A small plot of land in a mountain village

Chapter 129 Second Visit to the Police Station {First Update}

A new great war is about to break out.

Old Zhu, sitting in the car, stared out the window with a serious expression. If he hadn't happened to witness this incident today, he wouldn't have believed that the urban management officers would treat ordinary people like this.

Xiao Dong had Secretary Zhu call him back to stand by the car. He looked at the scene with a slightly puzzled expression. He silently mourned for these guys; trying to do this in front of the secretary was like a mantis trying to stop a chariot—they were practically asking for trouble!

The bald man looked at Zhang Niu lying on the ground and knew that this must be the fat man's friend.

I recognize this bald-headed urban management officer in front of me. If you don't keep your eyes open in this county, you won't survive long.

He walked over with a smile. "Brother Gang! It's rare to run into you again. I wonder if you can let that guy behind us go."

Gangtou naturally recognized the bald man in front of him. He used to hang out in the county town, but now that the man had started a legitimate business and quit, he still knew a lot of people.

He glanced at Zhang Niu on the ground; he hadn't expected this kid to bring out the bald man. Remembering what happened before, he felt a surge of anger, but forced back his rage. "This kid, I wonder what his relationship is with you?"

The more people watching from afar, the faster this matter needs to be resolved. "He's a friend of mine, so please give me some face. If he did something wrong, I'll have him host a banquet to apologize next time. That should be alright, right?" That was all I could say.

Steelhead naturally saw that a lot of people had gathered around. Oh well, he'd already beaten him up, so his anger had subsided considerably. He decided to give Baldy some face, but he still had to say something harsh: "I can let this go for your sake. But you won't be so lucky next time."

Baldy knew what Steelhead meant. He was only being polite this time; it wouldn't matter who he met next time. He then laughed heartily, "Thanks then, consider it a favor I owe you."

These two groups really do have the potential to be gangsters. They keep talking in a friendly manner, which makes Old Zhu's expression tense. It's obvious what he's feeling.

Baldy's men went over and helped Zhang Niu over.

As soon as Zhang Niu arrived, the fat man quickly asked, "Are you alright?"

My feet and hands ached. Those blows from the stick flew around with tremendous force. This was truly unbearable for an ordinary person.

"It's okay, don't worry," he said, enduring the pain.

This put the fat man's mind at ease.

If Zhang Niu had told me to run away, I really wouldn't have escaped being beaten.

After a few polite exchanges, Steel Head and Baldy left, effectively calling it a day.

Just as the two were about to leave, police sirens blared.

Several police cars were parked in front of Gangtou and his group, leaving both sides confused and unsure of what was going on.

The police arrived very slowly. Old Zhu took out his phone and saw that more than fifteen minutes had passed. He frowned.

"Xiao Dong, let's go!"

Upon hearing the sound, Xiao Dong jumped into his car and sped away.

The newly appointed director arrived. He had come as soon as he received orders from his superiors. Looking at the vehicle with the provincial capital license plate parked there, he knew exactly who it was.

"Take them all back and examine them thoroughly," he said to his subordinates.

"Friend, I know someone in your office. Let's just let this go!" Steelhead revealed his connections, hoping to get away with it this time.

Gangtou didn't recognize the new director; he only knew that the old director had been imprisoned.

"I don't care what your relationship is, just go for a bit!" They didn't give him any face at all.

Steelhead was so angry he almost jumped up.

Normally, we would just turn a blind eye and let it pass.

This is a call from above, emphasizing that not a single one can be let go, and it's a key task.

The group separated and obediently got into the police car.

The crowd of onlookers dispersed; the show had gone too far.

Through the rearview mirror, Xiao Dong saw the secretary's expression, an expression he hadn't seen in a long time.

This matter concerning urban management officers must be dealt with severely. They've become scoundrels. Most of them are unofficial staff, and their quality is significantly lower. Many of them got in through connections.

The car drove onto a country road.

Zhang Niu nudged the fat man sitting next to him with his shoulder, preparing to speak.

The policeman sitting at the top said coldly, "Don't talk, don't move, and sit still."

This was Zhang Niu's second time getting into a police car; calling it bad luck wouldn't be an exaggeration.

I was at a perfectly good market when this steel-headed guy came along and kept chasing me, causing me to get hit by a car while crossing the road. It feels like I forgot to check the almanac before leaving home today.

The fat man and the bald man sat there, not in a hurry at all. They had only brought this person along; they hadn't brought any equipment, so it wasn't a big problem.

I never expected that even after changing careers and going through the motions, this matter would still come knocking on my door. How ridiculous.

"Secretary, that should be Happy Abode up ahead." We saw a GG sign by the roadside as we passed the asphalt road.

Looking around the countryside, I saw rapid development; they'd even built asphalt roads. While not as good as cement roads, it was still quite good for a rural area.

Following the route on the GG sign, on the uphill road, I saw another GG sign. This was moved by Zhang Niu after he repaired the cement road to the cedar tree.

There's a big difference between this section of cement road and asphalt road.

This road is well-maintained; I wonder what the Happy Little Abode inside is like.

Following the cement road past a small grove of trees, Old Zhu was greeted by the sight of Happy Little House.

The wild boars that had been chasing each other on the concrete field scattered in a flash. Only two little rabbits remained squatting there, neither running nor moving.

Drive the car into the parking shed.

Is this the place where Old Zhang lives?

"Old Zhu is here! Why didn't you let me know? I could have picked you up at the intersection."

As soon as I stepped out of the car, Old Zhang's familiar voice rang out from behind me.

