Chapter 897 Historical Relics
Chapter 897 Historical Relics (First Update)
"Don't forget to start the tracing work. I know the gene labs are busy, and the Ministry of the Interior is busy too, but this is a necessary procedure for discovering suitable individuals in the future. There must be suitable individuals in the bloodlines of those who are genetically suited. By referring to population movement and bloodline inheritance, we can use this as a clue to find more genetically suited individuals in the history of population movement," Salomon reminded. "It is not an accident that two suitable individuals of Achaemenid Empire blood appeared at the same time. I believe there are more. Try your best to find the bloodlines of settlements that were lost in the war and collect enough test subjects. Thanks to the secrets of Kamar-Taj, otherwise I would not have been able to dig up Cyrus II's remains from Pasargard, even though only his head is left."
"So, it seems I'll have a Cyrus II among my colleagues? I look forward to working with a tolerant person, one who can be called 'righteous.' I hope my new colleague will have the magnanimity and vision of Cyrus II. But please allow me to remind you that there are no archives there; all records are passed down orally," Constantine said with a smile.
He never asked what was special about these genetically qualified individuals, nor did he ever consider why the monarch would choose him for modification. He didn't even ask why his ascension process in the records had been so smooth. Constantine was familiar with every step of the modification process; Salomon had never hidden anything from him, but he still knew that some things were not suitable for investigation.
"I maintain that at least one of these ten candidates will successfully survive the ascension process." Constantine waved a small fork, about the size of a long matchstick, in his hand. "It's a kind of intuition, I suppose; candidates with similar personalities are more likely to succeed."
"I don't remember giving you the gift of prophecy when I created you, child. I certainly didn't throw hallucinogens into the mechanical womb that day." Salomon's humor made Constantine laugh uncontrollably. The sorcerer pointed to the door. "Remember to take care of those tedious administrative tasks for me. I'm planning to take a short break. If Stephanie asks, just say I'm busy with the Kamar-Taj project. Oh, and don't forget to bring lunch; Dinah made yours."
"I will remember, my lord. I will tell your personal assistant that the veal steak was delicious." Constantine smiled and stood up, giving a perfunctory bow while holding his halberd. He had no prejudice against the homunculus or the Sisterhood; he simply believed the Sisterhood was incapable of fully handling the monarch's security. Poisoning, long-range sniping, laying mines along routes, bribing airline personnel to plant bombs on private planes—real assassinations have countless methods that don't require face-to-face contact with the target. In Constantine's view, the Sisterhood could only handle direct confrontations with ordinary human armies, not covert methods. This was also the reason for his several arguments with Tita and Dinah.
"I promise no one will know you're slacking off. Please give my regards to the mistress."
"Get lost, you're being annoying."
After Constantine left, Salomon slowly exhaled.
The existence of genetically selected individuals is also a trace he left in history, like Constantine. Only those with the right genes can receive the power and influence of the Stigmata and resonate with his soul, and Constantine is currently the one with the highest compatibility among all those selected. He has never told anyone about this; only Maya Hansen found some subtle clues in the massive genetic sequence comparisons, but Salomon doesn't know what happened in the past. Perhaps it was an experiment or something else, but in any case, the Royal Guard far surpasses the Asgardians in physical strength, lifespan, and intelligence—the result of the genetic alchemy that transformed the Royal Guard. In Salomon's heart, he hopes that future humans will be stronger, longer-lived, and more intelligent than the Asgardians, becoming near-immortal gods like the Royal Guard.
Through natural means, rather than through the forced transformation using genetic alchemy and dark technology like the Praetorian Guard.
As for Thanos's theories, Salomon didn't care at all.
Malthusian population theory is purely a calculation, scientifically rational and correct. However, the resources of the Milky Way are more than sufficient for a single species, not to mention the resources of other galaxies to be explored and mined. Even if all of Salomon's plans succeed, it would take humanity many, many years to deplete these resources; the heat death of the universe would likely arrive even earlier. Even if that day comes sooner, humanity's technology by then will probably be advanced enough to reach higher dimensions, so there's no need to worry—his mission will be complete, and he'll leave. If, by then, even a god higher than the Aesir cannot make decisions beneficial to the entire race, acting like a wailing infant, then humanity is doomed, and the mission of Kamar-Taj will have no reason to continue.
As for other alien races, that's none of his business.
Unless an alien race can accept human governance and contribute to the overall advancement of the human race—and not just someone who "makes only 13% of the population but causes 50% of the crime rate," nor someone who occupies a financial position to control politicians and do things harmful to the human race for profit.
The universe is a place where social Darwinism prevails. If a race fails to defeat invaders and find a suitable planet to colonize, it is destined to perish in this dog-eat-dog world. Thanos and his Titans met their end because they failed to dedicate all their resources to exploration, colonization, and acquiring enough resources to support their population. Frankly, humanity in the future is highly likely to face the same fate. Current science and technology are completely inadequate to defend against extraterrestrial invasion. Even the weakest interstellar fleet in the universe, the Chitauri bio-fleet, would be beyond human capability to withstand once it enters the solar system. After all, the interception systems of warships are not mere decorations—even if only half of Earth's population and half of the Chitauri's population were lost, Earth would become a Chitauri colony. The worst-case scenario is that all of humanity becomes slaves and experimental subjects. Even those who betray their race and join the aliens would only become slightly better slaves.
Even if the flames of war were to spread throughout the entire galaxy, Salomon would absolutely not allow such a thing to happen.
As he thought this, he took the mouthwash that Diana handed him.
The Royal Guard will be his sword, and he must create more Royal Guards to resist foreign enemies.
As the first successfully modified member of the Royal Guard (excluding the clones used for experiments before the modification), Salomon planned to create a gift for Constantine: a true divine weapon, a weapon that contained all of his current knowledge and could guide Constantine. At the same time, he also planned to begin developing a tactical manual for the Royal Guard, a book that combined tactics and strategy, intelligence gathering, assassination and subversion, protection and patrol, weapons maintenance—techniques the future Royal Guard would need—with his and Constantine's training and combat experience on other planets.
However, we'll start planning this tomorrow. Today is his day off, and the witch is still waiting for him in his room!
