Monster Girl Contract Manual
Chapter 17 Revenge, Tracking
Leila was imbuing Pierce's weapon with wind power, but she had only cast the spell halfway when a heavy force suddenly came from above her head.
A large hand suddenly pressed down, roughly pressing down on her head, causing her body to bend over violently.
Caught off guard by the interruption of her spellcasting, Leila was about to question House beside her when a sharp and urgent shout from House suddenly rang in her ears:
"Sylvia!"
It's that bird-like monster from yesterday!
Having dodged the sneak attack from the sky, House, who had experienced yesterday's ambush, immediately recognized that the bird-like monster that had attacked him was the same one from yesterday.
House immediately shouted at Sylvia.
Fortunately, this time Sylvia didn't freeze in place like she did yesterday.
Upon receiving House's order, she immediately straightened up, swiftly drew her bow and nocked an arrow, turned to look at the sky, and the arrow shot out, accurately piercing the wing of the bird-like monster.
House stared intently at the strange bird's trajectory as it plummeted off course, and seeing that his attack had succeeded, he immediately spoke again:
"Sylvia, take care of the goblin archers and cover Pierce!"
The girl reacted swiftly upon hearing the sound, drawing her bow again and aiming the arrow at the goblin archer at the edge of the lair.
The opponent was staring intently at Pierce, who was lying face down with his head in his hands, and had already drawn his bowstring taut, ready to fire.
A flash of cold light, and the arrow pierced a vital spot, killing the goblin archer instantly.
The arrow that the goblin archer released before dying struck Pierce's armor with a "clang," but failed to penetrate it.
Everything happened in the blink of an eye.
Pierce, who was lying on the ground with one hand covering his head, was suddenly brought back to his senses when the goblin sentinels outside the lair sounded a sharp and strange alarm.
He quickly got up from the ground and immediately activated his thrusting skill, bursting out with a sprinting speed far exceeding his usual speed. In an instant, he rushed to the entrance of the lair, and his longsword thrust forward swiftly, piercing straight through the goblin sentry's body.
"What do we do?!"
Still shaken, Leila looked at House, completely unsure of what to do.
Leila subconsciously began chanting a spell to enchant House's longsword.
But House interrupted her, gesturing for her to go help Pierce first.
The opponent was blocking the entrance to the cave, stabbing the goblins that kept leaping out of the lair with one sword strike after another.
But Pierce's strength was limited.
After piercing several goblins in succession, Pierce's arm began to ache and tremble, and he gradually lost his grip on the heavy longsword.
Fortunately, the goblin corpses he had pierced blocked the entrance to the cave, making it difficult for the other goblins to climb out in a short time.
Just then, he felt the longsword in his hand become light again.
Looking down, he saw a faint green light swirling around the sword, as Leila was imbuing his longsword with wind element.
Pierce glanced gratefully at Leila before continuing to pierce the goblins.
In the distance, after successfully completing the wind enchantment for Pierce, Leila's tense nerves suddenly relaxed, and her legs instantly went weak and trembled.
With her free hand, she instinctively grabbed House's sleeve, leaning slightly against him to steady her swaying body.
On the other side of House, Sylvia held her longbow taut, arrow nocked, her expression full of vigilance.
She glanced briefly at Leila nestled beside House, then quickly looked away, focusing intently on the sky, wary of the wounded bird of prey's potential return and sneak attack.
House, however, was speechless at the actions of the two.
Why are you two getting so close?
It's me who needs to protect you, not the other way around!
Leila was pressed close to his arm, and Sylvia was standing very close beside him. The two of them were squeezed together on either side, which severely restricted House's movement and space to swing his sword.
House reluctantly took a half step back, gently pried open Lei's hand that was tugging at his sleeve, and steadily led her to the side of a tree trunk, letting her hold onto the trunk for support. He continued to keep an eye on the surroundings, vigilant and ready to step forward to support Pierce at any time.
After a while, Pierce, feeling weak all over and with sore and numb arms, turned around and looked at House with a pleading look.
Upon receiving the signal, House immediately stepped forward to fill the gap, swiftly and cleanly eliminating the few remaining struggling goblin minions.
As long as the goblins are kept out of the cave, they are easy to deal with.
In a one-on-one situation, beating them is like beating a seven or eight-year-old child; just take a little precaution.
After House finished off all the goblins, he looked at Pierce's full-body scale armor, worth 5 gold coins, and a hint of envy flashed in his eyes.
Only Pierce would dare to do that.
The attacks from those goblin brats couldn't hurt Pierce at all.
Pierce was wearing full armor.
Unlike me, who only had a cheap, hard leather armor that barely protected my upper body.
Although it is more mobile than Pierce, it is completely inferior in terms of defense.
I'm a little envious.
After dealing with the goblins, House didn't rush to take the spoils. Instead, he led the three of them into the depths of the dark cave.
The cave was in a mess, the scene was dilapidated and eerie, with traces of filth left everywhere where monsters had lived.
Although it wasn't as terrifying as what House had seen during his last adventure, it was still beyond the comprehension of ordinary people.
The three newcomers couldn't take it and all vomited.
After briefly surveying the horrific surroundings, House led Pierce to use his longsword to kill the goblin cubs.
But when Pierce saw the babbling, tiny cub on the ground, he couldn't bear it and hesitated to bring down his sword.
These are all still children.
"To deal with this kind of monster, we must eradicate it completely, otherwise the next victims might be you, me, or even them!"
House stared into Pierce's eyes and spoke earnestly.
The latter's fingers tightened and loosened as he gripped the longsword, before finally nodding heavily to House.
.......
Stepping out of the dark and damp goblin's lair, a refreshing forest breeze greets you.
House looked down at the goblin corpses laid out in front of the cave entrance.
There are 12 in total.
It has to be said that in goblin extermination missions, the most valuable loot is usually the goblin itself.
As for their nests?
There was nothing of value inside.
There wasn't even anyone who could be saved.
Only a field of listless, limp ewes, hens, and birds...
House looked up, gazing into the depths of the forest, then turned to the three beside him and spoke in a calm tone:
"Alright, shall we go get revenge together?"
The bird-like monster that had swooped down to ambush them earlier was severely wounded by Sylvia's arrow and fell from the sky. House memorized the location and trajectory of its fall.
"That monster is badly injured and can't have gone far. We can take this opportunity to search for it and eliminate any future trouble."
They had to find a way to kill this monster that had followed them all the way.
If we let it go, no one can guarantee that it won't return to its nest alive on the way back, or make noise to summon its kind to ambush and attack us.
House didn't want to create this fatal hidden danger for himself.
Only by completely eliminating them can they leave this misty forest in peace.
