Chapter 106 A New Turning Point in Their Relationship

Jiang Yan nodded. "In that case, since the other main track is a fusion of hip-hop and ballad, let's divide it into sections. Let the rap take the lead in the verse, and let the whistling melody support the chorus. The pure vocals will follow the main melody, without letting the rap come in to respond."

He picked up the photos on the coffee table and placed them side by side: "The chorus will have a unified unison melody, focusing on being clean and catchy, without needing to specifically match the vocal parts."

Teddy stared at the four photos for a few seconds, then leaned back heavily.

"Tsk."

He took off his glasses, rubbed the bridge of his nose, and a very complex expression appeared on his face.

"Are you really only twenty years old?"

Jiang Yan replied seriously, "Brother, it's written on the birth certificate, so it shouldn't be a lie."

"Damn it." Teddy laughed and cursed, then picked up his phone to check the time. "Alright, that's enough for today. I'll think about the ideas you gave me."

He stood up, stretched, and loosened his stiff shoulders: "In a few days, come with me to YG headquarters. I've already made arrangements with President Yang. Bring the demos of these two songs and your notebook, and show him what a true genius is."

Jiang Yan bowed and took his leave.

Lin Xiaolu floated out right behind him, and the moment the elevator doors closed, she finally couldn't hold back anymore. She spun around several times in mid-air, her voice trembling with excitement.

"Daibak! Daibak! Daibak! Kang Yeon, the producer of the BLACKPINK collaboration!"

"Hmm." Jiang Yan watched the elevator numbers drop down, and the corners of his mouth curved slightly.

"And do you know what it means that you were involved in BLACKPINK's debut song? It means that when BLACKPINK fans see this song on Wikipedia, your name will be listed as the producer."

Jiang Yan glanced at her, then reached out and lightly flicked her forehead, his fingers only touching a cool patch of air as they passed through.

Lin Xiaolu covered her forehead and muttered softly to his back, "Honey, I've noticed that your emotions have become less volatile since you entered the Bitcoin market."

"Yeah, facing so much money every day, wouldn't you feel overwhelmed?"

The elevator doors opened, and Jiang Yan stepped out of the building. The April sunlight filtered through the sycamore leaves of Itaewon and fell on his shoulders, the dappled light and shadows swaying gently with his steps.

He stood on the side of the street waiting for the red light, looked down and took out his phone, found Choi Sulli's number, and dialed it.

I answered the phone after it rang three times.

"Yo-boo-seo," Choi Sulli's voice came through the receiver.

"The truth is me."

"Yes, I know." Her tone was calm, as if she had been waiting for this call for a long time.

Jiang Yan stood in front of the zebra crossing, watching the red light countdown tick down second by second, and said bluntly, "I resigned from SM Entertainment, you should already know that, right?"

There was a two-second silence on the other end of the phone. "Yes, Arasso, it's all over the company. The rookie genius in the production department went head-to-head with Director Kim to protect Sherry from a bad movie, and in the end, the president personally decided to fire him."

Choi Sulli paused, her tone carrying a hint of self-deprecation, "Jiang Yan, you're practically a legend at SM now. People can gossip about you in the break room for the entire lunch break."

Jiang Yan touched his nose: "I never expected to become famous at SM in this way. Mia, I should have told you sooner."

"Wei? Why should I apologize?" Choi Sulli's voice suddenly turned serious. "Do you think I would come to you crying and tugging at your sleeve, saying it's all my fault?"

Jiang Yan was stunned for a moment, unable to react to what was said.

"Actually, I really wanted to do that," Choi Sulli admitted frankly, her voice slightly nasal. "But I held back because I know what kind of person you are. You're definitely busy looking for a new job, arranging the certificate, and you must have taken care of everything before calling me."

She paused, then added, "So I've been waiting."

Jiang Yan's fingers tightened slightly as he gripped his phone.

The green light came on, but he stood still.

"Jiang Yan," Cui Xueli called his name, her voice soft yet firm, "Where are you now?"

"Itaewon, I just met with a senior."

"Then you wait for me at home."

"truth----"

"I won't cry or make a scene," Choi Sulli interrupted him. "I just want to see you. You shielded me from such a huge disaster; you can't not even let me see you once, can you?"

Jiang Yan was silent for a moment, then sighed softly, "Yes, I'll wait for you at home."

After hanging up the phone, he put it in his pocket and looked up at the sunset filtering through the gaps in the sycamore trees.

Lin Xiaolu floated beside him and whispered, "She's much more mature than I imagined."

"She's always been like this." Jiang Yan stepped across the zebra crossing and walked towards the parking lot. "She just hides it usually."

After getting in the car, we drove back to Hongdae Apartments, and it was already getting a little dark.

Jiang Yan parked the car, went upstairs, opened the door, took off his coat and hung it on the hanger, then went to the kitchen and poured himself a glass of water.

He leaned against the kitchen counter, watching the neon lights outside the window gradually brighten, his fingers unconsciously tapping the side of the cup.

Lin Xiaolu floated on the sofa, resting her chin on her hand as she looked at him: "Are you nervous?"

"What's there to be nervous about?"

"Didn't you think her tone on the phone just now was a bit off? It was too calm, almost frighteningly calm."

Jiang Yan didn't answer. He drank the water in the cup in one gulp and then put the cup into the sink.

Twenty minutes later, the doorbell rang.

Jiang Yan walked over and opened the door.

Choi Sulli stood outside the door, her long hair casually draped over her shoulders, her face lightly made up, and her lips painted with light pink lip gloss.

Her almond-shaped eyes were slightly red, and her eyelids were a little swollen. Clearly, she hadn't been as calm as she appeared on the phone during this time.

She was carrying two plastic bags. One bag contained several boxes of seaweed rice rolls and stir-fried rice cakes bought from the supermarket, and the other bag contained six bottles of wine.

Jiang Yan looked down at the six bottles of wine, his eyebrows twitching.

Why did you buy so much alcohol?

"Drink up." Choi Sulli shoved the plastic bag into his hand with an air of entitlement, bent down to change her shoes, and said, "You're not allowed to leave until dawn."

"This is my home."

"Then drink until dawn and don't sleep. I know you still have some in the fridge."

Jiang Yan watched as she walked into the living room with practiced ease, placing boxes of seaweed rice rolls and fried rice cakes on the coffee table, and then taking out bottles of wine and arranging them neatly in a row, as if she were setting up some important ritual props.

Lin Xiaolu floated behind Jiang Yan and whispered in a tone of anticipation, "It's over. Judging from this, she really seems to be planning to drink with you until dawn."

Jiang Yan ignored her, walked to the sofa and sat down, watching Cui Xueli open two bottles of wine, handing one to him and keeping the other for herself.

"Jiang Yan." Cui Xueli held the wine bottle in one hand, looked up at him, and the warm yellow light of the living room reflected in her almond-shaped eyes. "From now on, whatever I ask you, you answer. Don't try to fool me."

Jiang reached out and took the bottle; the cool, refreshing feel of the glass came through his palm.

"it is good."

"First thing," Sulli held up one finger, "when you helped me block 'ReaI,' did you ever think you'd get fired?"

"I've thought about it."

"You thought about it and still did it?"

"What's done is done."
