Chapter 392 Delayed Talk
Chapter 392 Delayed Talk (First Update)
"Agent Coulson, I need you to speak with Salomon Damonette." Through Airbus's communication system, S.H.I.E.L.D. Level 7 Agent Phil Coulson received this call from his superior while the plane was cruising. Before he could say anything, Maria Hill continued.
"This order comes from Director Fury," Maria Hill said in her usual calm tone. "It will not be recorded. You will receive assistance from SHIELD's internal psychology experts. They will analyze the target's psychological state and guide your conversation."
"Can I ask why?" Agent Coulson didn't argue. He knew that an order was an order, and since Nick Fury had chosen to have Maria Hill inform him, it meant that Nick Fury had more important things to do. And all he could do was obey orders.
"You will receive a classified document shortly." Maria Hill manipulated the computer in front of her. This document included a recording of the conversation between Steve Rogers and Salomon, which had been sent to the Airbus command system terminal. Intelligence analysts had gleaned information from the conversation, along with Salomon's psychological state analysis. Only Agent Coulson had the necessary privileges to access it. If Agent Coulson carefully examined the report on the psychological state, he would see the names of the psychologists who would be assisting him.
The document contained no information about Salomon's sainthood.
"That little brat, like me, doesn't want his identity as the Holy Son exposed. He hasn't mentioned it to Rogers at all." Nick Fury's expression showed that he had Salomon completely under his thumb, just like he was eating a bag of Doritos chips. He said to Agent Hill with certainty, "Salomon has always been preaching science to me. He believes that science is the only path for humanity's development, and magic is only the privilege of a few. If he really revealed his identity as the Holy Son, it would mean that he acknowledged God, the legitimacy of religion, and the existence of magic. That's something he absolutely doesn't want to see. He's bargaining with me! Otherwise, he wouldn't have guided me to have S.H.I.E.L.D. report the Asgardians as aliens instead of gods."
"So what should we do?" Agent Hill asked. "Doesn't he want to use this identity to obtain things that ordinary people can't?"
"Keep the controversy to a minimum. Since he's unwilling to disclose it, then we won't. Let's pretend this doesn't exist, otherwise, given the current global situation, who knows how many more people would die in the Middle East." Nick Fury waved his hand, then leaned back in his high-backed chair in his office. "He doesn't care about those things. Don't think too badly of him; he's the same kind of person as me, and I admire him."
"The same kind of people? I've never seen a worse adjective, especially for people in nonviolent organizations," Agent Hill thought. Of course, if Nick Fury knew what his adjutant was thinking, he'd laugh himself hoarse.
A nonviolent organization? Kamar-Taj is the ruler of the magical world, the executioner of all extradimensional beings. The successor of such an organization is no pushover. Nobody knows why Maria Hill would consider Salomon a "nonviolent" civilian, even though he has already participated in two battles against alien invasions. Perhaps it's because of his age; Salomon is too young, just like the students at S.H.I.E.L.D. (the science team is recruited from the academy and is generally young; the intelligence and operations teams are recruited from the military and are on average older).
“You should know I still have a mission, sir,” Agent Coulson sighed. Salomon’s movements had greatly impacted his work progress. “The situation at Havenworth Federal Prison is related to the Centipede Warriors, and that mysterious Clairvoyant.” The Level 7 agent scratched his head. Since joining S.H.I.E.L.D., his hairline had been receding steadily, and since meeting Salomon, he felt it was receding at an accelerated pace.
He wanted to maintain a good appearance before retirement. Agent Coulson said, "I don't have the time or energy to check on Salomon Damonette's condition. I haven't even opened that document, sir. You can take it back."
"You can take a look." Agent Maria Hill refused to take the document back. "You're one of the few S.H.I.E.L.D. agents that Salomon Damonette takes seriously. Didn't you two solve a ghost case together before? Perhaps Salomon Damonette has information about that 'clairvoyant,' that strange prophet. It sounds like magic; maybe that clairvoyant is a wizard. Salomon Damonette has also demonstrated prophetic abilities before; he should be able to help you."
“That sounds reasonable.” Agent Coulson nodded. “But I’ve already got Peterson and I have leads. I don’t think I need Salomon Damonette’s help right now.”
"It's Salomon Damonette who needs your help, but it seems his matter can be put on hold for now." Agent Maria Hill recalled Nick Fury's words and Steve Rogers' feedback. Based on her experience, she judged that Salomon wouldn't cause any major trouble for the time being.
"Once we catch that precognitive seer, we should meet with Salomon as soon as possible."
"Is this permission from the direct reporting office?"
"Yes."
"I understand, sir."
----------
Athena lay back on the sofa, a purplish-red wine stain still clinging to the glass in her hand, several empty wine bottles rolling beneath the sofa. This amount of wine wasn't enough to intoxicate a goddess, but she simply enjoyed watching Salomon bustling around after she'd had her drink.
This was more like a little family joke; Athena would often give Salomon a sweet kiss after he finished his work.
Perhaps due to cultural differences, this Cretan goddess, like a witch, didn't like wearing fully covered clothes at home. Her pure white nightgown had already slipped down to her waist and was about to fall further, yet she showed no intention of pulling it up. On the contrary, she didn't mind Salomon's admiring gaze upon her body. This was a cultural difference; she believed her body was perfect, and her beautifully sculpted muscles and full breasts were her pride, nothing to be ashamed of.
Especially when it came to Salomon, Athena always felt he should take a better look at his own body to develop a proper sense of aesthetics. "Men tend to accumulate a lot of fat in their abdomen after middle age, while women accumulate it in their thighs and buttocks," she said, pointing to her own abs, her long golden hair cascading lazily over her shoulders. Athena spoke in a tone reeking of alcohol, "But you don't need to worry about that. You should feel lucky, because you're not mortal. Since you're not mortal, don't have mortal worries. Tell me, the goddess of wisdom is watching over you."
"More than one troublesome thing, but none of them are too big of a problem." Salomon shook his head and continued sweeping up the trash on the ground. Root's departure was entirely within his expectations, but the network was already installed, free, and fast, and the new server array was already running. Salomon had even set up a low-temperature spell to help cool the servers.
It was impossible for that machine to hand over its executor to Salomon, but after ROOT ran away, another problem arose—Samun Shaw also disappeared. This brings us to another matter.
Recently, a guy called the Punisher has appeared in the city. He hunts down gangsters in New York City, especially those Irish immigrants who have formed criminal organizations. Originally, this matter didn't have much to do with Salomon, but Samun Shaw mentioned it while drinking with the witches. She said that Reese seemed to have clashed with this guy, and the two even fought.
She said Reese had been shot, but he didn't complain. He knew the Punisher deserved to kill those he did, though Reese and Finch didn't approve of the Punisher's methods. "I actually kind of admire that guy," Samun Shaw said, his eyes wide as he stared at the bottle in Salomon's hand. "At least I don't dislike him. I quite like the Punisher's straightforward approach. Since Elijah went to jail, the New York underworld has never been this quiet. Every thug fears the Punisher will come knocking. Okay, give me the bottle, you promised!"
Salomon didn't know if Samun Shaw's disappearance was related to the Punisher, but he had to go check on the witch's best friend since she was in trouble.
Only after resolving this matter will he have time to go to the Middle East.
