Chapter 155 High-Value Pending Clients

Chapter 155 High-Value Pending Clients (First Update!)

"Devils are not like the angels and demons you've dealt with. Mephisto, the king of Hell, is terrifyingly cunning. Even if Mephisto's mortal incarnation is powerless, his words can corrupt. That's what makes devils so terrifying—they can lead you to Hell without you even realizing it, forcing you to sign a pact with them," the Sorcerer Supreme said. "The further you are from Mephisto, the better. Belial was driven out of Hell by Mephisto, so he can't help you in this matter. Even the Queen of Sheba, the embodiment of the Abyss… cough cough… Anyway, your position is too important. Leave those matters to the deacons of the New York Temple."

"Okay... Teacher, are you sure those creatures from the lower planes won't cause any big trouble?"

"Witchheart is an idiot. He never even considered why his father wouldn't descend to Earth. Maybe that's just how young people are—mistaking their elders' composure for weakness and lack of ambition. Of course, it could also be because this Prince of Hell will never see the day he ascends the throne." The Venerable waved his hand dismissively, completely unconcerned that Kamar-Taj's situation was exactly the same as Hell's; the current Sorcerer Supreme had outlived countless Sorcerer Supreme candidates. "Even Mephisto wouldn't dare do that, after all, I'm still here. You should enjoy your weekend; Norwegian red-spotted salmon is a rare delicacy."

Having received the Sorcerer Supreme's explicit orders, Salomon returned to his cabin in the Norwegian countryside, though somewhat unhappy. He had no choice but to obey the Sorcerer Supreme's command. He knew how terrifying Mephisto was; no one knew how many schemes and plots He had devised. For Salomon to face Mephisto now would be like a lamb entering a tiger's den. Before truly confronting Mephisto, the sorcerer could only speculate about Mephisto's thoughts through the book *Das Kapital*. In his view, Mephisto was very likely to risk being attacked by the Sorcerer Supreme to seize his soul.

Because his soul is truly incredibly valuable.

Salomon believed that, according to the Nine Hells Investment Company's valuation, the profit from his soul could far exceed 300%. As a "potential client" with immense potential, countless demons would approach him to sign contracts, wanting him to become a "contract volunteer" or a "soul saver." For now, Salomon could only stay as far away as possible to avoid being targeted by the old demon Mephisto—who knew if Mephisto would offer some kind of "Elikin Soul Plus," "Life Savings Investment Plan," or some kind of "Future-Oriented Platinum Enhanced Version" soul financial product—and then, after being rejected, He would become enraged and use various means to force Salomon to sign a contract.

Unless Salomon masters contract law and finance, he has no intention of confronting Mephisto.

This little log cabin in the Nordic countryside, though just a log cabin, has all the essential amenities. Salomon and Bayonetta plan to use it as a starting point for their weekend getaways. Nothing is better than sitting by a warm fireplace, gazing at the distant green grass, forests, and snow-capped mountains. If there is, then add a delicious dinner—spotted salmon. This fish, which lives in cold waters, has excellent flesh; at least Jeanne and Bayonetta both love it. Salomon has experimented with many ways to cook the salmon: pan-frying, baking, deep-frying, and without exception, all to great acclaim. Besides, Nordic desserts seem to carry the local coolness and ruggedness; syrup made from spruce buds and pine sap are excellent ingredients for desserts.

Salomon even made a pact with his neighbors to go into the forest to find wild chanterelles and berries once summer was over. Chanterelles can be used to make soup, and berries can be made into jam, something every household in the Nordic countryside does. Some hospitable neighbors even gave the newly arrived sorcerer several bags of smoked mackerel balls and a cheese sauce that tasted very similar to yogurt, which was the perfect combination.

Overall, Salomon was quite satisfied with his weekend in the Nordic countryside. To make his perfect weekend even more enjoyable, he left the Cheshire Cats in New York to be cared for by the Scottish elves. To avoid hurting the little guys' feelings, the sorcerer pretended to take the milk out of the refrigerator and forget to put it back, as the Scottish Isaacsons would only accept such payment.

However, even the terrible signal in the Norwegian countryside couldn't stop Nick Fury. Salomon, who was experimenting with smoking salmon, received this disturbing call. "F*uck yourself, Fury," Salomon interrupted before Fury could speak, "I'm busy, I don't know."

"I haven't even said anything yet!" Nick Fury yelled on the other end of the phone. "Don't you already know?"

"Know what?"

"A burning skull is running rampant in the city," he said. "I could tell at a glance that this had something to do with magic, as you surely know."

"I know." Salomon squinted his smoke-filled eyes and added a small piece of pine wood to the smokehouse.

"Are you just going to let this dangerous target roam around like this?" Nick Fury seemed exasperated. "You have no idea how many people he's burned to death!"

"I won't participate in this mission. The other sorcerers of Kamar-Taj will handle this." Salomon shrugged. "As for why I'm not participating... that's what the Sorcerer Supreme ordered. You can appeal."

"Alright, then tell me, how will Kamar-Taj handle this?"

"Oh, we'll leave it alone." The arcane mage blinked. "Of course, I'm joking. This is a lower-plane invasion, so of course we'll hunt down the demons."

"Ah, very well, so the burning skull is the devil?" Nick Fury said. "SWAT bullets are useless against Johnny Blaze. When are you going to resolve this?"

"To be precise, Ghost Rider isn't a demon; he's some kind of possessed spirit," Salomon said while casting a spell to adjust the heat of the smoked fish. "Ghost Rider is hunting demons; his goal is the same as ours."

"So you're just going to leave him alone, is that it?" The director of S.H.I.E.L.D. asked with a hint of exasperation. "Fine, I'll go find Captain America. Hopefully, he's recovering well."

"Ghost Rider burns the souls of the guilty," Salomon said. "Captain America can, but not the others. Their souls aren't as pure as Steve Rogers'."

"Well, thank you for reminding me then," Nick Fury said, quite displeased. "This is something you should be handling."

"Don't think I don't know how happy you are right now—yes! Finally, we've made contact with the magical world from Kamar-Taj!" The sorcerer made a face that no one could see. "Kamar-Taj's duty is to eliminate extradimensional intrusions, and Ghost Rider is harmless to good people. You can send Captain America to find him; I'd love to see a great battle."

"Are you treating this as a performance, Salomon Damonette?" the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. demanded. "Innocent people are dying at Johnny Blaze's hands every single day! Who does he think he is, to judge others?"

"The Spirit of Vengeance originates from Heaven, and he judges according to the Ten Commandments." The sorcerer shrugged. "In a sense, he judges on behalf of God; he is God's warrior. Americans have nothing to do with God."

"Even so, you still have to mention the United States?"

"I just enjoy mocking idiots."
