Chapter 462 The Descent of the Gods

Chapter 462 The Descent of the Gods (First Update)

After his sister explained things to him, Pietro Maximov accepted Salomon's identity. However, like his sister, he was still curious about Salomon and somewhat distrustful of this "teacher" who had suddenly appeared out of nowhere. They were born in this war-torn country and had lost their parents at a young age. If they had naively trusted others, they would have died in the streets as children.

But Sithon probably won't let that happen. Wanda Maximov won't die so easily; after all, a suitable tool is so rare that she had to forge it herself. But it's a different story for her brother Pietro; apart from his sister, no one cares about his life or death.

Salomon led little Lorna around the base, with the Maximov siblings following behind them.

Perhaps excited about her upcoming enhancements, little Lorna couldn't help but jump around, occasionally letting out a silly giggle. The arcane mage didn't scold her; he tapped her on the head and continued in the direction Wanda had indicated. At first, the Maximoff siblings tried to walk quietly, with Pietro pulling his sister along to hide, but soon they discovered that the heavily armed Hydra militants ignored the four people passing by, as if they were ghosts in the base. A short while later, Wanda pulled her brother along, quickly catching up with Salomon.

Even though they were thinly dressed, the magic still kept them warm, preventing them from freezing to death in the cold castle.

Moreover, Salomon is not as terrifying as the withered, aged, bald wizards in fairy tales.

Salomon's main purpose in this trip was to use the Mind Stone to awaken and stabilize Lorna's abilities, as the Celestials' genetic engineering project was still underway within her. Since the Mind Stone could awaken this genetically engineered creation by enhancing the mental strength of the Maximov siblings, awakening Lorna's powers would naturally be no problem.

This also indirectly shows that the Celestials' genetic engineering methods are inseparable from the so-called "cosmic secret energy." The different applications of astral energy also led to different results in the Celestials' two experiments. The X-gene and the Eternals are the best interpretations of the Celestials' "cosmic Darwinism."

Even Earth's genes are linked to a corrupted Celestial, which is one reason why superhumans continue to emerge. The Brotherhood of the Shield's origins are also connected to the creature that corrupted that Celestial, and the Brotherhood's valuable legacy has become Salomon's current technological resource.

Everything in the world is connected, and Salomon is gradually getting closer to the truth.

Those ancient giants who roamed among the stars could decide the life or death of a planet; Agamotto and Odin both faced that terrifying enemy. Four billion years ago, the first god set foot on Earth, this tiny, newly formed clay ball. It didn't follow any divine destiny or grand plan, nor did it care about this planet.

It's just that it's going to die.

"A dying Celestial, the Dark Celestials. A Celestial clinging to life amidst the cosmic plague, a Celestial infected by space locusts. Even a Celestial as powerful as the Dark Celestials could not escape the disease. It descended into the silt of Earth, its radioactive black tears flowing across the land, wider than any river in the world. That silent giant finally died in agony," the Father of the Gods said slowly. "The incurable disease that infected the Celestials flowed into the magma and the oceans, remaining on Earth along with the blood of the Celestials. That corruption swept across the planet, permanently altering its evolutionary trajectory. Its death gave birth to life, and also gave birth to this planet's special status and power."

"But they will not forget, child. Until a million years ago, the second god descended. I still remember its name, Zagreb the Ambitious. It found its companions dead among millions of filthy nest insects, a sight that could drive even purely inorganic life insane."

Odin, the Allfather, who looked no different from any other old man, appraised each of the participants in the battle millions of years ago: "First, me, the young and handsome ruler of Asgard. I was quite the dashing young man with a beautiful brown beard back then. Agamotto, a pedantic wizard spouting nonsense. Ironfist, the most insignificant nobody in that damned dragon's lair. Phoenix, she has red hair... oh, she's truly the hottest woman in the world! She really is hot! Cough cough!"

"I admit we were all incredibly young back then, but we still protected the Earth, and we killed the mad ambitionist Zagreb." The aging Father of the Gods drifted off into a daze as he recalled the past. When he came to his senses, the orange-red afterglow of the setting sun on the snow-capped peaks had faded, leaving only shadows covering the earth.

"The blood of Ymir, we paid a price, a price I would never again pay in my long life. We buried it underground, along with the first god and its parasites," Odin said, leaning on his staff. "Agomotho cast a spell, sealing that region permanently. But you know, magic can't last forever; I'm already surprised that the seal lasted a million years. Cough cough!"

The Father of the Gods coughed violently, his body seemingly crackling with lightning, the rage from millions of years ago returning to him. "They won't forget this hatred! The disappearance of two Celestials was enough to draw their attention! I believe you know what happened next; that was my last battle against the Celestials." The Father of the Gods took a deep breath, creating an almost vacuum around him, his single eye flashing with lightning that seemed to pierce the air. "There are even more terrifying things in this universe! Kill those bastards! Salomon, this isn't over! Kill those bastards! Kill that plague!"

Queen Frigga skillfully poured a potion into Odin's mouth. As Odin aged, and with the irreversible damage caused by the enchanting magic Loki had cast upon him, the Allfather's memories were gradually becoming disordered. Queen Frigga was used to this and could even brew potions to counteract this trend.

"You mentioned the gods who died four billion years ago, and then what?" Little Lorna asked. "Where are those dead gods now?"

"Don't think I don't know what you're thinking. You want to run over and dig that big thing out." Salomon, selectively telling stories, pressed down on little Lorna's head. The tallest of the four glanced at the Maximov siblings behind him, who were intently listening to the story. "You're not allowed to dig. It's dangerous there. The terrible creature that infected the gods hasn't disappeared. And I absolutely won't take you on any adventures until you've honed your abilities." He said, "But I can give you a suit of power armor, I promise. A custom-made power suit, or a tight-fitting leather suit."

"Deal." Little Lorna nodded in satisfaction.

"But you need to meet the height requirement first; you're too short right now."

Baron Strucker belonged to a faction within Hydra that was close to Alexander Pierce. This faction had already established itself within Hydra during World War II, and at its height, Red Skull even declared himself the leader of Hydra, leaving little room for conservative Hydra factions like the Malik family to survive.

After the Nazi defeat, the US government initiated Operation Paperclip, bringing the Malik family back to the forefront of Hydra's leadership. However, many Hydra agents still aligned themselves with the organization operating under S.H.I.E.L.D., and the Malik family, having gained political power and wealth, resolved to distance themselves from the Nazi factions within Hydra.

Therefore, there is no conservative faction involved in the study of the Chitauri.

Baron Strucker seems to regard the Mind Stone Scepter and the Chitauri biotechnology as the same technology, and while analyzing Chitauri technology, he also studied the Mind Stone Scepter.

"Look, that's the gem that awakens power." Salomon twisted the unconscious researcher, pointing to the scepter placed beneath the Leviathan. The Leviathan had a huge circular wound on its forehead; Salomon recognized it immediately as the one he had killed. It seemed the researcher was trying to use the Mind Stone to reactivate the Leviathan's neural signals, researching methods to control the behemoth and analyzing the Chitauri's technology that combined mechanical and biological elements.

It must be said that this method is very crude.

"What are we waiting for? Let's get started!"
