Chapter 447 Elders

Chapter 447 Elders (Second Update! Requesting Recommendation Votes!)

After dealing with the family of delusional, religiously obsessed individuals, Salomon didn't linger. He instructed Dinah to select five fully armed sorority members to stay and monitor the Malik family, while the other androids departed in their aircraft after burying the security personnel's bodies in the garden. They needed to discuss the rotation list for the Malik family.

Compared to their arduous daily training, this mission was like a vacation for them. A week later, five more androids would arrive at the Malik family to replace the original five.

Salomon brought Stephanie Malik along. This was a warning to Gideon Malik, and also a way to demonstrate his power to his current subordinates. He opened a portal, taking Stephanie to the Immortal City. The thousands of feet of glowing rock suspended hundreds of meters in the air, the incessantly running automated construction machines, and the ancient sculptures left behind in the streets throughout history all broadened Stephanie's horizons.

This was once the greatest city in the world, and now it is recovering from the death of war.

This was a real underground city, and Ms. Malik, who had been somewhat dejected, immediately perked up. The technology here far surpassed that of the outside world, and it also possessed a rich artistic atmosphere, showcasing architectural styles and art forms from all over the world. The Wakanda renovation team was nearing completion of clearing the worst-hit areas; the brand-new buildings were constructed according to Salomon's Victorian style specifications, given that Salomon had hired top-tier architects at great expense.

The towering clock tower, in particular, is full of Gothic architectural style. The office building that Salomon requested was built as a Gothic church, and it was not considered complete until the stained glass windows and murals were finished.

Everything before her eyes thrilled Stephanie.

After the contract was signed, the rise and fall of the Malik family were tied to this magical stranger. Although she now knew that Salomon was the knight from the Battle of New York, before that she thought he was just someone similar to Tony Stark that S.H.I.E.L.D. had found, until she saw Salomon's territory with her own eyes—anyone who knows that their new boss has such powerful abilities will have their initial trepidation calmed down.

“I promised your father I would broaden your horizons.” Salomon found Stephanie a pair of sunglasses and a well-fitting outfit, forcing Stephanie to cast a suspicious glance at him. The sorcerer could only shrug helplessly. “Sorry, these are the only women’s clothing we have here. Maid attire is the sorority’s everyday wear, but it’s better than you wearing bloodstained clothes.”

"Where are we going?" Stephanie asked, clutching her clothes.

"Let's go to outer space," Salomon said. "Let's go eat Xandar snail ice cream. It's a new dish in Xandar's capital, and it's become popular with several alien civilizations. If you want, you can also bring some back for your Hydra god; it hasn't eaten in years."

"That sounds disgusting." For some reason, Stephanie suddenly became confident, as if her faith, once destroyed, had been rapidly rebuilt. She held her head high, displaying the air of a powerful heiress. "I feel like you have something to say, don't you? Is there something you want to tell me? My father will agree to the reward you offer, but I won't."

"You haven't shown your worth yet, girl." Salomon narrowed his eyes, looking down at Stephanie. "Here, only those who are valuable survive."

“Hydra is the same, even more brutal,” Stephanie said calmly. She had visited Hydra’s youth training camps, where the kids were all from the lower and middle classes of Hydra, and this was the only way for them to climb the ranks. “I noticed that the people around you are all combat personnel; there are very few civilian staff, not even a single one. I can fill that gap. I have a high degree in management, and I can even be an accountant.”

"It seems this place suits you well. I happen to have a lot of paperwork that needs help." The sorcerer took her hand, his captivating charm returning. Even for a woman of Stephanie's background, Salomon's allure was quite potent. "Prepare for the daily grind here. I'll be watching you." His words were both encouragement and a threat; Salomon seemed to be waiting for Stephanie to slip up. "You will gain what you desire, whether it be youthful beauty or power."

"Can I be like those people around you?" Stephanie followed the arcane mage's lead, "Can you give me that? Or are they all some kind of super soldiers?"

"Sure, as long as you can get your job done."

Only the Bar Without Doors allows spellcasters to speak freely. This magically constructed bar has no fixed door or location; it can appear anywhere. To experienced spellcasters, the Bar Without Doors is like an old-fashioned bar in the West, with a glowing bat-door.

"you……"

"I'm so sorry, really." Salomon apologized before Kasirius could finish speaking. He apologized for his double life; he had recently neglected not only the witches but also many of the sorcerers in Kamar-Taj. He picked up his ice-cold beer bottle and clinked glasses with Kasirius. However, Kasirius shook his head.

"I don't mean to blame you, son," he said. "You're all grown up now. You got into a university that only rich people and geniuses can get into, and you even have a girlfriend. I have nothing to complain about, really."

Kasirius downed half a bottle of Heineken in one gulp. He let out a long sigh of relief and burped contentedly.

"Damn it, ice-cold beer should be drunk in big gulps."

Encouraged by him, Salomon pretended to be a rare drinker and downed the entire bottle of beer in one go.

"That's right, that's what a young man should be like! See that!" He pointed at Salomon, looking around the bar. "He can drink now! Damn, that's a real man!"

A whistle rang out in the bar. Almost everyone there was a spellcaster who had watched Salomon grow up; they vividly remembered the little fellow whom Kasirius had brought with him as a child. Of course, it was also possible that the Sorcerer Supreme held Salomon in high regard.

"Give this little fellow a glass of vodka, ice cold!" Count Cooz shouted. "A man can't just drink beer, he needs something tough!"

"You idiot, do you think vodka can get the spellcasters of Kamar-Taj drunk?!" an African vodka priest mocked Count Kooz mercilessly.

Only after Salomon finished the iced vodka in the bullet glass, frowning, did Cassirios let him go.

“Karmar-Taj isn’t a suitable environment for young people. You can’t have the energy that young people should have there.” He began to speak to Salomon in an elder’s tone. “I watched you grow up. I know how quiet you were before you first left Kamar-Taj. Everyone wanted to make you happy, even Mordo let you cause trouble and play video games. I once told His Holiness that you should have your own life and there was no need to come back to Kamar-Taj every day.”

"This is my responsibility, Cassirios."

"Damn it, you bear no responsibility!" Kasirius seemed a little angry. "You'll be the Sorcerer Supreme someday, but not now. Right now, all you should do is enjoy life and drive around in your luxury cars. I heard from Mordo that you interfered with the fate of a female archaeologist, and that girl's fate was related to Quetzalcoatl. But your methods were clever, and still within the Sorcerer Supreme's tolerance."

"Phew! Tell me the truth, why are there always such amazing girls around you? How many girlfriends do you have right now?"

"It's a coincidence, Cassirios," Salomon chuckled helplessly, continuing to hold up his beer bottle. "Maybe it's because I'm good-looking?"

"Shh-"

"Alright, Kasirius, I'd like to invite you and Mordo to a family dinner," Salomon said. "I've also invited the Hong Kong Temple Guardians, Master Hamil and the King. I've already made the reservations; remember to wear worldly clothes."
