Chapter 633 Suspended City

Chapter 633 Suspended City (Second Update)

"Huh?" Just as Ultron uttered a surprisingly human-like question, Vision suddenly appeared. Holding Thor's hammer, he smashed Ultron out of the church with all his might. The meticulously constructed vibranium body crashed through several nearby buildings and disappeared into the thick smoke billowing from the collapsed structure.

"This hammer has really good balance in terms of force distribution," Vision commented as he handed the hammer back.

"Yes, if the hammer is too heavy, it'll be too much effort to swing," Thor replied, swinging the hammer. For some reason, he quite liked this android. Although the fact that two androids had lifted Thor's hammer in one day made him feel a little awkward, Thor still trusted Vision. After all, Vision hadn't used magical cheating to lift the hammer; Thor disliked flashy magic, that was something women learned. Although philosophically speaking, Vision was no different from the elevator that lifted the hammer, Thor still chose to believe him.

On the other side of the city, lifeboats, like floating docks, were moored at the edge of fractured rock. They deployed footboards, and steel spikes loaded with small amounts of explosives pierced the rock with soft explosions, securing the lifeboats firmly to the city. Several agents in conspicuous uniforms, accompanied by search dogs, rushed out. Behind them were several heavy machine guns, ready to respond to any attacks and maintain order. No one here had a stronger will to survive than these civilians. The lifeboats had limited carrying capacity, but drowning people don't care if straw floats. The Avengers understood the necessity of this approach perfectly, so they didn't comment—in fact, few understood this. If the Sisterhood hadn't arrived in time to deter the civilians with their explosive pistols, they would have rushed into the cabins. This had happened before when special forces evacuated women and children; Hydra agents had fired warning shots and even killed several armed fools who tried to force their way onto the ship.

However, in terms of ammunition quantity, the bomb gun is clearly more intimidating.

"No pets! Only money is allowed. Throw away any extra luggage!" Catherine's voice was amplified through the loudspeaker, reaching the ears of every civilian waiting near the broken bridge. "If you don't want to be overweight and cause everyone to fall to their deaths, do as I say."

"Madam, this is a bit..."

"Steve Rogers!" Catherine shouted. "The monarch told me about you. He called you an extremely self-sacrificing warrior, and your shield-throwing skills are unmatched. Zero, don't worry, you'll be more muscular than him someday."

“Madam, listen to me.” Rogers sighed quietly. God only knew what kind of knowledge Salomon had instilled in these homunculus beings. “I ask you to be gentle,” he said. “They have already lost their homes, even their families. Be gentle with them; they have already suffered enough. Don’t put any more pressure on them.”

"That's your responsibility, not the Sorority's. I'm only responsible for carrying out the mission," Catherine retorted immediately. Although Captain Rogers couldn't see through her expression beneath her helmet, he could still detect the disdain in her voice. "The Monarch cleans up your messes without offering any benefit, and you don't feel even a shred of gratitude? You're always so self-righteous, thinking the Monarch has his own agenda, scheming for this or that, even about him taking those three Sky Carriers. But let me tell you, the Monarch is richer than Tony Stark now, yet I've never seen him use his power for his own benefit. You have no idea how much he sacrificed for this huge problem of Sokovia. Do you think Hell is some Central Park you can just walk into, where the only danger is sleeping homeless people?"

"Madam, you must tell me the truth." Captain Rogers ignored Catherine's accusations. With so many pressing matters at hand, a minor reprimand was insignificant. "What exactly is Salomon's plan?" he frowned. "I need to know the consequences of his plan."

"You just need to keep that green beast away from the city center."

"Guys, get over here right now!" Thor was feeling the pressure. "They're heading for the core!"

"Remember! Don't damage the copper rails!" Catherine shouted, raising her voice, "Unless you want everyone to die here!"

"I understand!" Steve Rogers responded as he ran toward the city center, but his voice was drowned out by the crying and commotion of the civilians.

The Maximov siblings also heard the news, but they declined the sorority's invitation.

"This is the trouble I've created." Wanda's self-reproach still lingered. The countless robots surging in from all over the city had left her somewhat exhausted. Robots couldn't accept mind illusions, while her specialty was dark magic, which was full of emotional elements. She needed to meticulously calculate each spell before using Aetheric Strike. She had always hated math and physics, and if that talent had been given to Pietro, he could have done better. However, Salomon's repeated warnings made her avoid violating spellcasting rules at all costs. If it weren't for the emergency, she wouldn't want to cast those extremely obscure spells at all.

"This is my responsibility. Please thank the teacher for their kindness, but we must be accountable for our actions."

"The monarch values your safety highly, Maximov." Tita's tone softened slightly as she addressed the monarch's student. "If you're going, let the Sorority help you; I think the monarch will approve of your sense of responsibility. Did you bring your wand?"

"Of course!" Wanda pulled out the wand that Salomon had made himself. It was a wonderful gift, more than enough to handle her current situation.

"This will be sufficient for your upcoming battles, Wanda Maximov. There is also a Sisterhood combat team stationed near the city center; they won't be directly involved in combat, but they can still ensure your safety."

"That's enough for me, Tita. If Salomon comes back, remember to give him my regards."

"What strategy (drill) should we take?" Natasha Romanov asked as she walked into the church.

"This is our drill bit." Even at this moment, Tony Stark was still trying to play a pun. His damned sense of humor seemed never to fade. Pointing to the key between the movement and the mechanism, he replied, "Once Ultron's hand touches this movement, we're done for."

The collapse of the Central European region along with it, and the ripple effects of the tectonic shift, could kill hundreds of millions of people.

Stark was incredibly excited, and Thor was even more so. Facing a formidable foe alone was Thor's favorite moment; it was his moment of glory.

Facing the Avengers who had gathered in the city center to protect the vibranium drill, Ultron spoke with the leisurely ease of an elderly person taking a stroll in a park after receiving a pension check. He waved his hand, and the robots, previously scattered throughout the city, instantly coalesced into an army. The Sisterhood heavy firepower teams hidden in the surrounding buildings fired with all their might, weaving a web of fire, but they couldn't completely stop Ultron's army from entering the city center.

"That's what I'm capable of." Perhaps driven by an increasingly intense patricidal complex, Ultron subconsciously ignored the fact that Agent Natasha Romanoff had run over and killed several robots with her snowplow. "I want it this way, all of you against all of me. How could you possibly stop me?"

The words had barely left his lips when the previously clear sky plunged into complete darkness. Neither the Avengers nor Ultron immediately noticed anything amiss. It wasn't until they caught a pungent, overwhelming smell of sulfur, as if they were standing on the edge of a volcano, and then heard a cacophony of roars and clanging metal approaching, that both Ultron and the Avengers simultaneously looked up.

Whether they were organic or inorganic, the sight before them was unforgettable.

A black, iron-clad city, flowing with molten iron and lava, stood upside down above them, a magnificent structure seemingly growing from the void. Sokovia was slowly approaching it, but compared to this city, Sokovia appeared incredibly small. Ever-changing mechanical structures formed the city's walls and factories. All the buildings clustered from bottom to top around a massive, spiked throne cast from molten iron, its scorching red light and steam extending like limbs. The roars of countless souls were more chilling than the frigid air above. At the city's center, atop a bayonet-like tower, a figure in a deep red robe stood with outstretched arms, a giant, golden-red bird engulfed in flames circling around him.

The image was captured by a camera on Stark's Iron Man suit.

"My God! That's...!"
