Chapter 527 The Horrifying Truth
Chapter 527 The Horrifying Truth (Second Update)
"I might be raising a pig!" Salomon thought to himself.
The little black kitten completed the entire process of drinking milk, going to the litter box, drinking milk again, and going to the litter box again within an hour, all without his help. This little black kitten, blessed by Bastet's divine power, displayed strength and liveliness far exceeding its peers. If Salomon hadn't placed the documents high enough for it to reach, it might have torn all the parchment to shreds with its newly grown, tender teeth—the little black kitten had grown a bit. This was to be expected; after all, Bastet had withdrawn some of her divine power, and the kitten should have grown up a bit by now.
However, Diana was busy preparing food for the witches at home, and no one was available to clean the litter box in the office. Salomon was too embarrassed to ask the sorority or Stephanie for help, so he could only summon an invisible servant to solve the problem. Unexpectedly, the little black cat could see the invisible servants and scratched each one with its not-so-sharp little claws. He summoned it again and then watched carefully how the little black cat eliminated the invisible servants.
The test results impressed Salomon with Bastet's supernatural powers, and he quickly arranged for the little black cat's nails to be trimmed.
During this process, the little black cat actually managed to scratch through Salomon's magical defenses, leaving several bloody marks on his arm.
He had originally planned to take the little black cat to the Cheshire Cat, but now it seemed this little black cat was far superior. The Cheshire Cat was just a 30-pound fat cat that did nothing but eat and sleep; it struggled to even catch a mouse, let alone this cat. But Salomon still wouldn't feel comfortable sleeping next to the little black cat; only the Cheshire Cat could he trust. Although the Cheshire Cat was lazy, greedy, liked to knock cups over, and its poop smelled terrible, it was the most loyal cat.
The Cheshire Cat was puzzled when it saw the gilded medal, until Salomon dressed it in a black cat-patterned trench coat, pinned the medal to its chest, and put a peaked hat on its head. Only then did it realize it signified its owner's love. Although it didn't know the reason, it knew it would have tuna again that night. It planned to eat a piece from the belly.
The Cheshire Cat excitedly stuck out its tongue, only to have Salomon poke it back in with his finger.
"You're a cat, not a dog. Don't stick your tongue out; you're embarrassing our family!"
Bayonetta glanced at it, then continued flipping through her magazine.
She was aware of her boyfriend's mental illness, so this behavior wasn't considered too outrageous. Last time, Salomon had commissioned an assassin's outfit and a small hidden blade from Rodin for Cheshire Cat, but Cheshire Cat's weight gain exceeded expectations, and now the outfit was too small; her belly fat would cause the zipper to burst open. It seemed the outfit must have cost a considerable amount. Bayonetta didn't care about household expenses; Salomon claimed he would never lack money from human society again, and he bought all sorts of luxury items for the house. Even her wardrobe had a magically created walk-in closet to store various high-end custom-made clothes and shoes.
Before Salomon acquired artificial intelligence, he and the witches had always lived this way; now it's just become even more extreme. Bayonetta plans to start hoarding gold now; gold will never go out of style, it's the true hard currency of the stars. The last time Salomon and the witches went to Xandar for a meal, they paid the bill with Asgardian currency minted from gold.
Joan of Arc pursed her lips in disgust, but for the sake of the dinner Diana had prepared, she decided not to scold Salomon for the time being.
That's not elegant! She's an elegant witch!
People in the future would never have imagined that the first recipient of the Golden Aquila Medal, a reward for loyalty, would be a cat weighing a full thirty pounds. Laura Crawford, who came to visit, also never expected Salomon to bestow a gilded medal upon her cat. Her purpose in visiting was to persuade Salomon to fund her archaeological work—and Salomon readily agreed. The prophecy he received is closely related to Laura Crawford; although its exact meaning is currently unknown, the fragments of the future shown in the Cosmic Cauldron indicate that Laura will guide Salomon to find what he seeks.
Only that thing can solve the problems encountered in biological laboratories.
Salomon was confident in this, a confidence stemming from his faith in the Cosmic Cauldron. Observing fragments along this timeline was merely a minor function of the Cosmic Cauldron; its primary function, this cauldron emitting profound colored light and starlight, was to explore the mysteries and threats of the universe. By combining this with the fragmented images he obtained while practicing divination magic, he could glean a general understanding.
Laura Crawford is key; she won't die no matter what, until she completes her mission.
This was the task that fate had entrusted to her.
This idea had a fatalistic flavor, but Salomon was somewhat of a believer in fate. While reviewing the materials on Kamar-Taj, he discovered why the Venerable One wasn't surprised at all by what happened to him in Salem. He even discovered something closely related to the Scarlet Witch: the truth about the destruction of Atlantis and the long-lost Atlantean mythology, decisive evidence that the great ancient gods were connected to another universe, and the lost city of R'lyeh in the sea.
When he was a child, the Venerable One had told him the story of the birth of the gods. So what kind of being was this creator who created all the gods? Why does magic in this world have such severe side effects? Salomon ventured deep into the dungeons of the Kamar-Taj Himalayas and witnessed the horrifying truth.
The enormous, magnificent seal that early humans carved into the rock face is still in effect.
The Venerable One tacitly approved of his exploration and warned him never to tell anyone else. Not even the future Stephen Strange. That person could only know about it after he had gained sufficient power.
"Teacher, what's wrong?" Wanda's call pulled Salomon back to reality. He pulled his hand away from the silver key, then tucked it back into his clothes from where Wanda couldn't see. But then he hesitated. He turned around and stood in front of Wanda.
"Get ready," he said. "The day you leave here won't be long."
"Really? Did you foresee this too?" Wanda was clearly excited, and Pietro was also very happy, because leaving here meant he would say goodbye to those exercises. "When can you teach me divination magic?" Wanda asked, "Is my talent too poor?"
“No, you have great talent. You are the most talented spellcaster I have ever seen, though of course, you are still somewhat inferior to me.” Salomon forced a smile. “You will be learning some special magic from me. Forget about prophecy, Wanda, your talent doesn’t lie there,” he said. “Because those spells are particularly dangerous, I will only teach you some less harmful spells. The author of that book is named Abdul Al-Hazlaid, the famous Arab madman.”
"You're going to teach me the magic of a madman?"
"Nobody knows whether he went mad before writing that book, or wrote it and then went mad. But one thing is certain: that magic was incredibly powerful," Salomon said. "Remember, Wanda, I'm watching you. Never break the rules of using dark magic; it's a price you can't afford."
Salomon's revelation told him that the Dark Book contained all the spells of the Necronomicon. This stemmed from the nature of the ancient gods and that chilling origin.
It's better to let Wanda learn the spells from the Necronomicon than to let her come into direct contact with the Dark Book.
