Chapter 466 Traditional Arts
Chapter 466 Traditional Arts and Crafts (First Update)
Prior to this, Salomon had already analyzed Wanda Maximoff's magic.
Her source of magic is the Great Shadow, the god of darkness, Sithon; therefore, her spellcasting profession, like Salomon's, is that of a sorcerer, and both can cast some spells. The difference lies in the fact that the *Book of Vishanti* contains no offensive spells. All the protective (Oshtu), dream (Hogos), and prophecy (Agomot) spells Salomon learned are beyond Wanda Maximoff's ability to cast, even if she understands the spell formulas.
Because her magic was incompatible with these spells, like putting diesel fuel into a gasoline engine. This is different from that classic children's book; it has nothing to do with the spellcaster's mental state or allegiance. It's simply because chaotic magic cannot be used to cast white magic.
A large portion of the offensive spells were ones Wanda could learn, but Salomon didn't want to teach her. The reason he didn't want to was because Salomon was trying to lessen the debt Wanda had incurred—inadvertently/instinctively—from the Great Shadow while experimenting with her abilities. Although those costs ultimately amounted to roasted rabbit meat, the effect was actually quite good.
He had considered eliminating Wanda Maximoff beforehand, but both the Venerable and Merlin believed the girl still had great value. Merlin suggested that Kamar-Taj keep an eye on the living Wanda Maximoff—one of her roles as a tool created by Cthorn was to accommodate Cthorn's descent into the Material Plane, and her status as a living conductor of chaotic magic made her an easy target for Cthorn's possession.
By simply monitoring Wanda Maximoff while she is alive, Kamar-Taj can keep track of Sithon's movements. The Vishanti have never been able to monitor the movements of the Great Shadow so accurately. After all, the Great Shadow, who was sealed away by Mother Gaia along with his dark fortress N'Garai, is very unruly. Since leaving the material plane, he has been constantly trying to influence Earth, and no one knows what conspiracy he is plotting in his dark fortress.
The most recent instance was during the Camelot era, when Sithon influenced the cult of Hades worshipped by Morgan le Fay. Even before the Sorcerer Supreme embarked on the arcane path, he was battling these entities. The same applies now, only the fighting style has changed from swords to magic.
Merlin and a group of Camelot wizards were summoned by Gaia, the Earth Mother, to participate in reinforcing the seal on the Dark Fortress of Engalai, which had lasted for over a thousand years. As the leader of that group of wizards, Merlin's advice undoubtedly carried considerable weight. Moreover, Kamar-Taj and the Vishanti, as products of inbreeding among various ancient demons, shared various kinship ties with Gaia, and Merlin's words, to some extent, represented Gaia's will.
Nepotism is quite common in the magical world as well.
Sometimes even Salomon himself would quip that nepotism was the most powerful magic in the world, bar none. He even joked with the Venerable One that the name of the seal sounded impressive, but in classic stories it would definitely fail for all sorts of foolish reasons.
To alert Salomon, the Venerable One revealed some secrets to him.
That is, like the silver key hanging around Salomon's neck, Sithon is intricately connected to another universe. Salomon immediately agreed with this statement after seeing the portrait of Sithon bearing the name of Vishanti; anyone could see that the creature with a bunch of dark leathery tentacles on its body was definitely not normal.
Although Salomon claimed he wouldn't teach Wanda much, he had actually made all the necessary educational plans. After meticulous research, Salomon once again employed the traditional skills of the Sorcerer Supreme lineage, finding a way for Wanda to reduce her debts and avoid paying them back.
In short, Salomon wanted to use Wanda Maximov's qualities to make her a mind control user, not a sorcerer. Without needing to invoke the Grand Master or perform certain actions, she could simply use the chaotic magic within her to create spell-like magical abilities.
Although both involve casting spells, they are quite different. Supernatural magic does not drain the caster's spiritual power, so it can be used freely as long as one can withstand the negative feedback it brings. In simpler terms, it involves forcibly acquiring power by exploiting the soul connection between Wanda and Sithon, making Sithon suffer the consequences of his own actions.
Anyway, it was given voluntarily by Sithon, and had nothing to do with Wanda herself. Why should money given voluntarily be returned? Of course, the power gained this way, like using free Wi-Fi, won't be very strong, but the advantage is that it's free.
It's okay if the speed is a bit slow or the signal is a bit weak. Does anyone complain about the slow speed when using free Wi-Fi?
As long as Wanda casts the spell according to Salomon's instructions, instead of following her instincts, there probably won't be any major problems.
Mentors are hard to find, but fortunately, no magical organization in the universe is as professional as Kamar-Taj. No one is better at manipulating energy than the arcane sorcerers. Therefore, while teaching Wanda how to wield power, Salomon also required her to do some physical training to withstand the non-fatal damage from overloading those powers.
Meanwhile, Salomon also expanded Wanda's enchanting and illusion abilities, taking advantage of the powerful influence of chaotic magic on the mind. As mentioned before, Wanda Maximoff is a self-taught, standard hypnotist, another important spellcasting profession using supernatural magic. Education in necromancy, an important branch of supernatural magic, has also been scheduled.
Hybrid spellcasters rarely achieve remarkable success, largely because there is simply too much to learn. Scarlet Witch is a natural hybrid spellcaster, and Salomon, in order to fully develop her abilities and empower her to fight against Sithon, still has much to educate her.
"Twenty more push-ups, girl." Salomon whistled, but no one except him and Wanda could hear the shrill sound. Wanda blinked; she hadn't noticed when Salomon had changed into a black and white tracksuit. This seemed to be some kind of magic; she had never seen such a spell that allowed one to change clothes at will. It seemed Salomon had no intention of teaching her this.
Wanda doesn't need to learn this; her own superpowers are enough for her.
The superpowers are something Salomon can't teach because he doesn't know them himself. Perhaps Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, or even Nick Fury see him as a very powerful superhuman, but in reality, he has no superpowers at all. Those people who can't grasp the difference between magic and superpowers are slandering the power he acquired through his own intelligence.
"Hurry, hurry, time's almost up!" The sorcerer's expression seemed to say he really was there to exercise, "To stay in shape so I can learn magic!"
Wanda Maximoff and Daisy shared a common problem: sports were clearly not their forte. Especially without proper attire, sports were an unbearable burden for her, and the Wanda of the past couldn't afford the fashionable clothes that girls in developed countries usually wore.
All movement was confined to this small cell, and the opportunity to roam freely throughout the entire castle, as they had at their first meeting, was never again available.
Exhausted and panting, she lay sprawled on the cold floor.
Wanda felt incredibly sore in her arms and shoulders; everything in "Convict Conditioning" was utter nonsense! If she had the chance to go out with Pietro, she would gladly skip a magic class, since nobody knew magic classes required physical training.
"If you want to go out, then practice what I've taught you. Mind control is your natural ability, and I've already taught you how to use it. Pick up your quill, not the hammer. Figure out how to get a psychic board and a science book from those people; this is your first test."
