Chapter 102 Rebirth Through Bloodshed
In the decisive blow that decided the outcome, Simon aimed for the enemy's head.
Once the manipulator is dealt with, even the strongest steel frame is nothing more than a pile of iron.
His figure appeared directly in front of the enemy. The blood flowing from the wound on his chest had completely stained his robe red. The original brownish-gray fabric was completely soaked in scarlet from the chest down. The same scarlet color flashed in his eyes, which were filled with furious violence.
Smash it! Smash that guy's head off! He poured his will into the heavy holy hammer and swung it with all his might!
The dull thud of the impact echoed in his ears, followed by a cracking sound like a tree branch breaking.
The upper left side of the helmet was dented and completely deformed, and the two viewing holes were also smashed, with thick blood flowing out of the holes, like the blood and tears of the armor's stomach.
The enemy's head was smashed, and the powerful steam armor remained standing, but Simon staggered and fell.
The blood loss was so great that symptoms of cold hands and feet appeared, followed by dry mouth and throat, and then dizziness.
Brienne had shared her life with him once, but this time she wasn't by his side, and he had to rely on himself to survive.
His body fell uncontrollably into the flower field. He lay on the ground, and a small purple flower appeared in his gradually dimming vision.
Back when he fell into the second level, he received a blessing from the Mother of Abundance. However, he really didn't want to continue to draw power from that deity, so he was unable to complete the task given to him by the Mother of Abundance. But now, in order to save his life, he had no choice but to complete that task.
The blessing from the "Diligent Florist" allowed him to see the special effects of the purple flowers, and after eating them, he gained a temporary recovery effect.
His fingers were so cold they felt frozen. He plucked the purple flower with his stiff fingers, stuffed it whole into his mouth, and tasted the bitterness with a slight aftertaste.
The chewed petals and juice slid into his stomach, and he felt a warm current flowing from his stomach to all parts of his body. He could directly feel his flesh growing back, and his vision became slightly clearer. The damage from the battle was slowly repairing, but this was not enough to slow the loss of his life.
The second and third petals were stuck in his throat.
The nun knelt beside him, speaking loudly, but to him it was nothing but faint noise as his hearing gradually faded.
She took out a bandage, bit off a piece with her teeth to bandage him, but Simon could not hear any sound, and the sensation of his limbs gradually disappeared, as if Sisi was manipulating someone else's body. Everything was in vain. He only felt his self-awareness gradually dissipating and his soul gradually leaving his body.
Death descends silently —
[Blood and Flesh Evangelism Contract: Consume three special flowers (3/3)]
Oh, darling, you look terrible.
In that moment of utter despair, the green and purple cursive script once again emerged, twisted and contorted.
The Mother of Abundance is grateful for your continued sacrifices; she will not let you die such a miserable death.
Accept her blessings, and then bring her even more surprises.
[Blessed: Bloodthirsty War Demon]
Similar to the previous Iron Emperor's Blessing forging core, there is only one option.
My dear, you will be reborn from the ashes, and your blood will grant you even greater power.
The faint thought chose that blessing.
[My dear, Mother of Abundance has sensed danger.]
[There is an arrogant fool who attempts to steal the power of the abyss.]
By dealing with him, you will receive the love of the Mother of Abundance.
[A New Commission for the Gospel of Flesh and Blood: Slaughter]
His blurred vision was gradually filled with thick blackness, his eyelids grew heavier and heavier, and he was finally forced to close his eyes.
It was so noisy; he heard a cacophony of voices.
"Professor, could you please do something for me?"
"I'm powerless, Sister. Your eyesight is much better than this old man's. Look, I've stitched up all his wounds, but he still won't wake up." The old man sighed wearily. "Now, all I can do is my duty: pray."
"I still have blood, give him my blood!"
"By the Iron Emperor, I've said it countless times: you are not of the same blood type! I truly wish the Holy Hammer Sisters could give you a few more lessons to supplement your knowledge in this area!"
I'm so thirsty and hungry.
The emptiness in his stomach was particularly unbearable. He was starving and desperately wanted to enjoy a feast. He could eat anything now, whether it was a delicacy or the awful roasted pieces of game meat from that night.
Only then did he realize a crucial question: how did he survive?
The name "Bloodthirsty War Demon" came to mind. He had been blessed by the Mother of Abundance at the brink of death, which allowed him to survive by sheer luck.
This was the first time he had received a blessing whose effects he knew nothing about, and the feeling made him somewhat uncomfortable, as if there was a time bomb inside him that could explode at any moment.
The feeling of anxiety intensified his hunger, and he finally couldn't help but ask, "I'm so hungry, do you have anything to eat?"
All was silent; all sounds disappeared after he spoke.
He straightened his back and looked out from his makeshift tent, only to see astonished faces.
The nun was the first to rush forward.
"How are you feeling now? Is there anything else that's bothering you?" the nun asked anxiously, rattling off a series of questions.
During the conversation, the nun reached out and gently stroked the bandage on Simon's chest, seemingly checking his wounds, but actually using her fingers to caress his firm chest. Her fingers lightly brushed over the old scars, and she was so focused on it that a look of fascination appeared on her face.
"Could you get me some food?"
"Oh, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry!" The nun hurriedly withdrew her finger and turned back to the campfire.
Tonight's dinner is a meat soup made from wild game. The chef is Pike, whose culinary skills are superb. He not only carries the strange bird's feed but also a small bag of fine salt.
Sipping his broth, Simon listened as everyone recounted what had happened after he fell into a coma.
They hid the armor in a nearby rocky forest, and buried the body in the ground.
"You did a great job," Simon nodded.
"Are you sure your injuries are alright?" Professor Loris was the first to ask.
"We cave raiders usually don't even bother with bandages for injuries of this severity, because they're practically incurable," Sofia, the hostage, interjected. "I never expected you to survive."
"We're all so worried about you!" Flanie said, hugging the birdcage, while Pick nodded beside her.
"Don't worry, I ate a flower that can speed up wound healing before I passed out, which saved my life," Simon replied fluently.
During the conversation, Simon subconsciously glanced at what Frani was holding. The usually nosy girl was unusually silent today. She just had a wicked smile on her lips and was looking at Simon meaningfully, as if she had carefully prepared a prank and was just waiting for Simon to step on it.
But he didn't have time to think about those things now. He was focused on eating, and in the blink of an eye, he had finished the meat soup and carefully gnawed on the bones of the hunted beast before he was done.
He felt relieved after his stomach was filled with food.
The crisis is temporarily resolved; let's get some rest tonight.
The temporary camp was set up in a stone forest, where they would not be disturbed. The only simple tent in the camp was reserved for Simon, while the rest of the people slept on blankets.
"What are you smirking about?" Simon asked Brienne, carrying the birdcage into the tent with displeasure.
"You'll find out soon enough—" she chuckled mischievously. "You know what? Some predators like to hunt at night."
"What nonsense are you talking about?"
Suddenly, Simon heard footsteps approaching from afar.
In the stillness of the night, under the glow of the spores, Simon saw a tall figure standing in front of the tent.
Her long, silvery-white hair reflected the light of the spores. The nun stood in front of the tent, hesitant, fiddling with the messy strands of silvery-white hair on her forehead and tucking them behind her ears.
After hesitating for a long time, she stared intently at Simon inside the tent, and finally mustered up the courage to speak: "Simon, I... I can't sleep—"
