Chapter 469 Golden Armor

Chapter 469 Golden Armor (Second Update)

This was a standard suit of magical armor, designed to fit the wearer's body. But Salomon wasn't satisfied with that. He had the dwarven craftsmen leave fittings inside the armor for further processing. Without compromising the armor's performance, Salomon would add electronic muscle bundles, vibranium skeletons, and servo systems to the inner lining, transforming the armor into high-tech power armor.

Salomon's aesthetic views are in serious conflict with Shuri's.

Shuri admires the simplicity and portability brought by high technology. This is also Wakanda's aesthetic philosophy, which can be seen in the decoration of Wakanda's palace. Whether it's the white floors or the simple palace walls, it all shows that Wakandas prefer a minimalist, high-tech style that eliminates all unnecessary decorations.

She never understood the meaning behind the carvings on the armor, or why fragile gemstones were inlaid on it. Just as she didn't understand why Salomon would modify and produce those massive Soviet-designed cannons from World War II, the two had very different understandings of technology.

In her opinion, the best place for this magnificent armor, so full of the flavor of a bygone era, is a museum. Plate armor is outdated; only high-tech woven armor can represent technological progress. The more high-tech something is, the simpler its appearance should be—that's Su Rui's idea.

Salomon didn't care whether the technological creation was simple in appearance or full of sharp, high-tech aesthetics. As long as the technology worked, appearance wasn't a big issue, just like his attitude towards the Soviet-designed giant cannons. Since those cannons could become powerful battlefield machines after the key problems were solved, then regardless of how good-looking the cannon was, they would just be produced.

Even if Wakanda's cape can release high-tech shields, on the battlefield, hundreds of macro cannons still have the final say.

"If you're after efficiency, then why are there such huge eagles on your shoulder armor! And on both sides! Plus gems! And tell me, what's the purpose of those human figures? Are they just for show?!" Su Rui was about to lose it. "Do you think this is the Middle Ages? Do you know this armor is anything but convenient? I think you'd even need a mechanical arm to put it on! Look at Tony Stark's one-piece armor, and then look at yours—that's real high-tech!"

"This armor was designed by the Brotherhood of the Shield. I only extracted a portion, modified and combined it. The Brotherhood of the Shield's emblem is the eagle. Moreover, the designer of this armor is one of the greatest artists in history; in a sense, this armor embodies the wisdom of all humankind," Salomon said. "Its value far surpasses Stark's junk armor. Its value lies in its materials and magic, its symbolic meaning and practical function. Wisdom needs to be manifested through art, and I will not bury the achievements of the wise. I don't care about the convenience of wearing it, because I won't be alone. No one can successfully ambush me before I put on the armor, especially since I already have the Accidental Instinct spell fixed on me. Install the latest technological advancements on it; do the same for those hundred suits of armor."

"Who exactly are you going to wear those armors?" Su Rui asked with a suspicious look. "You know, nobody grows that tall."

“I know. Do as I say,” Salomon said. “People will wear those armors. Remember to use Wakanda’s shield technology as well; all the armor should have electromagnetic shields. I know Wakanda has a high level of integration in this technology, but portability isn’t an issue for these armors; just maximize the power. Also, speed up the miniaturization experiment of the Asgardian disintegration field that Stark analyzed…”

"You should know we don't have enough researchers, right?" Su Rui interrupted him. "Wakanda's population is so small. Even if all citizens were researchers, we couldn't complete the work you assigned. After all, they need to get off work regular hours in Wakanda. It's not the outside world; there's no such thing as overtime in Wakanda."

"You are the smartest person in this base, Surrey," Salomon said, softening his tone. Surrey proudly raised his head, accepting the arcane mage's praise.

"I know this base's research can't be done without you," the arcane mage said. "But what we lack most is time, because the enemy won't wait. We need vehicles, we need power armor, we need artillery, we need soldiers. On the other side of this city, a group of people are enduring the constant danger of going mad, pushing the boundaries of international tolerance for humanity, combining magic with the technology of the Immortal City to conduct biological experiments. Their goal is to produce the most powerful soldiers, warriors who can fight alongside me."

"They know what they're up against, Shuri. Wakanda has protected you well, but you can't be naive anymore. You must understand what we're about to face, and why your father is cooperating with me. It's not just because of the Black Panther God's will, but because we bear the weight of humanity's survival."

"When the great enemy descends, we will stand up and face those enemies that humanity cannot withstand. Our enemies are not only aliens from outer space, but also terrifying, maddening demons and all kinds of monsters. We humans are born to be enemies of both Heaven and Hell," Salomon said, staring into Surrey's eyes. "My teacher helped humanity escape from both, but this situation cannot last forever. The forces of darkness are rising, and we must be prepared."

"I..." Su Rui hesitated for a moment, "I can work overtime, but you must share more knowledge with me. I know there is a lot of knowledge in the Immortal City that you haven't shared with me yet. The technology of that controlled nuclear fusion power plant is very different from that of Wakanda. You must share that part of the technology with me."

"Deal." Salomon patted Surrey's hand. "Let's work hard for the future of humanity!"

------------

"My Lord, do you think it's right to make such a young girl work overtime? I remember you were going to take me out for dinner later, and I've already made a reservation at the restaurant. Just the two of us, because I've booked the whole place." Stephanie, who had overheard the whole thing, asked with a smile, "Besides, those researchers aren't voluntarily risking their lives to participate in the research; they don't even know what their research is about. You only gave them the objective, but you didn't inform them of the risks."

"But they were indeed risking their lives, and that's what I admire most about them."

"You didn't ask for their consent when you executed them," Stephanie said, curling her lip. "And their death notices have already been issued. Legally speaking, they're dead."

Stephanie was certainly not saddened by the deaths of those researchers.

In her view, the deaths of those researchers were worthwhile as long as it was to achieve Salomon's goals and increase the Malik family's influence in Salomon's eyes. Unlike her, Salomon genuinely felt grief and guilt over the researchers' sacrifices, but he persisted in doing so because he knew what those researchers had gained with their lives.

"I remember the names of all the test subjects provided by the Malik family, and I agree that the researchers should name their findings after themselves. Whether they like it or not, I will remember their sacrifice." Salomon took a document, quickly glanced at it, and signed it. "Their names will fight alongside those immortal warriors, and every warrior will remember their names and be fully aware of their contributions. The warriors will chant their names until the end of time; they will fight alongside us, and this is their due honor."

Stephanie began to feel jealous of the test subjects.
