Chapter 1494 Chapter 1490 Lunar War

Chapter 1494 The Lunar War (Part 6)

Hammurabi, shield in hand, squeezed through the corpses. A bomb flew past him, blasting the shoulder and arm of the mutant who had unleashed lightning at him into dust. Before the Inhuman's brain could feel the pain, Hammurabi charged forward with astonishing speed, cleaving the mutant in two at the chest with a single stroke, ending his life. The foul blood and fragments of internal organs were dissolved into smoke by the energy of the broadsword. Hammurabi continued to advance, shield raised, the greatsword resting on the edge of the shield, the explosive gun on the hilt firing continuously.

He suddenly stopped, swinging his shield to smash a soldier who burst out from a side passage against the wall, while simultaneously using his sword-and-blast gun to obliterate a mutant attempting to manually close a blast door in the distance. Immediately afterward, a golden spear thrust out from a gap above the shield, pinning an Attilan garrison soldier engulfed in flames to the wall. The burning body was pierced through the skull, then reduced to a charred corpse. Hammurabi sidestepped, and another guard thrust out his garrison spear and fired several shots, shattering a row of nearly ten "superhumans" in the narrow side passage.

The Royal Guard fought silently, advancing like a golden wall. But their defensive network was dynamic; Hammurabi, who had previously served as the vanguard, immediately transformed into the Emperor's personal bodyguard after dealing with the attack on the flanks. Amon, who had previously performed this role, took over his original task. Even the newly recruited Royal Guard members seamlessly integrated into this system, for they had ingrained this understanding and sense of mission into their instincts and nerves during their life-or-death experiences in the alien training camp. Within a minute of their boarding maneuver, they had advanced a kilometer; almost nothing could stop them. Each time the muzzle flashes illuminating the passage, they left behind only corpses.

The explosion-proof door of the elevator in the side passage slowly opened, and blood and severed limbs, reaching up to the knees, immediately gushed out.

Immediately afterward, a tactical squad clad in bronze-colored power armor emerged. Their armor was covered in scorch marks and other unimaginable damage; without later tactical debriefing and the extraction of video footage from their helmets, it would be impossible to determine what kind of enemy they had encountered. All Inhuman abilities are dangerous; in most cases, their abilities cannot be determined by their deformed physical characteristics. Furthermore, many Inhumans with abilities lack obvious non-human appearances. The genetically modified warriors' only option is to treat all Inhumans as a threat.

The Royal Guard did not stop, for the First Combat Group's mission was to seize key facilities before the Inhumans could react. The Second and Third Combat Groups would enter Attiland in assault tanks, main battle tanks, armored vehicles, and anti-gravity attack craft as the First Combat Group was about to complete its mission, to carry out the second phase of the annihilation mission. This tactical squad had already extracted the key information from the previous encounter and sent it to the command network. After paying their respects to the Emperor, they immediately rushed to the next tactical location, the 106th floor, to rendezvous with the First Legion Commander, Aparishia, to complete the tactical objective.

The team encountered a strange humanoid creature known as the Alpha Primitive Man.

These creatures wore identical, tight-fitting suits, possessed incredibly strong bodies, and were significantly taller than ordinary people. When the knights attacked the Inhumans, these humanoid beings leaped out of the maintenance pipes, relentlessly attacking the wounded and dying Inhumans. Initially, the squad leader attempted to communicate, but he quickly discovered that these humanoids had extremely low intelligence, almost equivalent to a six-year-old human child, and even tried to attack the knights. Undoubtedly, despite their immense strength, the knights effortlessly killed them all. "No value in turning them," the tactical squad leader concluded in his uploaded message, "but they hate the Inhumans more than we do."

Internal documents of the Guardian Order refer to these beings as "Alpha Primitives," a direct translation of the name given to these humanoid beings by the Attilan Genetic Commission. According to their investigations, these beings are essentially humans who underwent genetic engineering four thousand years ago. However, their creation was not the work of the Kree, but rather the result of Inhuman geneticists using chemical crystals left to the Inhumans by the Kree to modify Earth's humans into slaves with a life expectancy of twelve years. The purpose of this was to free the Attilan Inhumans from arduous manual labor, allowing them to provide support to the city of Attilan in areas such as equipment manufacturing, pipeline maintenance, water recycling plants, and food processing. They work eighteen hours a day, spending the remaining six hours sleeping, requiring neither culture nor leisure.

"I can hardly find any reason not to kill these mutants, my lord." Malcolm, on the bridge of the Skywarp, commented without hesitation after receiving feedback from the lunar surface. "The Inhumans and these blasphemers should be annihilated." He knew that the esteemed Maya Hansen was watching everything unfold in the Skywarp Space Station command center, but he said it anyway. "The creatures in this base are worthless except lying on the dissection table. Second Battle Group, prepare to carry out the Emperor's orders and utterly destroy them!"

She continued to wriggle in the pipe, as quiet as a black snake.

The circulating air system in the ventilation ducts carried a pungent odor of explosive propellant into her nostrils. The slight tremors of the walls, the faint screams she heard, and the hurried, chaotic footsteps of the Attilan security forces all made her realize she was getting closer to her mission objective. Not long ago, she had inputted a destructive computer virus and fragments of silicon-based intelligent spirits into the central control system of the 106th floor, paralyzing the server systems from the 86th to the 126th floors—these 40 floors primarily served to provide Attilan with production resources, from food to recycled fresh water—preparing for the Emperor's technicians to take over the server systems later. This was just a small item on her long to-do list.

Another completed task was to sabotage an automated drug release device in the water source of the "Alpha Primitive Man" settlement below level 30. Due to genetic defects and practical needs, these genderless humanoid beings can produce massive amounts of steroids, and the extreme aggression caused by these steroids needs to be mitigated by psychotropic drugs added to the water source. Without these drugs, the steroids produced by the Xerogen Crystals mutation, which were originally designed to enhance physical abilities, would drive these humanoid beings, who have the intelligence of a six-year-old child, into a frenzy, causing them to attack any non-"Alpha Primitive Man" creatures they can see.

The prolonged period of ease has made the Inhumans complacent, exhibiting extreme naiveté regarding information security, social security, and military security. In terms of social security, since the "Alpha Primitives" perform all physical labor, the Inhumans don't need to work. Money is meaningless to them; aside from natural mating forbidden by the Genetic Council, they can enjoy almost anything. Therefore, they don't need collective security—every Inhuman may possess powerful and dangerous abilities, and few can discern these from appearance alone—the most powerful security department is actually the youth management department under the Attilan Genetic Council, which controls those who have just experienced the Terrigen mutation and are still unable to control their abilities. Regarding military security, the Attilan base is a metal base hidden in a mountain ridge, lacking any external artillery or missile silos, as well as close-in weapon systems for defense. For the Inhumans, their own abilities are more useful than technological weapons.

Information security is the Inhuman race's most powerful security force. However, the Inhuman race's information security, which has never undergone iteration, competition, or changes in requirements, is also lagging behind. Its service system, which can barely be called a strong artificial intelligence, is far inferior to the information attack and defense technologies that the Martian Forge has evolved to defend against the wandering semi-mechanical silicon-based intelligent fragments in the data wilderness.
