Chapter 222 A Riot Caused by a Piece of Jewelry

Chapter 222 A Disturbance Caused by a Piece of Jewelry (Second Update)

In legends, alchemists are always depicted with unruly, curly hair, bustling around a large steamer, surrounded by all sorts of strange materials, retrieving various precious metals from their lab equipment amidst a pungent odor. However, legends and reality are often far apart. No alchemist in the world has ever taken a robot toy so seriously, nor has any alchemist ever carefully polished the parts of a toy assembly with various tools.

Natasha was momentarily confused about what Salomon was doing. Although Nick Fury had promised to collect the entire series of Japanese robot anime toys for Salomon in addition to the agreed-upon payment, and even specifically instructed Natasha to leave the toys at the base to persuade the sorcerer to visit, it was currently working hours, and Coulson's body was still lying on the operating table below!

Just as Agent Romanov was about to offer a word of warning, he noticed Salomon suddenly become agitated. The reason was that the chest armor of the limited-edition Bandai Unicorn Gundam he was assembling wouldn't budge, and he dared not use brute force. The arcane mage let out a long sigh, seemingly exhaling his soul—he wasn't playing around. Although he had a deep passion for collecting Gundams, the mission was imminent, and he was merely practicing construct assembly before the surgery began. Hmm, that's a good excuse for slacking off; he can use it again next time.

"Don't be so tense." The sorcerer noticed Agent Romanov's expression. "Agent Coulson hasn't grown maggots yet. There's still time."

"That's not what you said back then. You said I'd only been dead for a minute." Natasha's eyes narrowed, clearly displeased. "When did you become as annoying as Stark? I just wanted you to be serious. Agent Coulson has been undergoing surgery for several days now, and his medical records are right next to you, but you haven't even looked at them!"

Salomon suspected that Natasha still held a grudge against him for killing her in Salem; otherwise, she wouldn't be so harsh at this moment. The sorcerer felt guilty; if Natasha remembered how decisively he had abandoned her soul, Salomon couldn't guarantee she wouldn't kick him.

"The doctor did a great job; the heart surgery was perfect." Salomon put down his model kit and picked up the medical record, flipping through it. It detailed Coulson's medication and symptoms during the first six surgeries. More of a surgical record than a medical record, it was a full six inches thick, and the arcane mage didn't have the patience to read it all. He only looked at the most important part: the symptoms that occurred when Agent Coulson was treated with the GH325 series of drugs—thanks to Nick Fury's preservation measures, Agent Coulson's body showed no signs of change, not even his blood had deteriorated. But as the surgery dragged on, if Agent Coulson couldn't regain vital signs, even if GH325 could revive him, the low temperature in the operating room would cause blood clots to kill him.

"Okay~" The sorcerer stood up from his chair, a helpless expression on his face, and extended his hand for Agent Romanov to help him remove his tuxedo, dark blue vest, and leather shoes, and put on operating room slippers. She led Salomon through a thorough handwashing procedure according to surgical protocols, and after entering the operating room, she changed Salomon into a sterile surgical gown and plastic gloves. "You smell quite nice," Natasha winked at him while his hands couldn't touch sterile items, and said with a smile, "No body odor, but rather a grassy scent."

Natasha's skills were still too shallow, and Salomon had succumbed to too many witches' temptations; this little teasing was nothing to him. Salomon rolled his eyes and walked to the operating table, where Agent Coulson lay. "You've both signed the contract I gave you, right?" he asked the two doctors beside the operating table, one of whom was the doctor who had come out to greet Natasha and Salomon. After seeing them nod, Salomon placed his gloved hand on Agent Coulson's chest.

"Then you should know that what follows must not be spoken of." He reached for the briefcase Natasha had taken into the operating room. The briefcase was open, filled with powder reflecting various colors of light. The sorcerer reached out and grasped some diamond powder. Behind him, a gigantic white spirit that almost filled the operating room appeared. The spirit's face was indistinct; only a radiant sword and a shield decorated with the triune Vishanti symbol were clearly visible.

These are spirit guardians he summoned to protect him during his spellcasting; any hostile creature that approaches him will be attacked.

"Now, it's magic time."

"So that's why you came home late tonight? I can smell the disinfectant, the sea, and even a hint of a red-haired woman on you!" Bayonetta toyed with the ancient Egyptian Queen Nahtap beaded bracelet in her hand. This item would be a national treasure in a museum, but everyone in this room wasn't focused on its historical value; rather, they were concerned with its beauty. For witches and sorcerers, that was what mattered most. They had plenty of historical artifacts at their disposal; ancient Egyptian items were nothing special.

Whether Nick Fury stole the jewelry from the museum or it's a replica makes no difference; it's not a magical item anyway, and Salomon can enchant it later while making the Alchemist Maid.

"Well, I have to support my family, you know. Kamar-Taj's expenses and my living expenses are two different things. I need to have my own property—Byron's house is for sale right now, we can go take a look if you'd like. How about we go hunting for the Irish goblins' treasure next weekend? It's a whole warehouse full of gold coins! Or how about we go on a picnic in Avalon? I'll go ask His Holiness for the address." Salomon sat down next to Bayonetta with a smile, changing the subject. He picked up the bracelet and put it on Bayonetta's finger.

When he finished his work, Natasha handed him the jewelry made of pure gold, lapis lazuli, lapis lazuli, and stained glass. The astonished look on her face was something the sorcerer would never forget. Agent Romanov hadn't expected that Salomon's painstaking spellcasting was merely to obtain an ancient Egyptian piece of jewelry for his lover, especially since it was very likely genuine. She was surprised by Nick Fury's generosity, but also by Salomon's absurd values; this man seemed completely indifferent to money, only wanting gold, equivalent artifacts, or gemstones.

"Not bad." The witch gave the sorcerer a kiss, while Jeanne stared intently at Salomon, seemingly waiting for the sorcerer to give her something. She didn't want any jewelry; she wanted Salomon to prove that he treated all witches equally, to show that his feelings for Ceressa were just normal friendship... Well, she couldn't keep up the story.

As a family in a sense, Salomon should give her something in return. She needs to ensure that the sorcerer doesn't give these things to other women, otherwise Joan of Arc will use a knife and a pistol to take back what belongs to Ceresia. This is an act of responsibility towards Ceresia, not because she wants those things. You must understand the difference!

"Where are my things?" After a long while, Joan of Arc saw Salomon make no move to take out anything again. She saw him just nestled on the sofa with Bayonetta, telling boring jokes. Under these circumstances, Joan of Arc couldn't help but ask the crucial question.

"Oh?" Bayonetta pushed up her glasses, the glare obscuring her eyes. "Darling, you seem to have forgotten the gift for Joan of Arc."

"A gift? What gift?" Salomon didn't react for a moment.

He then saw Joan of Arc's face turn red.

"I wasn't asking for a gift! I just wanted to check if you'd given a gift to another woman, that's all!"

"Oh? Really?" Bayonetta's lips curled into a teasing smile. "You really didn't want this yourself?"

"Absolutely not, Ceresia, you have to believe me!"

"But that's not what you said last night~"

"Celessa!" Joan of Arc, enraged, drew her pistol.
