Chapter 730 Little Cake Salomon

Chapter 730 Salomon's Little Cake (Second Update)

Salomon believed in accurate prophecies, but he viewed them as guidance rather than definitive outcomes.

The great prophet Nostradamus was a member of the Brotherhood of the Shield and played a crucial role in the campaign to destroy the Celestial Cubs. Salomon had read the famous prophet's notes and deeply understood the importance of how prophecies were interpreted, even the Oracle of Delphi at the Temple of Apollo. For example, regarding Vanessa's situation, Salomon felt that having the Sisterhood send a bomb into Wilson Fisk's head would solve most of the problem. Alternatively, he could find a thug with an RPG-7, wait outside Wilson Fisk's office, and fire at the right moment—that would also solve the problem. Coincidentally, Salomon's personal lawyer, Matthew Murdoch, wanted to use the power of the arcane to gather evidence that could put Wilson Fisk in jail, so he wouldn't mind including a bullet along with the evidence.

Salomon licked his lips and frowned, but stopped just before giving the order.

Could it be that my actions led to Vanessa's death? The arcane mage couldn't help but consider this possibility. Perhaps Vanessa's death occurred during the killing of Wilson Fisk, or perhaps the evidence he provided led Vanessa to use it against Wilson Fisk. Salomon couldn't be certain of the specifics.

Although there are countless tragic stories throughout history about how avoiding prophecies ultimately led to their fulfillment, this doesn't mean everyone must passively face fate. This has always been his attitude towards prophecies. They were merely hints from the future, possibilities, without any real significance. While he didn't care about the intertwined fates of mortals, in this matter he suddenly felt the malice of destiny, as if Athena had asked him to observe Vanessa's fate specifically for this purpose. He had no choice but to return to Kamar-Taj and meticulously search the Cosmic Cauldron for all possibilities across timelines.

Without exception, Vanessa will die, regardless of whether Salomon takes any action.

"Timings in time are the key to distinguishing different multiverses," the Sorcerer Supreme said. "The differences only become apparent when we reach the relevant junctures. Vanessa's fate is a very important juncture for the multiverse, one that cannot be changed or observed. Like Strange... that analogy isn't quite accurate; Strange is very likely to become a juncture, but it's not a certainty."

"Is this a sermon you and Athena are giving together?" The Venerable's footsteps were so light they were almost imperceptible. Salomon didn't turn around, but continued to gaze at the tiny, starlight-like fragments appearing in the Cosmic Cauldron, countless dense points of light gathering beside his finger, waiting to be dredged ashore. The fate of mortals lay in the shallow waters, which he had easily scooped out with his finger.

"That depends on how you interpret this lesson." The Sorcerer Supreme raised an eyebrow and joined his disciple at the Cosmic Cauldron. This ancient artifact did not originate from Vishanti, but it was undeniably connected to Agamotto. Before Salomon's birth, the Sorcerer Supreme had retrieved the largest fragment ever found from the Cosmic Cauldron, and events were unfolding exactly as depicted on that fragment of time.

"Your future plans will inevitably affect the fates of many. Do you consider your actions a crucial turning point in the multiverse? How many versions of yourself do you believe exist in the multiverse, child?" the Sorcerer Supreme said. "I believe the Earth Mother has revealed your creation process to you. How many times do you think this will happen?"

"Are you talking about the process of turning souls from other universes into mud and then heating it in an oven to set it?" Salomon's absurd analogy made the Venerable One roll his eyes. Although the analogy was absurd, it was quite accurate, allowing ordinary people to understand his birth process in the most intuitive way. "Is there an animal version of me? I've seen other people in animal versions, as ridiculous as a children's cartoon. If that's the case, I hope to become a cheetah, because witches can also become cheetahs."

"Don't try to change the subject, little cake." The Venerable chuckled, patting his disciple on the shoulder, mocking Salomon's self-proclaimed title. Salomon was already taller than the Sorcerer Supreme; the Venerable could only pat his shoulder, not his head. "Only once, the God of Blind Fools made a single deal, which means your actions are key to changing the multiverse. You've steered the river of fate recklessly, inevitably causing many things that would only happen in other multiverses to appear in this one."

Salomon pondered the words over and over.

"So what is the attitude of the Eternal God? He can't possibly be indifferent to such matters."

"He doesn't care. He is the universe itself. Whether the universe falls into heat death or not, the universe is Him. He is also the only being that you cannot exclude from your plan. But your plan is too grand. You must obtain His support. I know your attitude towards the 'First Cause' [Note 1], but this is the reality. Only by obtaining His permission can humanity have a future."

"Then what's the point of my plan? It's just reducing the number of people whose fate is at stake to one!"

"No, He doesn't care about anything."

“Very well, then how do I communicate with the universe itself? Every molecule, every life, even every stone is Him…” Salomon suddenly felt a wave of suffocation. He thought of someone who still lived in the Kamar-Taj New York sanctuary. “The Eye of Calamity!” An extreme disgust rose within him, and he forced out a few words in a torturous tone, “He is already among us?”

"He has been watching your every move, my child. The Eye of Calamity is merely a witch He has favored. That woman's mind couldn't handle such favor, which is why she went mad. As you said, every molecule is Him. Whether He sends the Eye of Calamity or not is irrelevant; He simply needs a mouth to speak." The Sorcerer Supreme's expression was relaxed, as if this were a trivial matter, less important than what to have for lunch tomorrow. Smoked beef—the Supreme had already decided before coming. "Take good care of her. If necessary, His voice will be conveyed through the Eye of Calamity. And I think you and the Eye of Calamity actually get along quite well, don't you?"

"I suspect her mind's been completely wrecked; the arcane mages worry every day that she might pick up something from the ground and eat it," Salomon sighed, his mood returning to normal. He then proceeded to fully express his disbelief in the Lady of Calamity. "She loves to reveal the truth before others are watching suspense dramas!" he said. "I suspect her delirium is just an act; otherwise, how come she always arrives right before the TV program starts every time we rest at the temple!"

"That's not a good habit," the Venerable One said with a smile, "but you can overcome it, can't you?"

[Note 1] First cause: a theological and philosophical term, considered to be the initial cause of the entire causal chain, also known as the ultimate cause.
