Chapter 25 The Death of Ao Bing
"Father, please calm your anger."
Dragon Prince Ao Bing spoke up.
He was eight feet tall, clad in silver armor and a white robe, with a handsome face, yet his brows held a hint of arrogance. Dragon energy surged around him, and his cultivation had reached the Earth Immortal realm.
He stopped in front of Ao Guang and bowed respectfully:
"Why should Father King personally go to deal with a mere brat? I will go and capture that madman to complete the immortals' mission."
Ao Guang looked at his most beloved son, pondered for a moment, and nodded.
"Very well, this child has been tricked by the immortals. We must be careful, bring more soldiers, and return quickly."
Ao Bing immediately dispatched a team of dragon soldiers, who rode on the water-controlling divine beast, wielding long halberds, and charged straight out of the Crystal Palace.
As the water parted and the waves broke, towering waves suddenly surged up on the sea surface.
At the mouth of the Jiuwan River, the originally calm water suddenly rose several feet, and the river water overflowed, submerging large areas of reeds on both banks. The fish and shrimp in the river were so frightened by the dragon's might that they floated to the surface with their white bellies up, forming a dense layer.
Nezha stood up, staring wide-eyed at the surging water.
"So much water! So much water!"
Amidst the waves, a water beast emerged from the surging waters.
The water beast resembled a Qilin, its entire body dark green, standing on its four hooves on the water, spewing out two streams of white mist from its mouth. Seated atop the beast's back was a divine general, clad in silver armor and a white robe, wielding a long halberd with a painted handle, his body surging with dragon energy and exuding a murderous aura.
It was Ao Bing.
"Who dared to kill my patrolling sea demon, Li Gen?!"
Ao Bing pointed his long halberd, his voice like thunder.
Nezha stood on the rock, his Hun Tian Ling slowly unfurling on the water behind him, like a crimson cloak.
"it's me."
Ao Bing's gaze was like a knife, fixed intently on Nezha:
Who are you?
"I am Nezha, the third son of Li Jing, the general of Chentang Pass."
Nezha puffed out his chest, his tone calm:
"My father guards this place, and I was here to escape the summer heat and bathe. I had nothing to do with that demon. He insulted me without cause and then tried to attack me with an axe, so I killed him. What do you want?"
Ao Bing was furious.
"What a wild and unruly child!"
He paused with his halberd, forcing the water beast to approach on the waves:
"The Yaksha is a registered divine official of the Heavenly King's Palace! You have dared to commit the audacity of killing a Heavenly official, and you still dare to act unreasonably and speak recklessly here!"
Having said that, he thrust his halberd forward.
The halberd cut through the wind, and the air distorted slightly where the tip passed.
He held the Nezha Universe Ring in his left hand, the Hun Tian Ling (a magical ribbon) floating behind him. Seeing the fierce momentum of the halberd, he didn't try to block it head-on, but instead dodged to the side and parried with his hand:
"Stop for now!"
He stared at Ao Bing, his expression arrogant:
"State your name, and I won't let nameless ghosts die."
Ao Bing sheathed his halberd and sneered:
"I am Ao Bing, the third prince of the East Sea Dragon King. You naughty child, with death imminent, what reason do you have to argue?"
Nezha said "Oh" and tilted his head to think for a moment.
Then he chuckled.
"So you're the son of Old Mudfish Ao Guang."
He curled his lip and said nonchalantly:
"Such arrogance! If you truly anger me, I'll capture your old mudfish father along with him and skin him alive!"
Ao Bing's handsome face instantly turned purplish-red.
"I'm so angry!"
He roared, his long hair stood on end, and his magical power erupted like flames:
"Ignorant brat! How rude and insolent!"
He thrust his halberd forward again.
This time, the halberd was infused with all its magical power. The tip of the halberd pierced the air with a silvery arc of light. Wherever it passed, the river surface was cleaved open into a ravine three zhang wide, with the water walls on both sides rising high like walls, unable to close for a long time.
Nezha leaped into the air, his Hun Tian Ling unfurling around him like a serpent.
A seven-foot-long red ribbon unfurled in mid-air, its crimson light covering the sky and earth.