When Old Zhang saw the wild boar running back, he knew that someone had come up.

Old Zhang's face was even rosier than when he came before. It seems that Old Zhang has changed quite a bit in this place.

His face, which had just been serious, suddenly broke into a smile. "I just got here."

"You must be tired from the journey! Let's rest at the bamboo pavilion." He led Old Zhu to the edge of the bamboo grove.

Walking around and looking at the place, this is something that is indispensable for becoming an official.

Xiao Dong was fairly satisfied with this place.

However, knowing that the secretary had come here to meet old friends, and that Xiao Dong had only been transferred not long ago, Chairman Zhang was naturally unaware of this matter.

As soon as the two sat down, Liang Shan, who had heard the noise in the kitchen, knew that it was Lao Zhang's friend who had come, so he quickly brewed a pot of "Lady's Tea".

"Wait a minute, the dish will be ready soon. I wonder why those two fat guys haven't come back yet."

Chairman Zhang was also puzzled after hearing this. "They should be back by now," he said. "They're probably on their way; they should be back later."

Liang Shan thought about it and realized that they were probably already on their way.

"Old Zhu, this is the village's 'Lady's Tea,' try it and see what you think." He picked up the steaming teapot and poured Old Zhu a full cup.

The tea was boiling hot, and this tea set was brought by Chairman Zhang himself, who wanted to savor the taste of the tea.

Old Zhu is a tea connoisseur. Although the tea from the countryside is of average quality, the tranquility he experiences while savoring it in this mountainous region is unique.

Old Zhu picked up his tea, took a small sip, and squinted his eyes. "Not bad. It seems that you have to choose the right place to drink tea. This place feels different from my courtyard."

The moment I took a sip of tea, I felt a refreshing coolness that made my pores feel incredibly relaxed. This tea was brewed using water from my spatial dimension.

The tea brewed from it has a unique aroma, which is why Chairman Zhang, with his rosy complexion, can enjoy the pleasure of drinking tea every day.

The cup of tea was quickly emptied, clearly indicating that it suited Old Zhu's taste perfectly.

The taste of it in the mountains is truly incomparable.

After enjoying a drink, Old Zhu temporarily put aside the trivial matters he had witnessed in the city. He was determined to take a good rest during this rare half-day of leisure.

Old Zhu remembered that this place seemed to be run by Zhang Niu. So he asked, "Where's that young man you mentioned? Why didn't he come out? Did he go to work in the garden?"

He took a sip of tea and said with a smile, "He went to the city to sell cycads; he should be back soon."

No wonder, it turns out he was selling ironwood in the city.

Outside the bamboo pavilion were flower pillars in various colors, which surprised Old Zhu, who was sitting there tasting the food.

Potted cycads of various colors were displayed in the garden; quite an extravagant display. In Old Zhu's memory, cycads took over ten years to bloom. Were they all bought?

Old Zhu still wanted to meet this young man, even Chairman Zhang cared about him so much.

"Hey, isn't that a wild boar?" Old Zhu, sipping his "Lady's Tea," exclaimed in surprise.

It turned out that King Kong had come out from outside, followed by several wild boar piglets, all in an orderly fashion.

"Don't make a fuss. This wild boar was raised by that young man, and it just recovered its health." Old Zhu looked at him with surprise.

When Old Zhang mentioned this, he recalled the poaching incident. "So you were referring to this wild boar. It's quite big. Is this guy docile?" In Old Zhu's eyes, wild boars have always been wild and untamed. He had observed many wild boar farms in the suburbs, and the wild boars were basically kept in captivity. How could they be like this wild boar, wandering out unrestrained?

Chairman Zhang was used to it. "This wild boar is tamed. Many children in the village come to play with it. Moreover, since this wild boar appeared near Zhangjia Village, no other wild boars have appeared, and the crops on the mountain have not been damaged."

Old Zhu had never heard of such a strange thing before, and he quickly asked, "What interesting story is it? Tell me about it."

There were quite a few amusing anecdotes, which made Old Zhu chuckle. No wonder Old Zhu stayed in this place.

Just as Jin came out, the thugs inside the house rushed out, followed by the usual eighteen little turtles. However, the little turtles crawled slowly, allowing them a long way to cover the thugs.

"This is..." Old Zhu stared in disbelief at the black figure that appeared.

Xiao Dong was taken aback when he put the orchard into a defensive stance. Did they really raise crocodiles in this orchard?

The little rabbits by the pond didn't run away when they saw the thugs; instead, they hopped over to them and approached them.

The thug opened its blood-red mouth, then immediately closed it and continued crawling towards the pond in front of it, before sinking into the water. The little turtles that followed behind it fell into the water one by one.

There was a place where Zhang Niu made a steep slope so that the little turtle could roll straight down it.

What I saw made me wonder if this had really happened—a crocodile that doesn't eat rabbits, yet plays with them. Unheard of.

"That crocodile was also raised by that young man. He said he found it in a cold pool in the mountains. This guy is very lazy. He just sunbathes all day and doesn't pay much attention to people. It's very safe." Chairman Zhang recounted the story in detail.

Only then did Old Zhu's doubts disappear. "That kid really tamed the crocodile." But there was still disbelief in his eyes.

"If you don't believe me, you can wait for this crocodile to come ashore and sunbathe. You can touch it and see if it's real," Chairman Zhang said calmly.

Touching a crocodile? Old Zhu didn't think he had the guts, but Old Zhang's words, and the genuine look in his eyes, suggested it might actually be safe. (To be continued. For more chapters and to support the author, please log in and read the official version!)
