. Sofia remained silent while waiting for the elevator. She stepped into the elevator, standing beside the Imperial Guard, her eyes fixed straight ahead. It wasn't until they arrived at the helipad via gravity elevator and joined the ten-man squad of the First Secret Regiment that Sofia spoke again.

"Start the task timer now, compare the time, and confirm."

There were only a few people on the tarmac.

As an open-aircraft helipad, this port boasts extremely high security standards. Amon nodded and stepped onto the ramp of the Pegasus Assault Transport. An armored vehicle for the genetically modified soldiers was parked inside, large enough to fit all the soldiers present. Airdrop modules, fuel, missiles, and other necessary items were all checked off on a data panel, along with the signatures and electronic seals of the quartermaster, ordnance department, and logistics officer. Although these departments were not exclusively affiliated with the Guardians of the Order, Amon still trusted the professional competence of these mortals and the rigor and efficiency of the entire system established by the Regent.

He glanced at the ten mortals about to be deployed; all the soldiers awaited orders in silence. He recognized the names, appearances, and family backgrounds of every soldier, including the pilots. These people from all over the world had come here after training, all for the sake of building the beautiful world the emperor had promised. After a brief period of induced sleep following the war council, and then waking up at the appropriate time, they were now full of energy and vitality. Their fully enclosed armor and weapons had been inspected and tested before battle to ensure that the information and power systems would not malfunction.

Amon confirmed the mission details with them one last time before they passed by and boarded the gunship. These soldiers weren't new to him; most had fought alongside genetically modified warriors more than once, even experiencing the hellish battle of Mount Fimbulb, witnessing entire areas turn to fire and mountains crumble into plains, seeing the Emperor fight with their own eyes. Amon knew that back then he was still struggling in the alien training camp, standing out from hundreds of boys, even though he didn't remember that time.

Amon showed due respect to these veterans who had survived hell.

All the mortals were brimming with confidence, for they had never witnessed a mission involving the Imperial Guard fail, whether a formal military operation or a special operation. He gave orders to the soldiers of the First Classified Regiment, watching as the rigging secured them firmly to their seats, and the pilot started the engine. He nodded to Sophia beside the airlock door on the tarmac, who responded, and then the airlock door closed completely, isolating her from the mission team. Artificial gravity was about to fail, and the decompression procedure was about to begin. After a few minutes of complex procedures and safety checks, the hangar would face the frigid vacuum, dropping the team into the air.

Meanwhile, evacuation ships and special agents near the target location also began initial operations.

"See you in 72 hours, Commissar Sofia."

"This mission is extremely important," Viktor von Doom said. "We will have the opportunity to locate US and British submarines in the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea. The Suez Canal will be a vital trade route for us, and this route must not be threatened. Of course, I'll be leading this mission, since you're still enjoying some precious family time, aren't you?"

"Don't be so angry, Victor. I know you care about me."

"If you don't take this seriously, Milia's going to smash a sword over your head," Victor von Doom shook his head. Stacks of documents wrapped in parchment lay on his desk. Unprocessed documents were on the left, processed ones on the right, with the right side far outnumbering the left. "According to the schedule, you'll be returning to the castle in two days. Have you evacuated the manor to the isolated island base?"

"Yes."

"Then we can start the war without any distractions."
