Chapter 323 Precision-Crafted Powered Longsword (Second Update!)

While this story has extremely low credibility, it reveals a lot of key information. The "shaky road to heaven" in Asgard was not created by the Aesir; Asgard is merely a vessel for this great magic. Simeonjog of Heimdall carries the spell to control this magic—to be precise, anyone with certain authority over Asgard can summon the Bifrost.

Odin can do it, and so can Thor wielding Stormbreaker; this authority was incorporated into the bloodline of the Aesir gods by Odin.

When Queen Frigga invited Salomon to lunch, he saw Thor at the table, who had just returned to Asgard from Vanaheim. He wanted to give Salomon a sweaty hug, but Frigga stopped him with a look, preventing the impolite act. Odin didn't come to lunch, Thor wasn't in a hurry to find his father, and Queen Frigga was used to the Allfather's absence.

"How's Jane?" Saul sniffed, a little embarrassed, and asked, "Does she know you're coming...? Did she say anything?"

Salomon quickly assured Thor that he had absolutely no idea Jane Foster was his physics mentor, because Heimdall couldn't see who was wrapped in the Relic Cloak. In Thor's eyes, all humans on Earth should know each other, communicating through some kind of "electronic device," so he assumed Salomon knew Jane Foster, Stark knew Jane Foster, and the whole Earth knew her.

The arcane mage didn't correct Thor's straightforward thinking; he simply brushed the matter off with a few perfunctory words. After learning at the dinner table that Salomon would be staying in Asgard for some time, Thor immediately welcomed him—he extended his arm to the arcane mage, assuring him that he would train Salomon into a muscular physique in the training grounds. However, as lunch progressed, Thor increasingly sensed something was amiss.

Since lunch was overseen by Queen Frigga, alcohol was prohibited. However, Frigga didn't seem to care too much about the rules; she advised Salomon to simply pick up the unidentified steak on the table and take a few bites instead of using a knife. Saul did so, and after a moment's hesitation, Salomon decided to follow suit.

Thor had been curious to see how much Salomon, this human, could eat, but to his surprise, as soon as he finished a rib, Salomon picked up the next one. Thor's eyes widened, and he quickly finished the rib, reaching for another with his greasy hand. The maids brought over clear, sweet and sour fruit juice to alleviate the greasiness of the roasted meat. Thor tilted his head back and downed the juice in one gulp, his eyes darting sideways at Salomon, whose movements seemed slow and deliberate but whose eating speed was actually incredibly fast.

So Thor quickened his eating pace, while Queen Frigga ate slowly and deliberately, clinging to the simplest wish of all mothers: that her child could eat a lot. She watched the little competition at the table with a smile, making no attempt to stop Thor and Salomon from their eating contest (though this was Thor's doing) – in the past, only Loki would compare such things with Thor when they were young, when they believed that the one who could eat the most would become king. But once Loki began his studies, he stopped engaging in such foolish competitions.

Thinking of Loki, Queen Frigga felt another pang of sadness.

Now imprisoned in the dungeon, Loki refuses to admit his wrongdoing, yet Salomon cannot deny the authority of the Allfather and release him without permission. Because of Loki's previous actions, Asgard paid a huge sum to Kamar-Taj, a fact Salomon was aware of. That money was exchanged for gold on Kamar-Taj, then for local currency on Earth, and deposited into the accounts of each victim's family. Many of Kamar-Taj's accountants were responsible for this task.

Loki has now become her most troublesome child, reminding her of what the Sorcerer Supreme had told her many years ago about the rebellious nature of teenage boys. The Sorcerer Supreme had fully expressed his concerns about Salomon's impending adolescence, yet Salomon's behavior was unlike that of a typical boy; he hadn't even shown the slightest signs of rebellion—which became the reason the Sorcerer Supreme boasted about to the Aesir.

Queen Frigg decided that if she had the chance, she would definitely read some educational books about Earth and then discuss this issue with the Sorcerer Supreme. She wanted to know how Earthlings solve this problem.

"You'll definitely become a powerful warrior." Thor casually wiped the grease from his mouth with his arm, earning an angry glare from Queen Frigga. He then obediently took the damp towel from the maid and wiped his face clean. The Queen shook her head in dissatisfaction, and he could only grin foolishly and wipe his face again. In Thor's mind, Salomon's large appetite = Salomon can become a warrior = Salomon is a good person = Salomon can definitely become a good friend; past behavior was just a misunderstanding. At the time, everyone had different positions, and some friction was normal.

Salomon let out a small burp, and Thor laughed, patting the arcane on the back. Salomon glared at Thor, who had nearly vomited. Thor, completely oblivious to this, even invited Salomon to join him for after-dinner exercise, a swordsmanship training session with the Warriors Three.

Then he was slapped on the head and kicked out by Frigga. Human bodies are different from Asgardian bodies; humans can't exercise immediately after eating, as they have appendixes. However, although he couldn't immediately participate in training, Thor, upon learning that Salomon hadn't brought any weapons to Asgard, still took a finely crafted adamantite longsword from the armory for Salomon—this sword had a very strong Asgardian style; its energy field could not only be projected outwards but also allow the blade to penetrate the armor of some spaceships.

The reason Asgards used melee weapons as their primary weaponry was because Asgardian warriors frequently employed boarding maneuvers in interstellar warfare. Asgardian ships were fast and small, allowing numerous small Asgardian vessels to swarm enemy ships with large groups of soldiers once war broke out. Armed with weapons, they would jump from their own ships onto the enemy vessels, then use their weapons to cut through the hulls and launch a surprise attack.

It is precisely because of this group of valiant men capable of physical interstellar boarding that the Asgardians possess such a strong sense of martial prowess, choosing melee weapons as their primary means of combat. The longsword Thor gave Salomon was an adamantite longsword reserved for centurions, as he believed Salomon's martial prowess was worthy of the centurion's title.

The sorcerer accepted Thor's offer and promised to attend the training session that evening.
