Chapter 934 Infiltration and Reverse Infiltration

Chapter 934 Infiltration and Counter-Infiltration (Second Update)

Time was limited for this mission. The orbital transport ship wasn't built with materials that could absorb radiation, and its shape wasn't designed to reduce reflectivity, making it highly susceptible to detection by US air defense radar. Therefore, the mission was divided into two parts: one part was to destroy the nearest US airfield to buy time for forces to eliminate the Skrull settlement.

This mission was led by the Sorority Sisters who had previously attacked Langley Field. Before the main force departed, the Sisters had already entered the atmosphere in assault transport ships. They would fly over the US airfield and precisely destroy hangars and runways with missiles and bombs, then intercept US reinforcements. However, they wouldn't stay there indefinitely; the destruction of the Skrull base still needed to be completed, so they would leave behind a small nuclear bomb and a cache of landmines.

Fake nuclear bombs, and a mix of real and fake landmines.

These things are enough to slow down the pace of US infantry and armored forces so that soldiers on the front lines can complete their missions.

Stephanie excitedly donned her power armor and used a portal to arrive ahead of schedule at the Skrull settlement.

This was a vast plain, where temperate rainforest trees grew densely packed together, their towering greenery relentlessly severing sunlight from other plants. Stephanie's power armor boots sank deep into centuries-old humus. A brown-black snake instinctively bit at her ankle. Although Stephanie was a civilian employee, the Immortal City had a slightly different definition—at the very least, they had to be proficient in basic firearms knowledge, have a passing grade in shooting, and be able to use at least one melee weapon. A chainsaw sword, a pneumatic hammer, a longsword, a short sword, a cane—any weapon that could protect them would do. The Malik family had understood the importance of force after encountering Salomon, so Gideon Malik often urged his daughter to train more. However, without her father's prompting, Stephanie was able to understand this principle through Salomon's teachings, which is why she was able to draw her gun at lightning speed, shoot the snake that was being stepped on by her boot, and accurately hit the snake's head.

"I shouldn't have done that," she growled, a low growl escaping her throat, until Salomon wiped the scum splattered on her face with his fingers. Using a .50 rocket-propelled bullet on a snake was indeed incredibly foolish, especially since the bullet was designed to kill heavily armored enemies, with both armor-piercing and high-explosive capabilities. Stephanie's actions were akin to detonating a small grenade underground. However, considering Stephanie's lack of combat experience, her actions were understandable. As for the splatter on the armor and its decorative fur, Salomon didn't have a good solution; even summoning air elementals or invisible servants would take a long time to clean up.

Compared to his fully armed secretary and the head of the Interior Ministry, Salomon dressed like a romantic poet.

He wore a black, double-breasted metallic coat, high riding boots, and an Ascot scarf. His long knife, often used as he was, was fastened to his belt, and the black and silver Baroque-style reliefs on its scabbard made him look more like a socialite attending a literary salon than a hunter standing in the dark forest. But he could assure anyone that he had ample hunting experience, and was an excellent hunter both in the forest and in bustling towns.

He picked up the heavy Stephanie and leaped to the top of a towering tree.

"Intelligence indicates the Skrulls are ready." Salomon looked up through the gaps in the dark leaves. Soon, transport ships loaded with armored vehicles and soldiers would descend from the sky, escorted by a sky carrier, a sky battleship, and dozens of assault transports, ensuring all soldiers could join the battle unharmed. "Let's see what the Skrulls have prepared for us," he said. "I'm curious what else they have to use against us."

"The agents keeping watch said no Skrulls have left. Should we trust them?" Stephanie wobbled as she steadied herself on the thick branch, worried that it might support her weight in her power armor. Salomon seemed to read her mind—Stephanie was used to Salomon spying on her, and she held nothing back—and told her not to jump around so she wouldn't fall.

"No, just consider them replaced." Salomon continued walking without looking back, his high boots with silver buckles lightly stepping over the protruding tree roots. "New agents will come to take over their work, multiple agents, according to regulations. No favoritism, only rules. Resisting imprisonment will result in being shot on the spot."

"Can I participate in this mission?" Stephanie asked eagerly. Her twin claws, mounted on her arm armor, sprang out like springs in the blink of an eye, flickering electricity rising from the mirror-like blades like blue flames, whistling through the air. She liked the weapon; it was dangerous enough and cruel enough. Although it was just a prototype Salomon had made in his spare time, it possessed considerable power. The faint crimson runes on the blades indicated that magical techniques had been used in its forging. According to the scroll on the weapon case, these twin claws could drain the life force of their enemies to heal themselves—undoubtedly dark magic. If she hadn't been Salomon's assistant, she would never have been able to open that weapon case.

"No," Salomon replied coldly. "I cannot risk losing an important ally."

"What can I do?"

"Hunt hunting with me."

Stephanie jumped off the tree branch and, relying on the powerful propulsion and shock absorption provided by her power armor and steel wing thrusters, as well as the predictive capabilities granted by her AI, sped through the forest at the speed of a car on a highway, barely managing to keep up with Salomon's pace.

The jungle stretched and distorted beside her ears.

She had only lost sight of Salomon for five seconds when she discovered a mangled Skrull corpse lying beside the sorcerer—or more accurately, a Skrull corpse in the process of shedding its human form, the stench emanating from its exposed belly making one want to pinch their nose. Stephanie's incomprehensible firearm was cleaved in two, its parts scattered and sparking. Salomon held a handheld detection device in his hand—his expression was grim, for the device was a product of the Immortal City.

Her monarch didn't believe no aliens had escaped, and now it seemed that judgment was correct. The surveillance agents had been replaced; the one-way communication with the monitors, though cumbersome, was a perfectly prudent approach. The Skrulls did know the Immortal City planned an attack, but they didn't know the timing or the number of attackers.

"Skrugs may have already infiltrated the Immortal City before this, but we can't rule out the possibility that it was something they got from the Monitors." He crushed the casing of the handheld detection device with his bare hands and pulled the chip out of the circuit board. By checking the chip's serial number, they could determine whether the device was issued to the Monitors or taken directly from the production line, which would be very helpful in assessing the scale of the Skrug spy network.

"Order the Black-Armored Interrogators and the Imperial Guard to take control of the city, activate all defense facilities, shut down server rooms, and implement Articles 1, 5, and 13 of the Anti-Infiltration Regulations. Everyone must remain in their residences or workplaces to await genetic testing, iris scanning, and mental testing. Violators will be shot on sight. Stephanie, take this and immediately return to Immortal City to begin even stricter checks, focusing on those recruited by S.H.I.E.L.D. and Nick Fury. Simultaneously, order the investigation team to be stationed in the intelligence department..."

Although the situation is somewhat delicate, Salomon doesn't seem to be in a hurry at all.

"Tell Victoria that this is my order. She knows what to do."
