Chapter 494 I am the Nine-Headed Hydra
Chapter 494 I am the Hydra (Part 6)
In that battle, Agent Natasha Romanoff was probably the most seriously injured. She suffered massive bleeding from a gunshot wound to her left shoulder, her right hand was nearly dislocated, her ribs were fractured, and even her internal organs were damaged. While waiting for the potion to take effect, the doctor prescribed her painkillers. But the woman showed no sign of pain throughout; on the contrary, she was perfectly lucid and did not need the aid of alcohol.
She smiled as she watched Salomon and Nick Fury argue.
Salomon mocked the Nobel Peace Prize laureates, saying they were all, without exception, people who conformed to Western values, rebels and separatists from America's rivals, or naturalized citizens of Third World countries who advocated Western democratic and liberal values. In short, they were weak public intellectuals. He also ridiculed the veteran politicians who made up the Norwegian Nobel Committee as thoroughly Nazis, suggesting that almost all post-Cold War Peace Prize laureates could be executed as Nazis.
After the defeat of 55,000 Norwegian soldiers resisting 100,000 German troops during World War II, the Norwegian royal family fled to London with the country's gold reserves. Even the Crown Prince's request to remain in Norway to lead the resistance was rejected by the government. Most young Norwegians fell into fanaticism towards Hitler and followed the Germans to the Eastern Front. Only a small number of resistance fighters continued their resistance against the Nazis within Norway, and the political families, without exception, sided with Hitler.
As the war drew to a close, more and more people joined the resistance. These people, known as "Later Saints," were quintessential opportunists. Post-war Norway began to rewrite history, portraying itself as a nation that resisted Nazi Germany, vigorously promoting its resistance forces, and completely omitting the fact that 100,000 Norwegian youths had joined Nazi Germany.
Even today, neo-Nazi sentiment is quite prevalent in Norway, with WWII veterans who fought on the Eastern Front becoming idols for these young neo-Nazis. It's difficult to say what help Britain provided during that period; after all, the Norwegian royal family's actions in London were limited to inviting aristocrats and politicians to salons and raising a finger in a gesture of reverence promising a return to the homeland—all at the expense of Norway's national gold reserves. Now, without exception, all of Norway's established political families have had connections with the Nazis, making it a joke for them to award the Nobel Peace Prize.
Nick Fury was so angry he was practically bursting, causing the conversation to veer off course. Sam, a true-blue American, had never heard of such a thing, and his knowledge was insufficient to debate Salomon. Steve Rogers wasn't interested in this nonsense, and Agent Romanoff knew Salomon was telling the truth but wouldn't chime in. If Agent Hill hadn't slammed hot coffee down in front of everyone, signaling them to shut up, the conversation would have continued on.
The former director of S.H.I.E.L.D. showed them three chips, which were his trump card.
When the three SkyCarriers reach an altitude of 3,000 feet, they will use InSight satellites for triangulation. The superguns mounted on the carriers will then become terrifying weapons of mass destruction, killing anyone Hydra wants to kill. The three chips provided by Nick Fury are the triangulation modules. He needs someone to replace all the triangulation modules on the three SkyCarriers; only in this way can Alexander Pierce's ambitions be completely thwarted.
His idea was the same as Salomon's: to seize the three Sky Carriers for his own use. Nick Fury stared at Salomon, wanting the arcane mage to make a statement. He knew Salomon had portals, so changing the positioning module wouldn't be too difficult. But Salomon pretended not to see it.
He glanced at the blueprints of the Sky Carrier and was now 100% certain that Nick Fury's men were among its designers. Perhaps to aid in server cooling, the Sky Carrier's designers brazenly placed the servers in the ship's flank, concealed only by a semi-circular transparent cover.
That thing can't even defend against an RPG, and you're telling me you didn't cut corners? Someone who's this good at slacking off must be a loyalist to S.H.I.E.L.D.!
Steve Rogers, a staunch opponent of Project Insight, never intended to keep the three SkyCarriers. In a country where even discussions about gun ownership can spark debates about freedom, three aircraft carriers capable of eliminating social instability at any time are naturally a major problem. Given the fragmented federal system of the United States, and with S.H.I.E.L.D. being a Western-dominated intelligence agency with a style heavily influenced by Western capitalism, possessing such weapons is akin to having a grumpy six-year-old boy with a gun.
Faced with this situation, American police officers typically choose to empty the magazines and kill the suspect completely before he can harm others, and Steve's idea was the same.
What's even more interesting is that a large portion of Alexander Pierce's kill list consists of American capitalists, while "unstable elements" like superheroes only make up a small portion. Regardless of how wealth is distributed in Alexander Pierce's planned new world, at least for the sake of a well-functioning society, public facilities will no longer be biased towards wealthy areas.
Because in the future world, there will be no rich people, only centralized power, with all wealth and power concentrated in the hands of the government.
So, Hydra, ostensibly violating democracy and freedom, is actually breaking the shackles of American capitalism. Captain America, who constantly proclaims his commitment to human rights, has become the protector of capitalists and politicians, the protector of racial capitalism. This is fucking hilarious. Even Salomon, whose face was contorted by the bitter coffee brewed by Agent Maria Hill, refused to comment further. This whole affair was brimming with dark humor, much to Salomon's amusement.
As for the fact that he was on the kill list, he didn't care at all.
------------
Salomon stood in a secluded corner of the base, browsing the progress reports sent by Tita and Stephanie.
Gideon Malik's Hydra forces are completely unrelated to S.H.I.E.L.D.; the Malik family's base is in Congress, the White House, and the Supreme Court. Therefore, the Sorority's target is the rebellious Hydra, aiming to seize S.H.I.E.L.D.'s resources and technology for the Immortal City. But this alone isn't enough for Salomon; he has another plan that requires Stephanie's personal involvement.
Human resources are also resources, and he cannot tolerate the waste of resources.
"What are you looking at?" Natasha Romanov stepped out of the shadows.
"It's just a cat video on YouTube," Salomon chuckled. He put the phone back, not letting her see anything. "Are you alright? Even with the potion, your injuries shouldn't heal so quickly," he asked. "Are you really planning to continue the mission?"
"What else can we do?" Natasha Romanov said with a smile. "Saving twenty million lives is more important than anything else, isn't it?"
The air fell silent because Salomon did not answer the perfectly valid question.
“You see S.H.I.E.L.D. as your home, Natasha, and you want to protect it.” Salomon unusually addressed Agent Romanoff by name. “But I’m different. Hydra isn’t capable of ruling the world and causing global civilization to regress, so I don’t care at all. That’s Kamar-Taj’s consistent stance; we don’t see things from the perspective of a single nation.”
"Then why did you come? You know perfectly well that Nick Fury isn't dead."
"I'm just here for the fun, it's human nature." Salomon laughed maliciously. "Have you ever thought about this? Why won't S.H.I.E.L.D. do what you did back in your old company? At least not openly? That's because S.H.I.E.L.D. is a product of cooperation, just like the United Nations, a huge, bloated, but powerless organization. But after the Battle of New York, S.H.I.E.L.D. was unsupervised, and nobody wants an organization like that to survive."
"You mean, S.H.I.E.L.D. is doomed to destruction?" She had a feeling that Salomon's purpose was not so simple.
"That depends on Nick Fury's methods. I believe he's already planned this. SHIELD has other names to use, and as long as it can return to oversight and undergo a purge, the organization can survive," Salomon said. "It's a political issue. Hydra is a good target; just pin the blame on Hydra, and all the problems will be solved."
