Chapter 168 The Magical World Has No User Experience

Chapter 168 The Magical World Has No User Experience (Second Update!)

"I thought you were on my side, Salomon." Mephisto held out his hand to Catsley. He only said it; Mephisto wouldn't believe Salomon until he was in hell—or rather, even if Salomon was in hell, Mephisto wouldn't trust him. That's the devil for you; the devil doesn't trust anyone.

"It's a pity my knight is currently tied up, but it's alright. Give me the contract, Carter Slye, and you can be free."

Modu and Kasirios were extremely nervous.

Although Mephisto's avatar appeared weak, no one dared underestimate the devil's magic and schemes, and no one knew when the power of hell would descend upon this avatar. Therefore, Kamar-Taj had only one answer for Mephisto—Mordo stepped forward, the Living Tribunal's scepter elongating and deforming as he swung it forward. But just as the scepter was about to strike Mephisto, the impeccably dressed old gentleman dismissively waved his hand, and a sudden, immense force sent Mordo flying.

He crashed into a tree in the cemetery with a dull thud, then fell to the ground, clearly unable to get up for the time being. Seeing Mordo injured, Cassirios immediately stepped in front of Salomon, orange-red sparks flashing on his white longsword. Their mission was simply to buy time, and Cassirios wanted to ensure everyone's safety while doing so.

This task was a bit difficult, and Carter Slay realized this as well. Just as he was about to retract the contract, Salomon grabbed the parchment. "Don't worry," he said confidently, "it's just a shell. It can't hold much of Mephisto's power. The more you use it, the faster it will die."

Salomon's judgment was correct. As Mephisto used his magic, the body's hair gradually lost its pale gold color, turning a completely deathly white. The avatar's cheekbones protruded, as if the facial bones were about to pierce through the thin skin. It could only be said that Mephisto truly lived up to his title as the Demon King; even his avatars were incredibly harsh, constantly generating value for Hell without receiving any benefit. The old devil, in extracting the remaining value, didn't even spare himself. Salomon quietly said something to Cassirius, who nodded and began casting a spell together with Salomon.

Six magical missiles, trailing blue flames, flew straight from the hands of Kasirius and Salomon toward Mephisto—an attack that was certain to hit. To protect his frail avatar, Mephisto had to cast a spell to block the magical missiles.

But as the power of hell gradually manifested, the body of this avatar became emaciated. At this moment, Mordo seized the opportunity. Seeing that Mephisto was busy defending against the attack and had no time to pay attention to anything else, Mordo got up from the ground. He quickly cast a spell, and the demonic whip struck the demon's body, binding him tightly.

Their goal wasn't to kill the avatar, but to grant it more power. The more power it possessed here, the less Mephisto would have in Hell.

Mephisto obediently gave up resisting, appearing extremely relaxed. "What a pity," the old devil said with a smile, seemingly unconcerned about the earlier conflict. "I just wanted to collect my bill, why are you all so agitated? You know, I've always hated to do things myself."

"What do you mean?" Mordo frowned, still feeling a bit dizzy. "Devil, answer me."

"I still have time." Mephisto seemed to have forgotten his predicament, and he even tried to express his attitude with a shrug. "I always have time. My soul will eventually fall into my hands. I'm very patient."

Immediately afterward, the old demon bound by Mordo vanished, like a frame-dropped image, disappearing without warning from Mordo's spell. Mephisto had escaped; while this wasn't part of Mordo's plan, it was within the Sorcerer Supreme's contingency plan. Therefore, the instant Mephisto disappeared, the ground near the chapel folded up, and cracks like glass appeared in the sky—no one noticed when they entered the Mirror Dimension; the spell seemed to have unfolded silently, engulfing everyone within.

Only the Sorcerer Supreme possessed such magical skill. In other words, the Sorcerer Supreme's spell was already complete before Mephisto disappeared; he simply didn't immediately unleash it to avoid alerting the overly sensitive Mephisto. This mirror dimension continued to expand until the skyscrapers of distant Houston folded into a dome, and the shimmering lights stretched into stars, completely isolating this space from the outside world.

Carter Slade stared in disbelief at the scene before him; he had never imagined such a sight before. "If I hadn't lived long enough," he said, "I would have thought it was a hallucination."

"In a sense, this is an illusion; none of this is real." Salomon helped Mordo to his feet, while Kasirios prepared the portal. "Follow us, Carter Slade. Don't worry, Mephisto can't escape from here, but if the devil discovers the boundary of this mirror dimension, he will..."

"They will come looking for you."

Upon hearing the sound, Salomon turned without hesitation, swinging his longsword past Mordo. Crimson blood flowed from the blade, tracing a huge arc in the air, as if he had slashed a bleeding wound in the very space. Immediately afterward, scorching hellfire ignited the lawn. Kasirius quickly stepped forward, pulling Mordo and Salomon back to avoid the rising flames.

Carter Slay spun the shotgun on his back to face him and fired decisively, but the bullet missed its mark after passing through the flames. At that moment, Mordo's spell was complete. He conjured a shield, separating the arcane mage behind him from the increasingly raging hellfire—but he was clearly not satisfied with this. The Book of Vishanti lacked offensive spells; his earlier use of demonic flames to bind Mephisto was merely a minor trick. Mordo believed that if he were willing to pay the price and use "Crimson Chains of Cetorak," Mephisto wouldn't have escaped so easily.

Now, he wants to make amends for his mistakes.

Before Mordo could continue casting his spell, a portal opened beneath their feet, and the arcane mage and the old knight plummeted from the sky, crashing into the training grounds of Kamar-Taj headquarters. As Salomon rubbed the spot where he had been hit and stood up, he saw the Sorcerer Supreme casting a spell—presumably, the Sorcerer Supreme had also opened the portal.

"teacher……"

"You should know that there's no such thing as user experience in the magical world." Before Salomon could finish speaking, the Venerable interrupted, seemingly making an excuse for his portal, "Don't worry, my portal was timely; Mephisto's avatar couldn't escape."

Modu stood up, head bowed, and remained silent.

"You've done your best, Mordo." Seemingly sensing his disciple's low spirits, the Venerable offered a few words of advice. "No one can force you to use a spell you don't want to use. Kasirius, take the Ghost Rider and go rest; Roxanne is there too."

The Venerable One did not continue to enlighten his disciple, but quickly arranged the work: "Salomon, put the contract in the storage room, and then you will be responsible for handing it over to Vishanti."

"As for you, Mordo, you need to rest. You're the only one who was injured in this operation."

"Yes, Your Excellency." Mordo's face was gloomy, and no one knew whether he had listened or not.
