Chapter 165 The Battle of New York (Part 6)
This won't work; the upper limit of technology samples that can be recovered by relying solely on those individual flying vehicles and small Leviathans is insufficient.
The real value lies in the entire spaceship, including its anti-gravity propulsion system, space jump engine, and shipboard energy core.
These are the fundamental materials needed for Earth's space technology to truly take its first step.
Using reverse engineering to disassemble and study the material can save decades or even centuries compared to exploring it from scratch.
He withdrew his gaze, turned to Tony beside him, and spoke in a work-oriented tone: "How's the data analysis for my Devil Trigger transformation going? Is it feasible to survive in outer space?"
Tony paused for a moment, then almost reflexively asked, "How did you know I was analyzing that?"
He regretted it before he even said it.
He did indeed see Lee En activate his demon form the first time he saw him.
Jarvis then mobilized all available sensor arrays to perform a full-spectrum scan of the dark red armor's material, energy fluctuations, and surface protective force field.
But he never mentioned this to Li En.
But then I thought about it again, Jarvis is now working for both of them at the same time.
It's not surprising that Lee Eun knew about this.
"Stop with the nonsense and just tell me, based on the data you have, can I survive in outer space?"
Li En waved his hand casually, his tone showing no concern whatsoever about Tony secretly studying his strength.
In fact, he had been waiting for Tony's analysis for a long time; this was exactly the kind of thing that required Tony's professional judgment.
Tony shut his mouth.
He pulled up the full-spectrum scan data that Jarvis had recorded during the demon transformation, compared several key indicators one by one, and his brows slowly furrowed: "Your body can definitely survive in a vacuum environment. After demon transformation, your body surface has an extremely high-density energy protection layer that can block cosmic rays and extreme temperature changes of extreme heat and cold."
The problem is that this layer of protection is directly linked to your body's energy reserves; once the energy is depleted, it will disintegrate before the armor itself.
Based on the energy expenditure curve of your previous battle, you can only last about fifteen minutes in space at most.
When the time comes, no matter where the battle has progressed, you must retreat. There is no room for negotiation.
"Fifteen minutes." Li En chewed on the number in his mouth.
Is that enough? It's enough to intercept just one warship.
However, the time for the propeller to accelerate and brake must also be taken into account for the round trip.
He took his watch out of his pocket, glanced at it, quickly calculated a set of numbers in his head, and then looked up.
"Relying solely on thrusters to fly up there wouldn't be enough time."
Just as Tony was about to speak, Li En turned to the security camera at the entrance of the burger shop next door, which was half-bombed and tilted.
The camera was still running, and the red indicator light on the crooked bracket was flashing on and off.
The other end of the signal is connected to Jarvis's global communication network.
"Jarvis, connect all communication lines."
"You are now connected, Mr. Li En. Your channel will now cover all operating audio output devices worldwide."
This includes military radio stations, civilian broadcasting, mobile communication networks, and live internet streaming.
Jarvis's steady synthesized voice came from Li En's watch and simultaneously rang out from Tony's helmet's built-in speaker.
Li En stood at the entrance of the hamburger shop, his back to the shop window whose glass had been blown off.
He looked up at the camera that was still running, and his expression became extremely serious.
He spoke into the camera, his voice low, yet it traveled clearly to every device in the world receiving the signal.
"Ancient One, Earth needs your help."
"Hey, what's this guy saying? I can't believe I heard him right—is Li En asking a mage for help?"
Tony reached out and rubbed Steve's shoulder beside him, his armored fingers tapping the edge of the vibranium shield with a crisp, ringing sound, his tone full of disbelief.
He suspected that his helmet's audio receiver might have malfunctioned due to the blast from the Leviathan.
"You heard me right." Steve's brows furrowed even deeper than Tony's, his voice equally filled with confusion.
"Li En was indeed seeking help from a sorcerer named Ancient One through the surveillance cameras."
He didn't doubt the rationality of what Lee En did, but he really couldn't understand it.
If there are indeed mages more powerful than Li En on Earth, or some secret mage organization, why haven't they shown themselves yet?
The battle has escalated to this point, with the entire Manhattan area almost destroyed. Where were they before?
"I knew the world had completely gone mad."
Tony shook his head, and the expression beneath his visor underwent a rapid three-stage transformation from confusion to relief, and then to numbness.
For a scientist like him, standing at the pinnacle of Earth's technological pyramid, the very existence of magic was a blow to his entire worldview.
Fortunately, the bombings have been sustained for some time.
Hellish demons, Ghost Rider, Norse god of thunder.
His cognitive flexibility is much greater than before, and he is much faster at accepting new things.
Li En ignored the murmurs of the two people behind him.
He continued speaking into the camera, his tone calm and restrained: "Ancient One, I only need you to do me a small favor."
After saying this, he didn't explain further, but simply waved his hand, signaling Jarvis to cut off the video signal.
Tony waited until the red indicator light on the camera went out before flipping open the faceplate with a snap and walking up to Lee.
Pointing to the sky at the spatial rift from which the remnants of the Chitauri army were still falling, he asked in bewilderment, "Li En, are you sure you're not mistaken about something?"
We were just discussing two things: how to close that rift, and how to survive in outer space.
What's the point of you suddenly seeking help from this so-called mage?
Even if he could perform some magic tricks, what good would they do in this situation?
Chi Chi Chi.
A golden spark suddenly appeared in the air right in the middle of the street.
The spark didn't spring up from any flammable material; it just appeared out of thin air, about a person's height above the ground, as if something were burning a hole outward from the other side of space itself.
Sparks spun and spread outwards from the center, producing a series of dense and crisp popping sounds.
In a short while, a complete circle with a diameter of nearly two meters was burned out in the air.
Tiny golden sparks continued to burst outwards from the edge of the circle, and the space enclosed by the circle was no longer a street scene.
Inside the circle is a completely different space, where you can see wooden window frames, burning candlesticks, and rows of heavy books stacked on ancient bookshelves.
