Chapter 174 The Conan of the Banking World [Second Update, Requesting Monthly Tickets]

Seeing that the three agreed to his decision, Kiryu Yaya looked at Yayoi Mizuna: "However, there is a problem right now. We don't know the phone number for the financing department of the Kyoto branch."

As a sales staff member, Yayoi Mina was more familiar with this aspect than the three boys.

Yayoi Mizuna stood up, her gaze sweeping around the teahouse before settling on the counter. "There's a public phone in the teahouse. I'll call and check the switchboard for the Kyoto branch of Mitsubishi Bank, then transfer to the finance department."

"it is good."

Kiryu Yaya nodded: "Then you go look up the number, I'll make the call."

Mizuna Yayoi immediately got up and walked towards the counter.

She walked much faster than usual in the bank, and she looked more efficient than usual.

Kenta Sasaki watched her retreating figure and whispered to Yaya Kiryu, "Yayoi-san seems... a little different today."

Kiryu Yaya glanced at him: "How is it different?"

I can't quite explain it.

Kenta Sasaki tilted his head: "Usually at the bank, she always keeps her head down and speaks softly. Today, although she's still a little shy, she seems—more proactive?"

Arima Kishou picked up his cold tea and added expressionlessly, "That's called home advantage."

Kenta Sasaki was taken aback: "What?"

"People are more relaxed and proactive at home than outside. This is common sense in psychology."

Arima Kishou paused, glanced at Kiryu Yaya, and then looked away.

"Of course, there could be other reasons as well."

Kenta Sasaki blinked, then slowly turned his head to look at Yaya Kiryu, his expression gradually becoming subtle.

"Arima, there's a hidden meaning in your words."

"no."

"Your expression clearly shows it."

"Your reading comprehension skills need improvement."

"you"

"alright."

Kiryu Yaya interrupted the bickering that was about to begin between the two, his gaze falling on the counter.

Mizuna Yayoi was standing next to a public phone, holding the receiver in one hand, saying something.

About two minutes later, she hung up the phone and walked back to the table.

"Senior, I've found it."

She sat down next to Kiryu Yaya and handed him a note: "The main switchboard number for Mitsubishi Bank's Kyoto branch. I just called and asked; the extension for the finance department is 234. Just call the main switchboard and ask for 234."

Kiryu Yaya took the note, glanced at the neat handwriting on it, and nodded.

"I'll make a phone call."

He stood up and walked towards the counter.

The public telephone is located at the very back of the teahouse, against the wall.

A black rotary dial telephone sits on a dark brown wooden table.

Kiryu Yaya took out a ten-yen coin from his pocket, inserted it into the coin slot, and dialed the number on the notepad.

The phone rang three times before being answered.

"Hello, Mitsubishi Bank Kyoto Branch."

"Financing class, internal line 234, please transfer me."

"Please wait a moment."

A soft click came from the receiver, followed by the waiting tone indicating a transfer.

A few seconds later, a male voice came from the other end of the phone. He sounded to be around forty years old, spoke slowly, and had a tone typical of people from Kyoto.

"Financing class, I'm Nishida."

Kiryu Yaya straightened up slightly, his tone steady and clear: "Hello, Mr. Nishida, I am Kiryu Yaya from the Financial Review Department of Mitsubishi Bank Osaka Branch."

There was a pause on the other end of the phone.

"————Osaka branch?"

"Yes."

Kiryu Yaya didn't give him much time to process the information and cut straight to the point: "Mr. Nishida, I am contacting you today because I have a potential risk lead that may be related to one of your branch's clients, and I would like to confirm this information with you."

Nishida's voice became noticeably more serious: "Please speak."

Kiryu Yaya leaned against the wall: "This morning, I ran into someone at a teahouse in Arashiyama, Kyoto, who might be the representative director and president of Fushimi Seiko Co., Ltd."

"He was on the phone at the time, and the conversation involved inventory transfers, falsified valuation reports, and applying for an extension of equipment loans from Mitsubishi Bank."

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone.

Kiryu Yaya continued, "I didn't see his business card, but his briefcase had 'Fushimi Seiko' printed on it. He was about fifty years old, wearing a gray suit, and of medium build. I wonder if your branch has any Fushimi Seiko equipment loan extension pending?"

Nishida did not respond immediately; the sound of papers turning over could be heard through the receiver.

After a few seconds, he spoke again, his voice now more serious: "Mr. Kiryu, the information you provided is extremely valuable to us. Fushimi Seiko does indeed have an equipment loan extension under review, the amount of which is..."

"One hundred and fifty million yen!"

Then, Nishida's voice lowered slightly: "This extension application was submitted last week and is currently in the initial review stage. Mr. Kiryu, thank you for providing this information. I will respond immediately and re-verify Fushimi Seiko's inventory and liabilities."

"You're welcome."

Kiryu Yaya's tone remained calm: "I was just doing what a bank employee should do. Cross-regional risk information sharing is simply part of internal risk management within a bank."

Nishida gave a soft "hmm" and then said, "Mr. Kiryu, would it be convenient to leave a contact method? I hope to contact you again if there is anything that needs to be confirmed during the verification process."

"Can."

Kiryu Yaya gave him the internal line number for his desk, adding, "However, I'm off today and will be back at the branch on Monday. If it's urgent, you can leave a message on this number, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible."

"Understood. Thank you again."

"You're too kind. That's settled then, Mr. Nishida."

"Okay, excuse me."

The phone hangs up.

Kiryu Yaya put the receiver back, leaned against the wall, and gently exhaled.

He glanced down at his watch.

11:20.

The call went more smoothly than he had expected.

Although Nishida was initially cautious, he reacted quickly after hearing the specific information, without making excuses or questioning anything.

This shows that the people in the financing department of the Kyoto branch are at least risk-aware.

The rest is up to them to investigate.

Kiryu Yaya returned to the table and sat down.

Kenta Sasaki immediately leaned closer and asked in a low voice, "How is it?"

"I called. The other party's name is Nishida, and he's from the financing department. Fushimi Seiko does indeed have a 150 million yen equipment loan extension pending review."

Kenta Sasaki's eyes widened slightly: "Really? What did you say?"

Arima Kishou adjusted his glasses and asked, "And their reaction?"

"I was a little cautious at first, but after listening, they said they would re-verify immediately."

Arima Kishou nodded and didn't ask any more questions.

Yayoi Mizuna sat quietly beside him, listening until Kiryu Yaya finished speaking, then she softly asked, "Senpai—is this alright?"

"That's good."

Kiryu Yaya looked at her: "We're not police officers, nor are we the National Tax Service. The duty of bank employees is to report risks promptly when they are discovered."

The rest can be handled by the people at the Kyoto branch.

Kenta Sasaki leaned back in his chair and suddenly joked, "Kiryu, you can't even take a break. You manage to run into a loan shark president while you're out having fun. Do you have some kind of special constitution?"

Kiryu Yaya picked up the cold brew tea, took a sip, and said lightly, "Perhaps."

He thought to himself, thankfully, "Detective Conan" was serialized in 1994, and the nickname "Death God Elementary School Student" had not yet become popular.

Otherwise, he might have had multiple similar titles.
