Monster Girl Contract Manual
Chapter 33 Settling
After leaving the Healing Spring Apothecary, House headed straight for the Adventurers' Guild.
After experiencing the previous goblin warrior raid, House realized that he was not strong enough and immediately decided to continue to reflect.
The previous settling down resulted in [Slash] being upgraded from lv1 to lv3, directly saving House's life.
This time, House plans to continue his arduous training, determined to raise his skill to level 4 and carefully refine his martial arts techniques.
House's clumsy rolling dodges and stiff normal attacks during his previous battle against the goblin warrior made him realize that he still had a lot of room for improvement in actual combat.
Not only warrior skills, House also plans to find a way to collect the promotion materials needed for the next level of the two monster girls, Lilim and Happy.
Of course, House also remembered the ten silver coins he owed Master Marcus for learning the skills.
But there's no rush, there's still plenty of time.
The most important thing now is to improve our own capabilities, otherwise we will end up "having the life to make money but not the life to spend it".
House didn't want to die without paying off his debts.
......
Upon arriving at the Adventurers' Guild, House went directly to Uncle Garp through the receptionist and explained his purpose.
"I need your guidance."
House succinctly explained the current predicament to Karp.
He is still too weak and powerless.
I need to become stronger, strong enough to be like Garp, able to take on professionals on my own.
Otherwise, if he were to encounter a powerful monster like a goblin warrior on the outskirts of the forest, he would surely die.
Karp smiled as he listened to House's unfounded worries.
Having been an adventurer for thirty years, Garp knew that the probability of such an extremely dangerous encounter was extremely low, almost once in ten years.
How could House be so unlucky?
"Okay, welcome."
Surprisingly, Karp did not mock House's "excessive worry." Instead, he generously stated that he was always willing to guide him in his cultivation.
However, he spends his days teaching newcomers at the guild training grounds, and only has free time in the evenings. He hopes House won't mind.
"Uh, you misunderstood me."
House shook his head and quickly explained that he did not want to take up Karp's private time.
He planned to spend money to go through the guild's official channels and train and gain experience in the training ground with other apprentices.
I'm here both to say hello and to inquire about the cost of participating in the training.
House currently has less than 10 silver coins in his pocket, and some of them are used for daily expenses.
House needs to know how much the training will cost before he can make any further plans.
"It's not much, just one coin is enough to train for a month, during which you have to take care of your own food."
Karp's answer made House secretly breathe a sigh of relief.
It's alright, not too expensive.
After all, learning a skill only costs 10 silver coins, so it's unlikely that Garp's fees would be higher than learning a skill.
But that's not always the case.
"After all, Uncle Garp has thirty years of experience as an adventurer."
"What he teaches is not necessarily less valuable than skills."
House began to look forward to Capona's thirty years of accumulated adventure experience and unique insights.
That's a full thirty years!
Garp noticed the subtle changes in House's expression throughout.
The old man smiled silently to himself.
House was right. The guild's fee was 10 silver coins per month, with the guild taking 10% as funding for venue provision and equipment maintenance.
The instructors in charge of training comprise 90% of the team.
However, just like Marcus before him, Garp voluntarily gave up all of his share, only letting House pay the basic cost of maintaining the guild grounds.
He knew perfectly well that House, a newcomer who had only recently embarked on his adventures, didn't have much savings to begin with.
Moreover, after seeing House yesterday, Karp noticed that House's leather armor was severely damaged.
Combined with what House said about fighting the goblin warriors, Garp already had a general idea of House's current situation.
If it weren't for protecting the young man's pride, Garp would have even considered paying House's share of the guild's profits directly for him.
"I originally thought the fees would be similar to those for learning skills."
Coming to his senses, House took a silver coin from his bag and handed it to Karp.
"impossible."
Karp shook his head and took the silver coin, his tone tinged with humility and self-deprecation, frankly stating that his guidance and experience were not as valuable as properly learning skills.
"But isn't that just as important as learning skills?"
House spoke seriously.
Learning skills can genuinely improve one's abilities and better cope with various dangers on the road of adventure.
What Garp taught included wilderness survival, monster identification, various crises that might be encountered on an adventure and how to deal with them, as well as the most basic combat methods, weapon usage, and even the secrets of human power generation, close combat details, and which leg to step with first when running away...
These things also enable adventurers to better cope with various dangers on their adventures.
In terms of ultimate function and purpose, there is actually not much difference between the two.
Their practical value is equal.
Of course, if it involves higher-level, powerful skills, that's a different story.
Hearing House's insightful remarks, Karp was slightly taken aback.
He looked into House's eyes, and in the boy's clear eyes was a sincerity from the bottom of his heart.
Upon seeing this, Karp immediately burst into laughter, raising his hand to pat House on the shoulder repeatedly:
"Hahaha, good! Good! Good! Equally important, hahaha, you're right, you're right!"
After a long period of intense joy, Karp finally calmed down and gestured for House to go to the training ground to warm up. He then prepared to go to the guild's front desk alone to sign the contract.
"Don't you need me to come along?"
House was somewhat puzzled.
Marcus had previously paid for his expenses and handled everything for him, so he naturally didn't need to show his face.
But now that he's paying the fees himself, the guild doesn't even require him to do it in person?
Hearing House's question, Karp waved his hand, his tone gentle yet with the composure of an elder, and smiled faintly:
"No need, money is all that matters. We won't care even if you're from an orc guild. Alright, go to the training ground to warm up. I'm going to test your current strength later."
After saying that, Garp walked straight toward the front desk.
Hearing this somewhat strange statement, House instinctively felt that something was amiss.
House couldn't quite put his finger on what was wrong.
Could it be that Garp was comparing him to an orc?
Never mind, it doesn't matter.
House headed to the training ground to warm up, preparing for Karp's test.
......
the other side.
Karp, who was signing House, ran into Marcus, who was checking in for the day.
The two exchanged a few casual pleasantries.
Marcus, who hadn't seen House for over a week since he taught him the skills, was now learning from Garp that House had actually come to him wanting to train with Garp in basic combat techniques.
This piqued his interest.
"I didn't see House at the guild before. So he went on an adventure. Well, that makes sense. Practical training can better unleash one's potential."
Marcus automatically filled in the blanks in his mind about what House had been through during the time he was gone.
After repeatedly practicing on his own but always getting stuck at a bottleneck and unable to master the skills, he decided to go on an adventure in hopes of breaking through in real combat. He encountered danger along the way and realized that his overall strength as a newcomer was insufficient. He returned to find a master for a comprehensive upgrade, which improved his basic combat abilities, allowed him to better control his weapons, and strengthened his skills training.
This is not only House's experience, but also the experience of the vast majority of novice adventurers.
Marcus, as the guild's training master and mentor to novice warriors, could completely understand.
"Perfect timing, I'll go check on that kid's cultivation progress too."
Having finished his mental calculations, Marcus followed Garp to the training grounds.
It has been more than a week since they last met, and it's time for him to fulfill his duties as an instructor.
With House's talent and his guidance this time, he should be able to successfully practice the "Slash" skill to the beginner (lv1) stage.
