Marvel Magic Case Files
Chapter 982 Low Earth Orbit Flight
Chapter 982 Low Earth Orbit Flight (Second Update)
To be honest, the trouble Robbie Reyes has caused this time is not easy to resolve.
Half the prison was dead, and Wanda Maximoff and the SHIELD team's few doses of potion were far from enough. By the time the police discovered the anomaly at Southridge Prison, the horrific scene inside was enough to terrify the faint of heart. Faced with the surging tide of prisoners, the witch finally intervened, but the fear switch in the prisoners' brains seemed to be turned off; no matter how she demonstrated her magic, they still roared and charged—the news mentioned a "terrorist organization" that hated Inhumans was among them, and these idiots were caught by the police as soon as they entered Los Angeles. After so many cases, the LAPD desperately needed a case to restore its reputation, and these thugs just happened to be in the line of fire.
They still believed Robbie Reyes and Wanda Maximov were Inhumans. Coupled with the hallucinations Lucy Bauer had instilled in them, neither charred human bodies nor mangled remains could sway the will of these normally cowardly thugs to charge. Almost all the "terrorist members" imprisoned were dead. When Agent Coulson and Agent May arrived, they had to tread through blood-soaked floors and empty cells, dragging behind several still-dazed prison guards.
"Holy shit..."
"I'm pretty sure those footprints were left by Wanda Maximoff, Robbie Reyes, and Elias Morrow," Coulson said, pointing to the messy footprints ahead amidst the ashes and blood. "Mike, did you see where they went?"
"Coulson, they threw away their headsets." Mike and Fitz, who were on the Wind One ready to provide support at any time, were also quite troubled. It seemed that ever since the prisoner riot began, the Witch and Ghost Rider had no intention of contacting S.H.I.E.L.D. Mike had seen them enter Block E, where Elias Morrow was located, through the surveillance cameras, followed closely by a large group of thugs. The thugs even smashed the cameras with things, leaving no one unscathed, and the support personnel on the Wind One were getting less and less information. Without the cameras, Mike, as the temporary commander, had to rely on his own reasoning to make judgments and send support agents to the appropriate locations—S.H.I.E.L.D. needed to get some information from Elias Morrow, and if they let Wanda Maximoff and Robbie Reyes take him away, then this mission would be impossible to continue, and it would be more efficient to just chase after the Immortal City.
"Fitz, I need your drones. Send them to these corridors, go through the windows and check for signs of battle. If there are none, proceed in the direction I indicate. If there are, stay there and continue monitoring." Mike pointed to several corridors on a 3D image of Southridge Prison, excluding those that Coulson and Melinda May had passed through. In this way, Mike could determine the path of the Witch and Ghost Rider in a very short time, while simultaneously alerting SHIELD agents to avoid danger.
"Very clever," Fitz nodded; he loved math. Several agents who had been helping Coulson's team since the Hydra rebellion (and were now officially part of the team) immediately carried Fitz's drone case and opened the ramp door. More than a hundred palm-sized drones took off together, buzzing as they swarmed toward the prison like a swarm of bees.
Even though she already knew the outcome, Stephanie Malik still couldn't help but clench her fists every time she read this passage, struggling to suppress her anger and trying to convince herself that the expenditure was worthwhile. Every penny of Immortal City's money now had to be spent wisely. Bribing local officials and police, taking clues from the evidence room, was definitely not appropriate, but it was a necessary expense. Even with Immortal City owning so many Hydra companies and holding shares in so many businesses, Stephanie had to live frugally—even the liquor cabinet in Salomon's office was filled with her own money, and the expenses of the bio-genetic laboratory were enormous, even requiring her to use her own personal savings. She never left any record of private expenditures in Immortal City's public accounts.
With such a superior, Stephanie Malick naturally harbored deep resentment towards any irregular spending; every penny of Immortal City's money had to be used for practical purposes. S.H.I.E.L.D.'s refusal to share these expenses further fueled Stephanie's animosity. She even called Agent Coulson to protest, but Melinda May hung up without hesitation, adding another layer of complexity to the long-standing feud between Hydra and S.H.I.E.L.D.
However, not everyone involved knew what had happened at Nanling Prison.
Daisy Jensen waited on the rooftop for twenty minutes as agreed, and the assault transport ship arrived as scheduled. She climbed onto the ramp and saw the Imperial Guard sitting in a chair, a gray cargo box bearing the S.H.I.E.L.D. insignia crammed into the space beside her. "To be honest," she remarked, "I still prefer the Quinjet. While it's not as spacious as this plane, at least it looks better."
"This assault transport can send you back via low-Earth orbit," Constantine said calmly. "To be precise, it's a void vehicle, perfectly capable of atmospheric transport. If I were you, I'd buckle up immediately, because the G-forces during takeoff will make you throw up."
Daisy Jensen readily agreed and sat down next to Constantine.
"Do you know what Agent Coulson is doing right now?"
"Yes, I know." Constantine nodded, and then the air fell silent, save for the vibrations of the ramp door closing and the engine starting. He was wearing a helmet, which thwarted Daisy Jensen's attempt to glean something from his expression. But even without the helmet, she wasn't a micro-expression expert and couldn't discern anything.
The minute before the assault transport ship takes off is unbearable for ordinary people. Daisy Jensen endured fifty seconds of blackouts and a lack of blood flow to her brain, and it took her half an hour to recover.
"So?" she said. "You know what Agent Coulson is doing?"
“Yes, and I’m taking you to rendezvous with the S.H.I.E.L.D. team,” Constantine said. “Now that Wanda Maximoff has joined the S.H.I.E.L.D. team, it’s time to throw you there.”
"I ran away on my own, and I will never go back!"
"I didn't expect your rebellious phase to last this long."
"Good heavens, can you even understand human language?!"
"Is it because you feel it would be awkward for you to go back? So you needed Agent Coulson or someone else to ask you to go back?" Constantine nodded. "That's alright, I understand this kind of adolescent thinking. I've read books on it."
"No! It's because...please, let me go!" Daisy Jensen was completely at a loss for words. She was utterly oblivious to the fact that she was defying gravity; if she weren't strapped in, she'd be floating. "It's over. I'm getting off the plane. I don't want to talk about puberty with a three-meter-tall Sheldon Lee Cooper!"
"I wouldn't mind opening the ramp door now, but I'm sure you'll freeze to death in low orbit," Constantine said. "Want me to open it for you? Or can your powers help you get back to the surface?"
"You're even more of a bastard than your master, Constantine!"
