Chapter 162 A Gift from Heaven {4th Update, Requesting Monthly Tickets}

If something happens in the hospital, no one can escape responsibility. I've repeatedly emphasized that this matter must be handled properly, and there can be no accidents. If you don't want to ruin your future, you all need to take this seriously.

Guan Feng, lying on the bed, opened his eyes with difficulty. "Xiao Wei, Xiao Wei, you're here."

The nurse quickly adjusted the head of the bed to make it easier to talk.

"Yeah, I rushed back from the army. I was on a mission a while ago and only just got here now. Are you feeling better?" Liu Wei, with his square face, said.

Guan Feng said with a wry smile, "That's how it is. It's getting worse every day. I was mentally prepared for it."

Everyone naturally understood what he meant, but for Guan Feng to say it himself was a choice, a bittersweet one. In the prime of his life, it was all for naught; anyone would feel sad.

Although the family sent word out, none of the doctors who came to treat him had any good solutions. Guan Feng was initially full of confidence, but now his last hope has been shattered.

From being able to walk at the beginning to now being completely untreatable, the pain involved is something that most people cannot endure.

Since the onset of the illness, it has become extremely difficult for him to even open his eyes. He is afraid he will not be able to open them again tomorrow. The doctor shook his head at noon, indicating that it was clearly not going to work. He was still very happy to be able to see his cousin in the evening.

No one knew what to say; the illness had progressed to this point, and even Guan Feng himself was aware of it.

"Xiao Wei, get me the wine over there on the sofa. It's for your upcoming promotion." He said weakly, his voice already heavy with emotion.

Since Xiao Feng had said so, Liu Wei naturally agreed and walked towards the sofa.

But the nurse next to him panicked and said, "The patient can't drink alcohol because he's sick." She quickly stopped Liu Wei.

Liu Wei, from the Liu family behind, cursed, "Go to hell! My brother wants to drink, and nobody can stop him."

Another man pushed and hugged the female nurse, driving her outside and closing the door.

"That nurse was really long-winded; it's quiet now."

On the sofa was the premium plum wine that Secretary Zhu had brought that morning; he was already feeling quite distressed about spending so much, as he only had a few bottles.

"Huh, what kind of wine is this?" The unfashionable bottle didn't catch their eye. But they still took out a bottle, which happened to be the premium plum wine.

"Xiao Feng, this wine is no good. How about I go out and buy you a better bottle?" Liu Wei was very dissatisfied with the wine in his hand. Who sent this? Why would they send such a low-quality wine?

Normally, they would just throw it in the trash. They can't drink alcohol in the military, but they like to drink strong liquor outside. That's the style of soldiers.

"Never mind... whatever you want!" If there's no good wine, then forget it; I'm not thinking about that right now.

Guan Feng has now completely given up. He's just seeing his last friend, and that's how this life ends.

Since Xiao Feng was fine with it, Liu Wei naturally had nothing to say. Even though it was just local liquor, he would make do with it and fulfill his wish.

Upon opening the bottle, the aroma of the wine filled the air. Liu Wei realized he was mistaken. The bottle itself looked rather rough, but the wine inside was of excellent quality. Despite having tasted many fine wines, Liu Wei couldn't guess what kind of wine it was.

Liu Wei took out a few wine glasses, poured out the silk-like liquid, took one of them, and walked to Guan Feng's side.

As soon as the aroma of the wine wafted out, Guan Feng, who was lying on the bed, slowly inhaled it. In just a short while, he felt much more energetic than before, even though the doctor had told him not to drink alcohol.

But he was powerless to change the situation, and he didn't even care about the alcohol ban anymore. He still wanted to taste this good wine. He had been an official for many years, but he had never tasted such a mellow and fragrant wine.

"Drink slowly!" He brought the glass to his lips, carefully tilting it to let the wine flow into his mouth.

The female nurse outside stomped her feet a few times and then ran to find the hospital director. She needed to explain the matter quickly, otherwise, if something went wrong and she was blamed, she wouldn't be able to explain herself.

The people inside didn't notice the thin layer of mist above their heads.

"Good wine!" Guan Feng said after drinking the wine.

"It is indeed a good wine. Although the alcohol content is not high, the taste is something I have never experienced before. I didn't even know that the provincial capital produced such good wine." He seemed to regret that he had come across such a good wine now.

"Hey! Guan Feng, you look much better than before?" The skinny Liu Wei said, noticing Guan Feng's complexion.

"That's probably because he drank that much! The alcohol content isn't low, of course his face will turn red." Liu Wei's words made a lot of sense. After being sick for almost a month, it's normal for one's face to turn red when drinking for the first time.

Peng Peng —

There was a knock on the door. When Liu Wei opened it, he found that it was his second uncle, Liu Feng.

"You guys are messing around, drinking alcohol. Are you tired of drinking because there's no alcohol in the army?" Liu Feng, who came in, smelled the alcohol and scolded.

My second uncle is known throughout the clan for his ferocity. He usually seems quite approachable, but if someone does something wrong, he can fly into a rage.

Liu Feng went out for a while, and on his way back he ran into a nurse, so he rushed over.

"Second Uncle, I'm the one who asked them to open the wine, stop talking."

"You all get out of here and go home. I'll settle accounts with you every day." Although these people were considered decent, they had all become confused due to illness and drinking.

