Chapter 600 Father-Daughter Conflict
Chapter 600 Father-Daughter Conflict (First Update)
Salomon particularly loved it when Bayonetta wore skirts, especially long skirts with side slits that wouldn't hinder her fighting, as they accentuated the witch's lithe and long legs. A fitted long skirt, on the other hand, perfectly showcased the witch's amazing waist-to-hip ratio and flawless figure. Even Salomon couldn't figure out exactly how many clothes the witch had in her wardrobe; her dimensional wardrobe was never truly empty, and Bayonetta and Jeanne always managed to surprise him.
Joan of Arc wore a backless black leather bodysuit with red knee-high boots, the front opening running from her neck, adorned with a red studded choker, all the way to her navel; Bayonetta wore a similar outfit, albeit a deep purple one. Bayonetta had even shown it to Salomon, her fair, delicate shoulders exposed. She unzipped the zipper in front of him until her flat stomach was revealed, then let him leave a kiss on her chest. Salomon felt he couldn't resist such an advance, for Bayonetta had firmly grasped his vitals.
Everyone is doing well, except for Steve Rogers.
He was still desperately searching for the whereabouts of his former comrades, repeatedly urging the Avengers to take action. But he wasn't entirely acting out of self-interest. The US government had dumped many problems on the Avengers after Alexander Pierce's death, and Tony Stark's taking in vetted S.H.I.E.L.D. agents provided the White House with a perfect excuse.
As mentioned before, the Avengers serve as a supplement to insufficient government control, much like the mob gangs during Prohibition. The United States, a fundamentalist capitalist country, is a natural breeding ground for Hydra. If the White House were to lead the crackdown on Hydra, it would inevitably offend a large number of people. Even without Hydra, investigating corruption and financial chains is impractical in capitalist countries. The US government will not offend anyone but money. To prevent politicians from opposing its re-election after losing political donations, the current president, presidential advisors, and the State Department all supported delegating the Hydra-hunting operation to the Avengers.
"It's the Avengers, not the president, who made you lose your political donations. Go talk to them!" Gideon Malik chuckled twice, telling Salomon about the State Department's arrangement of the Avengers as a joke, but all he received in return was an awkward look from his daughter.
Salomon simply smiled politely and made no comment.
He knew the joke wasn't funny, and he wasn't good at telling jokes, but his daughter had brought that man home for dinner without asking, and he hadn't prepared any topics of conversation. He didn't mind discussing the president's recent activities, what those conglomerates were planning, or who was involved in any shady deals. He would even support Salomon's assassination attempt on the president, but nobody seemed interested in it.
This was just a meal, yet Stephanie arranged extremely strict security measures for that man, comparable in tightness to the Secret Service.
Before the man arrived, the women, dressed in power armor and carrying chainsaw swords and explosive guns, had already ransacked Malik Manor, taking all the staff and Gideon Malik's security personnel out for questioning. They then waved a strange device in front of the people and repeatedly asked them certain questions.
"Who is ordering you around?"
"What is your purpose?"
If Gideon hadn't stopped the conflict, those crazy women might have chopped off all the security guards' heads. He had already experienced their bloodlust firsthand, and no one in their right mind would want to go through that again. But Tita thought the security measures were still too inadequate; she hadn't fully checked the kitchen staff for signs of enchantment magic.
She certainly didn't want the monarch to eat poisoned food.
She was also somewhat annoyed that Stephanie hadn't informed the Sorority beforehand so she could have been prepared. Meanwhile, the undeterred android stood in the corridor, chainsaw sword in hand, her electronic eyes locked on Malik and his daughter, her helmet displaying reports from the Sorority members monitoring the kitchen.
Gideon Malik was already quite old, and the Sorority's turmoil had left him utterly exhausted. Before the rejuvenation surgery in the Immortal City was performed, he could only take the standard dose of blood pressure medication to prevent a sudden death. What frustrated Gideon Malik even more was that Stephanie seemed to value this man more than the survival of the Malik family, sparing no effort to help him plunder and seize Hydra's wealth.
He couldn't stop staring at the man across the table because his daughter was practically glued to him.
However, he couldn't bring himself to get angry at Salomon. After Stephanie told him about Whitehall's current predicament, Gideon Malik decided not to call Salomon by his name directly, but to refer to him as "that man."
If there was anyone in this world whose name could send chills down Gideon Malik's spine, it was Dr. Whitehall. The psychological trauma inflicted by this cold-blooded German still lingered in his mind. Gideon Malik didn't know how he knew the Malik family's little secrets, he didn't know how deeply Whitehall had infiltrated Hydra, and he certainly didn't understand why this young man, not even twenty years old, could be so ruthless, enslaving his soul after bringing down Whitehall.
No one wants to have such an enemy; death at this person's hands is a form of mercy.
Salomon did not disrespect Gideon Malik.
Although he didn't know what was wrong between the father and daughter, he still came after Stephanie invited him.
In his view, Gideon Malik was a seasoned politician well-versed in all the bureaucratic tricks of capitalism. His rise to his current position was due not only to the political legacy of his predecessors but also to his own considerable intelligence. While such a person might lack a strong conscience, his wisdom was capable of resolving various problems arising in the Immortal City and the subsequent construction of its administrative system—human conflict was nothing new, and political intrigue and intrigue were Gideon Malik's forte. With more and more forces joining later, like Sophia, Gideon Malik possessed the experience Stephanie needed. With such an experienced smuggler's assistance, Stephanie's administrative efficiency could be greatly improved.
What's needed to urge such people to take action is not money and encouragement, but whips and swords.
“My father started introducing me to heirs to conglomerates,” Stephanie said softly. “He wants me to get married.”
"Oh... what are your thoughts?" Salomon finally understood why Stephanie had invited him to Malik Manor.
"I think it's too early," Stephanie said with a smile, completely ignoring her father's gaze. "I can live for many years, can't I? Besides, my job is highly confidential. If my negligence leads to the leakage of the Immortal City's secrets..."
Gideon Malik sighed helplessly.
He couldn't object to Salomon's decision, and he hadn't expected Stephanie to hate marriage so much.
Is this career more important than the survival of the Malik family?
"A child named Malik will be born in the future," Salomon said, glancing at Gideon's expression out of the corner of his eye. The old man's face seemed to suddenly fill with hope again.
"But not now, please understand, Mr. Malik."
"It's alright." A smile bloomed on Gideon Marick's ashen, aged face. He stood up, poured Salomon a glass of wine, and said, "From now on, we're family."
First of all, Shang-Chi is a bunch of idiots.
Don't try to whitewash it; at its core, the story reflects Western arrogance. The lead actor's parents were government-sponsored students who went to Canada and never returned. While others were building the country, they went out to "pursue a better life," only to come back and criticize it. Westerners know what kind of Chinese people are attractive, but they just don't choose them. The female lead is full of rural charm. Although she supports and opposes "discrimination against Asians," she doesn't oppose "discrimination against Chinese people," but rather "discrimination against Chinese people living in Europe and America"—we are already Americans, stop discriminating against us.
This is the true core of "opposing discrimination against Asians".
Just like the Africans with lip plates in "Black Panther," they are essentially stereotypes from Western countries.
Don't let your love for Marvel go to the point of making you lose your mind.
