"Your Excellency." Kasirius bowed respectfully before quickly looking up at the Sorcerer Supreme seated behind the low table. His anxiety was palpable, a unease that seemed to emanate from the furrows of his brow, from the corners of his eyes, and from his flaring nostrils. Anyone could easily sense his agitation. He couldn't help but be anxious, for he had received numerous messages from Salomon Damonnet, and the Eye of Agamotto and the planetary defense system had detected dark magic fluctuations from the Aetherial plane. Yet, the Sorcerer Supreme remained unperturbed, seemingly allowing his favorite disciple to confront the forces of evil head-on.

Mordo always said, "The Venerable One has his own thoughts," a statement Kasirius disliked, sounding as if he'd lost his mind. He knew every decision the Venerable One made had complex reasons, but he needed to understand this—he had watched Salomon grow up, and since losing his family and entering Kamar-Taj, Salomon, this newborn infant, had become his object of transference. Salomon was too exceptional; he treated this child as if he were his own child who had never existed, and he was always proud of him—a feeling that even lessened his wife's screams from the abyss and distanced him from endless nightmares.

He had to find out the truth about this; he couldn't let the child get hurt.

"Mephisto has entered into a pact with me." This was the only reply from the Venerable One, and Cassirius felt that this answer could not extinguish the fire in his heart. "Why?" Cassirius raised his head with utter disrespect, questioning the Venerable One, "We should have attacked long ago to destroy Mephisto's forces; Salomon is already pleading for help."

The Venerable One did not take Kasirius's offense to heart; she glanced at her disciple, who was on the verge of being consumed by anxiety.

"Mephisto doesn't do anything that doesn't benefit him," the Venerable One shrugged, though no one saw it. "Since Mephisto dared to sign such a contract, it means He has other plans. The so-called reclaiming of the avatar is very likely just one of his objectives. Before we truly understand Mephisto's thoughts, every step we take is very likely to fall into His calculations. The Eye of Agamotto cannot fully predict Salomon's fate, and the silver key on his chest makes it even more difficult to foresee him. But don't worry, Kasirius, he can handle it. I've already prepared countermeasures for him—to you he's a child, but to Mephisto, his identity is not so simple. Salomon's presence there is also a deterrent to Mephisto."

Kasirius pursed his thin lips and turned to look aside. He didn't doubt the Supreme Sorcerer's methods, and he knew that the Supreme Sorcerer's prepared methods to deal with Mephisto would definitely work, but that didn't mean he could put aside his worries and, like Mordo, entrust the matter of thought to the Sorcerer Supreme.

As for the method used, Kasirius couldn't guess. He only knew that the Venerable had summoned three magicians from the Merlin School to the Kamar-Taj headquarters. He glanced at Balthazar, who sat silently to the side, a fellow who bore a resemblance to Johnny Blaze. The magician was still wearing that tattered leather trench coat that looked like it hadn't been washed in months, sitting behind a low table with his eyes closed, seemingly dozing off, while his disciple and wife were touring the various facilities of the Kamar-Taj headquarters.

The Venerable One noticed Cassirios's absent-mindedness and his scrutinizing gaze.

"The Merlin School has connections to Kamar-Taj, and what they brought is the means I prepared for Salomon. If you've studied planar geometry, you'll guess what I'm talking about. Unfortunately, I haven't taught you that part yet—it's about the relationship between the Material Plane and the Dirac Sea. This is advanced content in planar geometry, and learners must have a certain foundation in mathematics and physics," the Sorcerer Supreme said cheerfully. "You can still catch up now, Kasirius. Salomon's learning progress is much faster than yours. As for other issues, you don't need to worry. Salomon is more powerful than you think, and he gained more there than you imagined—remember to reply to those two witches in the same way; now is not the time for them to make their appearance."

Salomon's gains were indeed substantial. While he had diverted the necromancer's attention, the homunculus not only brought him the necromancer's head but also a tall woman in a black dress and bright red lipstick. However, when the homunculus grabbed the woman's long, dark, curly hair, her former elegance vanished. Her tight-fitting dress was dusty and tattered, and her makeup was a mess of tears. She screamed, pleading and repeatedly hitting the homunculus's arm, trying to stand up again, but the homunculus coldly led her before the sorcerer.

The sorcerer gave the homunculus a look (actually a telepathic message), and the homunculus shoved the woman to the ground, stepping on her chest. With a scream and a rapid-fire string of curses, the woman's black dress ripped open by the homunculus, revealing a striking inverted cross and six-pointed star tattoo on her exposed, white, full breasts—the symbol of a Russian Southern Cross cult, a cult of pure demon worship and one of Kamar-Taj's long-standing targets. However, because these cults are hidden among ordinary people, even Kamar-Taj's sorcerers find it difficult to identify them, so it's normal for some to slip through the net. Salomon simply hadn't expected to encounter a demon worship cult from Moscow in Romania.

"Is it alright?" The woman's English was thick with trilled "r" sounds. She no longer tried to hide her impressive figure, but instead let go of her arms and displayed it openly. Her torn clothes were curled up at the base of her thighs. She rubbed her legs together, slowly pulling off the last of her clothes, which finally hung on her upturned toes.

"I am willing to serve..." The woman's tone was extremely soft, yet her voice resonated in everyone's ears, stirring their heartstrings. Captain Rogers immediately turned his head, while the other team members stared wide-eyed, only Salomon and the android remained unmoved. One was uninterested, the other completely immune to it; Salomon kicked the woman, telling her to behave.

The creed of the Southern Cross is that "man should not restrain his physical desires, but should satisfy them by all means." This devil-worshipping cult achieves its goals by seducing members of the opposite or same sex, making it an organization with limited direct combat capabilities but immense destructive power. The emergence of this organization served as a wake-up call for Salomon. Mephisto's cults did not include the Southern Cross; this cult belonged to the worship of Lilith, the succubus, the embodiment of storms and the goddess of vampires in ancient Sumerian mythology—had the lords of Hell formed some kind of alliance? Did the Sorcerer Supreme know of this?

The sorcerer had the android step on the woman's hands, then squatted down, taking out a small knife to begin interrogation. Although Captain Rogers wanted to stop him, Salomon acted quickly, and the android's greatsword was very intimidating. These cultists, who regularly used addictive drugs in their rituals, didn't have strong willpower. The moment the sorcerer's blade made its first cut, she confessed everything she knew.

She was merely a messenger, a figurehead to oversee the attacks of the dark wizards and supernatural beings. It was she who forced the necromancer to cast his spell again, for she represented the devil behind her. Though she possessed little magic, her devilish beauty and cunning gave her considerable influence within the Southern Cross and other devil-worshipping cults like the Black Angels. In blood sacrifice rituals, she even shared Lilith's offerings to maintain her appearance. The woman's final words caused Salomon to narrow his eyes—"She wants King Solomon!"—This woman spoke the truth; she uttered these words after the sorcerer had peeled the skin from her chest, and these words had been repeatedly verified through both magical and physical torture. Soon, she begged for death.

Captain Rogers was deeply dissatisfied with Salomon's cruel interrogation methods. In his view, such barbaric acts as skinning people for interrogation should not exist in civilized society. The sorcerer was somewhat unimpressed, even amused, as there was always a dark humor in such Anglo-Saxon pronouncements. He dusted off the shroud and stood up. When he turned to look at the team members, none of them met his gaze. He shook his head and prepared to return to the monastery. "What are you going to do?" Captain Rogers asked.

"Prepare for a great battle," the sorcerer said. "We have more than one enemy."