Liu Wei and the others walked out of the room with their heads hanging low, looking dejected like roosters. They didn't dare to look at their second uncle, who was still angry. But the nurse wasn't so lucky.

All eyes were fixed on the female nurse, and a chill ran down my spine. I realized I'd called the wrong person this time. How dare this grown man bully me?

"Xiao Feng, aren't you being ridiculous? How could you go drinking? Those guys are so ignorant, why are you going to join them in their nonsense?"

"Second Uncle, don't be angry. My condition has deteriorated to this point. You can tell from the doctor's expression today that my illness is beyond saving," he said calmly.

Even Uncle didn't know what to say. Anyone could see the doctor's expression at noon; there was no need to say anything more. No wonder Xiao Feng thought that way.

Fine, I'll just be impulsive this once!

The next morning, Guan Feng opened his eyes and saw a faint light shining through the curtain. He couldn't help but raise his hand to shield his eyes from the glaring light.

But when I blocked the light with my hands, my mind went blank for a moment. I hadn't been able to move my hands for more than half a month, so how could I lift them up this morning?

I feel better than yesterday, and yesterday it was so difficult for me to even open my eyes. Could it be that God took pity on me and made me recover overnight?

But I still can't feel anything in my feet, only my hands are fine.

The nurse, carrying breakfast, pushed open the door and "smash!" the bowl and chopsticks in her hands fell to the ground.

He turned around and ran out quickly to report to the hospital director. The nurse knew a lot about Guan Feng's condition. She had been guessing how many days he had left to live, but this morning she received a big surprise.

In a short while, the small room was filled with the second uncle, the dean, and other senior members of the Liu family.

My second uncle had just finished breakfast when he received the call and rushed over. He was able to move his hands overnight, which is a sign that he is getting better.

The hospital director, a bespectacled man in his forties, couldn't come to any conclusions after a thorough examination. Based on the patient's condition, it was likely a matter of only a few days at most.

Could this be the state before a final burst of lucidity? But that's unlikely; medically speaking, this would be considered a miracle.

Whether it's a miracle or something else, as long as he gets better, that's all that matters. Medical terminology doesn't matter. This undeniable fact proves that Guan Feng's condition has indeed improved.

"We can't really explain this situation, but we still need to hear how your nephew feels. We can analyze it from another angle," the dean said softly.

Uncle thought the dean's words made sense and nodded in agreement. "Xiao Feng, tell me when you started to feel better."

The room fell silent as everyone waited for Guan Feng's answer. The dean was actually very curious about what kind of medicine it was, as it was so effective that it could restore so much of a person's complexion overnight.

If this can be solved, it would be a major breakthrough in the medical field, and the Nobel Prize in Medicine might even be within reach—something the medical community has always dreamed of.

Lying in bed, Guan Feng began to recall carefully. He felt very unwell at noon yesterday, and by evening even speaking and opening his eyes were difficult. It seemed to have started after Xiao Wei and the others arrived.

Oh right! After drinking, my whole body felt warm, it couldn't be from that bar! The aroma was wonderful, but I've never seen alcohol cure this ailment that even doctors can't cure.

"I remember feeling very hot all over when I was drinking, and then I don't remember anything else." Although they wouldn't believe her, she still told them about drinking last night.

I thought it was something serious, but it turns out it was just drinking? The dean shook his head. "That's absolutely impossible. It's a fact that drinking while sick can make you better."

Clearly, they didn't believe the alcohol would have any effect, and even their second uncle didn't really believe it.

Aside from drinking, Guan Feng couldn't think of anything else that could improve his condition, except for the small glass of wine he had last night.

Guan Feng couldn't explain it clearly, so no one asked any further. He was already very satisfied with his improved health.

And so the matter passed. The dean didn't get the information he wanted; after all, the other party was an official, and he secretly lamented that he had missed a good opportunity.

However, the next morning, Guan Feng's hands, which he could move, returned to normal, though he seemed to be struggling. This puzzled his second uncle and the others.

At this point, Guan Feng felt it must be the alcohol that was the problem, otherwise why would things have reverted to the way they were today? Clinging to this last straw, he hurriedly whispered to his second uncle.

The plum wine on the sofa was taken by Xiao Wei and the others before they left.

Liu Feng quickly dialed the number. Fortunately, there was still one bottle of wine left. Regardless of whether the problem was with the wine or not, he asked Xiao Wei and the others to deliver it immediately.

Liu Feng was anxious and didn't explain the situation clearly over the phone, which made Xiao Wei and Xiao Wei think something had happened, so they drove over in their SUV.

I only found out when I got there that the problem was with the wine. Apart from the first bottle of premium plum wine, the taste of the later ones was much worse, but they were still good wines.

After drinking it, I felt incredibly energetic when I woke up in the morning. I was full of energy for things like boxing. I was planning to keep the last bottle and bring it back, but then I got a phone call early in the morning.

As soon as he drank the wine, Xiao Feng's complexion improved, but he said, "This wine is much worse than the last one."

Liu Feng assumed that Xiao Wei and the others had drunk all the good wine, and immediately prepared to start cursing.

"Second Uncle, you can't blame us for this. All the other wines are like this; only the ones we drank that night are good," Xiao Wei said, bowing his head.

In the past, Xiao Wei and the others were taken to the army by their second uncle for training before being released. They were still quite afraid of the dark.
