Chapter 611 Golden Palace Spy

Chapter 611 Golden Palace Spy (Second Update)

Salomon peered through the observation window of the culture chamber.

Countless tiny cables contracted and expanded like living things within the deep green liquid. This high-tech body, a combination of bio-tissue and alchemy, was currently enveloped by numerous black, snake-like cable tentacles, with only a bionic human face visible. Countless pieces of information flowed through this body via the cables, were processed, and appeared on the computers of the Immortal City's Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The sorcerer stood in the dark room for a while, then turned and left, heading towards the other side of the dungeon.

There lies the daughter of the Rhine, a bewitching witch whose voice alone can seduce males. Deep within the dungeon, in her own private room, she endures unimaginable humiliation and torture. The prolonged torment and psychological abuse have not instilled resentment in Lorelei. Perhaps they once did, but under the psychological intervention of the sorcerer, the daughter of the Rhine has developed Stockholm Syndrome. She will be Salomon's most important spy; the long torture, interrogation, and torment are all for a crucial mission, a mission that will have a profound impact on future generations.

To achieve this goal, Salomon didn't hesitate to soil his hands, training the Lorelei in ways no kind person could tolerate. And this goal, for which he was willing to pay any price, was the Rainbow Bridge of Asgard. If his intentions were exposed, even Odin, now semi-retired, would mount Sleipnir, wielding Gungnir, and rush to the Immortal City to kill him.

Even the Venerable One could not stop Odin, who was completely willing to risk his life.

Before Ragnarok, it wasn't the right time to turn against Asgard. To obtain information about the Bifrost before Asgard's destruction, Salomon needed to train a spy capable of infiltrating the Golden Palace. This person was the Enchantress Lorelei, and her long training was all for this one goal.

"The time has come, Lorelei." Salomon unlocked his shackles, picked up the limp, powerless Rhine daughter, and carried her into the bathtub filled with warm water. He single-mindedly used a sponge to wash away the lingering scent of lust that permeated Lorelei's body, but the whip marks, shackle marks, and other signs of torture wouldn't disappear with the foam. Lorelei closed her eyes, savoring the sorcerer's tenderness with utter satisfaction. Her body trembled slightly under Salomon's touch, but her heart yearned for the sweet pain inflicted by the sorcerer.

"At what time?" she asked softly.

"There's only one chance Heimdall can't lock onto." Salomon didn't look up, continuing to wipe the foam off Lorelei's skin with the sponge in his hand. Heimdall had already submitted Thor's mission report, and soon Thor would use the Bifrost to come to Earth.

Salomon knew very few spatial rifts, and most of them were monitored by Heimulda after being used once. He couldn't gamble on whether the secret passages he knew of were already under surveillance, nor did he dare to. He had to seize the opportunity; only when Thor descended would Heimulda's eyes be unable to see Lorelei.

"I'm going to Asgard, my dear," the Enchantress said with her eyes closed. "Isn't there anything you want to do?"

"I promise you, once the mission is over." The sorcerer gently kissed her forehead.

"Should we have a welcome party?" Almost all the Avengers were waiting in this empty lot in Arizona. They had great faith in the intelligence from Salomon—although none of the Avengers knew much about Kamar-Taj, as the only organization that could communicate with Asgard, and the only known member of Kamar-Taj that the Avengers could contact, Salomon's information was naturally taken seriously.

"Where's that kid?" Even though Salomon was over eighteen, Stark still liked to address the sorcerer with an air of seniority when he wasn't around. "For a full six months, this is the only time he's communicated with us. He missed the Christmas celebrations!" Perhaps because he hadn't seen the alien visitor in so long, Stark couldn't stop talking. "Have you received any news from him before?"

Dr. Banner blinked.

He had heard of the uproar Salomon had caused in academic circles six months ago, but the arcane mage wasn't the main character then; the first author of the paper was Dr. Hank Pym, a retired quantum physicist, and the highly controversial Pym particle was his creation. He glanced at Natasha Romanoff—if anyone in the Avengers had the most secrets, it would be Black Widow. Agent Romanoff simply smiled and raised an eyebrow at Hawkeye. Clint, however, just shrugged, the gist of which was, "I haven't seen him since you brought him to see me last time."

"He said he would come," Agent Romanov said, "but he didn't say when."

Steve Rogers sighed; he really disliked the time concept of young people these days.

"This sight is truly breathtaking." Stark took out his phone and pointed the camera at the sky. Blinding light pierced through the clouds, and the thick, dark clouds, under an unseen force, swirled, coiled, and expanded, finally forming a massive vortex. The light behind the clouds gradually intensified, and an energetic, colorful storm cleaved the entire sky, bringing lightning, gales, intense light, and deafening roars as it descended upon this desolate desert. No matter how many times the Rainbow Bridge descended, the scene was always incredibly thrilling. However, the massive dust storm stirred up by the Rainbow Bridge was unbearable for the Avengers members, who quickly retreated into their vehicles, listening to the resounding clatter of gravel and sand against the car body.

It was at this moment that brilliant orange-red sparks burst forth from the thick sandstorm.

When the storm subsided, Salomon stood there, spotless. He was still wearing the crimson robes of the saffron, the seven silver chains fastened tightly at the front, his right hand, adorned with three rings, hidden behind his back, clenched into a fist. He smiled and greeted Thor, who had just arrived, and the Avengers who had been waiting there.

Stark climbed out of the car and patted the sand and grit out of his hair and clothes.

"Hello, my friend." Thor, hammer in hand, strode forward and embraced the arcane mage. The height difference between them was no longer an issue, and Salomon generously gave him a classic Asgardian hug—arms wrapped tightly around the other's body, the tighter the grip, the greater the affection. A weaker person might be strangled; in Asgardian culture, such a person was a coward, unfit for Valhalla.

"You really know how to pick your timing!" Stark got out of the car, frantically brushing the sand off his hair and clothes.

"Hello, Tony Stark! Hello, Rogers! Hello, Banner! Aren't you going to call everyone out to say hello?" Thor, all smiles, embraced each Avenger he recognized amidst the stench of molten glass and ionized air. But Dr. Banner refused the embraces, feeling his life was threatened, fearing the Hulk might take over his body at any moment.

"What are you doing here?"

"The wizard told us you'd be here!" Stark patted his chest, trying to ease the near-breathlessness he'd just experienced. "While I don't know why you've come to Earth, I think we should have a wild party first!"

"Stark, we should hear what Thor has to say first," Steve Rogers interrupted Tony Stark's rambling plan. He looked at Thor, "Is there anything we can do to help?"

"Indeed, my friend," Thor said, brandishing his hammer and laughing. "This will be a battle of honor!"

Taking advantage of everyone's focus on Saul, Natasha Romanov slowly crept up to Salomon. She sniffed discreetly, then glanced behind Salomon. "Smells like roasted meat, and your fingers are burnt," she said. "What have you been doing?"

"It's just a magical accident, Natasha," the sorcerer said with a smile. "It will heal quickly."

Agent Romanov instinctively realized that Salomon wasn't telling the truth.
