Chapter 242 Child Protection Act
Chapter 242 Child Protection Law (Second Update)
"Master," the android asked Salomon, who had just landed on the ground, "what should we do with this boy? And those mercenaries, not all of them are dead."
"Then send them to hell." The sorcerer on horseback waved his hand impatiently. "Later, we'll go and fetch the boy's mother and Johnny Blaze, and hand them over to the priest. Mephisto needs the boy anyway, so we'll just watch over them—just don't let the priest perform any purification rituals before the demon incarnation appears. I want you to stay with the boy at all times; after all, how can you catch a big fish without bait?"
"Master, what I mean is, how are we going to get this boy and his mother back? Pegasus doesn't want to take so many people." Hearing this, the sorcerer quickly looked down at Pegasus, his large, round, moist eyes revealing a look of disdain. Salomon seemed to hear Pegasus questioning him, "Why don't you buy a car?" The scene was somewhat comical. Salomon quickly bribed Pegasus with the candy he had on him to prevent it from deliberately throwing the passengers off—something Pegasus was capable of doing, and it had done more than once. So Salomon could only bribe Pegasus with treats, just like he would with those coin-operated, music-playing cars and ponies only for children under five at the supermarket entrance, to keep the horse in a good mood.
"Move them aside, including that Ghost Rider covered in tar." Salomon took out his phone, thought for a moment, then dialed the Kamar-Taj London Sanctuary, explained his situation, and sent his coordinates to Nick Fury. He then realized he had been too careless, so he pulled two handcuffs from his dimensional bag and instructed the android to handcuff the boy's mother and the Ghost Rider.
After an unknown amount of time, a Quinjet landed in front of the arcane mage and Pegasus. "Very good," Salomon said mockingly to Nick Fury as he stepped out of the Quinjet. "Did you see those two lights? Even the ambulances from the border city hospitals would have arrived faster than you. Are you really sure a Quinjet is worth the price?"
"You little bastard," Nick Fury said, giving him the middle finger, "is that devil's son with you?"
Salomon wagged her finger, and the android emerged from the shadows carrying the boy. She was so elusive that several agents accompanying Nick Fury nearly opened fire. "This is the boy," Salomon said, "along with Ghost Rider and the boy's mother. Don't look at me like that; I wouldn't have been here this long if it weren't for making you your porters."
"What's next?" Director Fury glanced at the boy Agent Melinda had brought over; the medical personnel on the Quinjet were examining him. "Are you sure this is the boy? He doesn't look like he has horns," he said. "I thought the devil's son would have wings."
"He's too young now to have received the gift of demon blood. But that day isn't far off. If we don't deal with him, he'll eventually bring up Mephisto's true form."
Agent Melinda was extremely dissatisfied with Salomon's answer. "Deal with?" she demanded of the arcane mage, "Deal with what?"
"That's the priest's business," Salomon said, spreading his hands. "However, I won't agree to the purification ritual until the child's father appears, whether it's prayer or whatever. Nick Fury, if you want something, you should agree to my idea and wait for Mephisto's avatar to gather that group of arms dealers, drug dealers, mercenaries, and devil-worshipping cults to capture the child. Then you'll get what you want."
"Very good." Nick Fury nodded. "Father Moru gave me an address; it's where the purification ritual is performed. He's on the Quinjet right now. Would you like to come with us?"
"Of course." The sorcerer nodded. "If it weren't for being lazy, do you think I would have waited for you?"
Salomon had taken a nap on the Quinjet and was now extremely glad he had used his necromancy research on the androids; the hard airplane seats were no match for the androids' supple thighs. Across from him, Father Morru was also slumped in his seat, seemingly drunk. Salomon didn't even know how he had gotten the alcohol on the Quinjet (Nick Fury had taken it from the Airbus).
The arcane mage ignored the various physical examinations conducted by the S.H.I.E.L.D. medical personnel on the Devil's Son and Ghost Rider, since they wouldn't find anything anyway. He was more concerned about the boy's mother. Shortly after the Quinjet took off, the boy's mother awoke in extreme panic, scratching and biting wildly, but was eventually subdued by the agents. She gradually calmed down, and Father Morru, who wasn't completely drunk, explained the situation to her. Agent Melinda also told her about the fate of the mercenaries—the Quinjet didn't have enough space, and their bodies had to be dumped there.
"Thank God," Nadya said, her eyes brimming with tears, "I'm finally rid of them."
The Quinjet suddenly lurched slightly, then the rear door slowly opened, and paramedics and agents led Ghost Rider, the boy, and his mother off the plane. When the boy's mother asked where they were, Agent Melinda replied, "Airbus."
"Master, what do you think that purification ritual will be?" After most of the people in the Quinjet had left, the android asked Salomon, who had just woken up and was trying to stay in bed on the android's lap, "Do you think it will be a baptism? I read in a book that the baptism is a very important ritual in the Abrahamic pantheon."
“No, that boy has already been baptized, and Catholicism isn't Baptism; they don't do double baptisms.” The sorcerer could no longer pretend to be asleep. He sat up straight, stretched, and listened to his joints cracking. “If you ask me, the safest way is to just kill the boy, to prevent him from falling into Mephisto's hands if we fail. Of course, many people won't agree to this—especially Agent Melinda May. When I said I wanted to 'deal with' the boy, she practically tried to tear me to pieces, as if she were the child's mother.”
"We need to rest now." Agent Melinda May walked into the Quinjet with a cold expression, issuing an ultimatum to Salomon and Father Moru, who were trying to stay on the plane. "Then the team will follow you to the place where the ceremony will be held."
"Very good." The sorcerer nodded, then pointed to the priest lying opposite him. "Then please hide the wine in the bar first. I don't want that drunkard to completely lose consciousness. We still need him."
Agent Melinda did not answer, but instead disembarked from the Quinjet and returned to Airbus command.
"See, this woman's still holding a grudge." Salomon stood up, walked over to the priest, and slapped him across the face. "Get up, you drunkard."
"Have we arrived?" Father Moru opened his eyes and yawned widely. "I'm so thirsty..."
"There's no alcohol here, so stay sober." The sorcerer led the android down the path. "Hurry up, we're about to face a whole bunch of Mephisto's henchmen."
