Chapter 505 Limited Cooperation

Chapter 505 Limited Cooperation (Second Update)

Compared to the sorority's lavish buildings, the special forces' dormitories appeared extremely simple.

After Alexander Pierce's downfall, Gideon Malik contacted several Hydra special operations team leaders and successfully recruited them to his daughter's ranks. However, the nature of these individuals was rather ambiguous; even though Salomon could issue orders to them through Stephanie, they were essentially Malik's family's private armed force.

Salomon refused to allow these individuals into the Immortal City, instead placing them in an abandoned S.H.I.E.L.D. base. However, he didn't intend to mistreat them. He not only promised Stephanie he would provide them with logistical support and new equipment, but also allocated them a significant number of Quinjet fighters, armored personnel carriers, and a small number of tanks to enable the special forces to complete their missions. Part of this was a reward for Stephanie's hard work—from the moment she received the news, the wealthy heiress's daughter, Stephanie, immediately began her operations, stirring up trouble in Congress and the White House, seizing opportunities to gain benefits for Salomon.

Salomon trusted Stephanie greatly in political matters, and therefore allowed the Malik family to nominally possess a force to protect themselves. After all, they were the most militarily skilled mortal army Salomon could currently command, making them a valuable asset for emergencies. Once he had screened these individuals, those with potential would undergo initial modifications in the Immortal City's biological laboratories, donning force-feedback powered armor to become elites within the mortal army.

With Salomon's permission, Agent Natasha Romanov has spoken with several girls.

The girls all believed that the sorority's leader had saved them from their tragic fate.

Although they didn't know his name, they were indeed grateful to him and willing to fight for him—Natasha looked at the sorcerer with a mocking gaze, believing Salomon was creating an air of mystery. It was effective, as evidenced by the girls' fervent adoration.

However, she had no intention of breaking the rules he had set; after all, this was Salomon's territory. She was very interested in the girls recruited by the sorority and promised to come here every few days. "As long as there's a stable connection and free time," she said with a smile, "I don't even know if I'm still on Earth."

This relieved Salomon. The androids weren't truly human; they didn't have menstrual cycles. Therefore, Natasha Romanoff's main instruction to the girls focused on physiology and special operations tactics—things the androids lacked. Wakanda's superior holographic projection technology allowed the girls to practice repeatedly, making them more flexible and adaptable on the battlefield than the androids.

The reward for hiring this top agent was to accelerate research into restoring bodily organs.

Salomon preferred to use a combination of science and magic for treatment, and Romanov himself agreed to this approach.

Although Nick Fury is officially dead, Steve Rogers and she will continue their pursuit of Hydra. Even if she agrees to come to the Immortal City, it will take time. So far, only Nick Fury and she know that Salomon has become a Hydra leader; the other members of the Avengers are completely unaware of Salomon's current situation, not even Tony Stark, with whom he has cooperated, knows what Salomon has been doing besides attending school.

However, he won't be long before he finds out. Agent Maria Hill is an investigator sent to S.H.I.E.L.D. by the World Security Council, and she only needs to pass a lie detector test to get away smoothly. Having submitted multiple reports criticizing Nick Fury, she is the one with the least blemish in S.H.I.E.L.D. (deliberately creating the illusion of discord between the two), and she was even able to join Stark Industries, secretly leading the remaining S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.

To secure a partnership with Stark, she would inevitably need to reveal some information about the Hydra rebellion. The prototype of the android's force-feedback powered armor was created by Stark, so he would certainly recognize his own creation. This alone demonstrates Salomon's extraordinary involvement in the matter.

Natasha's agreement seemed like a compromise and a trade. On the bright side, perhaps Nick Fury wanted to ensure that Salomon's organization wouldn't repeat the mistakes of S.H.I.E.L.D. He could handle three Helicarriers, but a misguided Salomon was truly beyond his control, and so far he hadn't come up with any effective countermeasures. Especially with Salomon possessing planet-destroying weapons, probably no one in the world would dare to provoke him.

On the downside, Nick Fury wanted to gather information and try to understand the tangible organization Salomon had built. True to form, Salomon didn't even need to think to reach a conclusion.

Nick Fury's attempt to save humanity in an era overrun by gods and monsters is Salomon's only admiration for him.

"You already know how to get here, and you know what this place is," Salomon said nonchalantly, pointing to the teleportation chamber. He wasn't worried at all that Natasha would bring Nick Fury here. He might have been a little concerned if it were a more sophisticated, expensive, constant teleportation array drawn with amber powder. This teleportation chamber was just a receiver, while the mop stall in the café was a transmitter. The receiver could be anywhere, but there was only one transmitter.

Opening a portal carelessly could result in falling into a desert, the sea, or even outer space. How unlucky you are depends on your luck; the chances of something terrible happening when such advanced magic as a portal malfunctions are quite high.

"This is the Brotherhood of the Shield. I originally intended to give this place to Nick Fury, but as you've seen, he wasn't capable of making it function properly," he said. "I won't tolerate wasted resources. S.H.I.E.L.D. has wasted a lot of resources—I know what S.H.I.E.L.D. has done, but S.H.I.E.L.D. is far from preventing the world from being destroyed. It has now been proven that S.H.I.E.L.D.'s weakness and political leanings are of no benefit to the world, so I am clearly more qualified than Nick Fury to run this place."

“I didn’t say that,” Agent Romanov patted the sorcerer’s arm. “I think you did a great job.”

"I don't expect anyone to understand, Natasha," Salomon sighed deeply. "I know my bottom line is low, and I'm prepared to be hated."

“Don’t say that, I understand your actions. It’s not power you want.” She paused for a moment, then asked tentatively, “What if those girls don’t pass the final test and join your army?” Natasha asked. “I saw you set up spinning machines for those severely disabled girls; you did a good job, but I want to know more.”

"They'll go to a lower-level department and receive different training," Salomon said. "They might join the administrative organization as clerks, or they might join another department that specializes in hunting dark magic creatures. It's up to them. The former requires good grades, and the latter requires good grades in tactics courses, but both departments require special training. Girls who don't join the sorority definitely have a failing grade in one subject, and they can freely choose whether to join the administrative or hunting department based on their passing grades."

"I've noticed something, Salomon," Natasha said. "Your department is entirely composed of women."

"That's because I haven't found a stable source of male soldiers yet," Salomon said with a helpless expression. "Scientific human modification isn't suitable for women. Although it can guarantee safety, there are almost no boys willing to join. The sorority has found a few, but none of them wanted to stay here, and the boys who were willing to join were physically unsuitable. However, the prophecy has told me that the people I need are waiting for me in the future, so I'm very patient—of course, I can't believe everything in prophecies, after all, the word 'prophecy' comes from the god of foresight, Prometheus, whose forehead has 'for reference only' written on it."