The red ribbon transformed into thousands of fireballs, each as blazing as the sun, turning the entire river surface crimson.
The Hun Tian Ling rolled downwards, like a net covering the sky and the earth.
Ao Bing felt a crimson glow before his eyes, and his dragon energy was firmly bound by the red light, unable to be mobilized at all. The water-controlling divine beast let out a terrified screech, its four hooves kicking wildly, trying to retreat, but it was engulfed by the red light and could not move.
"receive!"
Nezha gave a soft shout.
The Hun Tian Ling tightened abruptly, and Ao Bing, halberd and all, was dragged off the back of the water-forcing beast. His silver armor clattered against the riverbank pebbles.
Nezha strode forward and stepped on Ao Bing's neck.
Ao Bing's vision went black from being trampled, and he gurgled in his throat as he struggled desperately. He grabbed Nezha's ankles with both hands, trying to pry them open, but the feet seemed to be rooted to the spot and wouldn't budge.
Nezha raised his right hand, and the Qiankun Ring spun rapidly in his palm, its golden light growing ever brighter.
"You little mudskipper, aren't you going to hold me accountable?"
A beam of red light suddenly shot into Nezha's brow, giving his voice a mix of childlike innocence and innate killing intent.
"Who is being trampled underfoot now?"
The Qiankun Ring descended, striking Ao Bing squarely on the top of his head.
The blow was powerful and heavy. Ao Bing's whole body trembled violently, his eyes widened, and then gradually became unfocused. His lips moved slightly, and wisps of silvery-white dragon energy dissipated from his body.
His body began to change.
The limbs receded, the torso lengthened, and silvery-white scales emerged from under the skin.
In a short while, the dignified Third Prince of the East Sea Dragon revealed his true dragon form.
A silver-white dragon, several meters long, with hook-like claws and mirror-like scales, lay stiffly dead on the ground, devoid of any life.
Nezha's eyes turned red, revealing a fierce and ruthless intent to skin and dismember.
Yun Zhongzi descended from the clouds and landed on the city wall of Chentang Pass.
He had just killed a nest of demons thirty miles outside the pass when he suddenly sensed a sinister aura rising into the sky from the direction of the Nine Bends River.
The aura was extremely faint, vanishing in an instant. Had his divine sense not been far more acute than that of other Golden Immortals of the same level, he would have been almost unable to detect it. He wanted to stop it, but it was too late. The aura streaked across the sky like a shooting star and disappeared into a spot on the banks of the Nine Bends River.
Yun Zhongzi frowned and rode up on a cloud.
Jiuwan River.
On the pebble beach by the river, a silver-white horned dragon, several meters long, lay stiffly on the ground.
The dragon's eyes were wide open, its mouth slightly agape, and its silvery-white scales gleamed coldly in the sunlight. On the top of its head, a fist-sized dent was deep enough to expose the bone, and dragon blood mixed with brain matter gushed from the wound, staining a patch of gravel.
Nezha stood beside the dragon's corpse, holding a dragon tendon that had just been pulled out.
The dragon tendon was entirely silver-white, over ten feet long, and trembled slightly in his hand, stained with dripping blood, its eyes gleaming with a faint red light.
Yun Zhongzi landed on the riverbank. He first glanced at the dragon corpse. It was a horned dragon of the Earth Immortal Realm with silver-white scales. It must be a dragon from the East Sea.
He glanced again at the red light in Nezha's eyes. The red light was slowly fading away, leaving very little, but it still stubbornly flickered deep in his eyes.
Unorthodox and deceptive practices.
No wonder that unorthodox aura was so subtle. If he hadn't been so mentally tense in recent years, constantly spreading his divine sense, he wouldn't have been able to detect it at all.
The person who committed the act was extremely skilled, and the method was so subtle that even a Taiyi Xuanxian would find it difficult to detect if he was careless.
Nezha.
His voice wasn't loud, but it was like a sudden, sharp rebuke.
Nezha trembled, and the last stubborn red light in his eyes completely dissipated.
He raised his head, looked at Yun Zhongzi, then looked down at the dragon tendon in his hand, and then at the straight, silvery-white dragon corpse on the ground. His lips trembled slightly.
"Master, your disciple..."
He knelt down with a thud, his voice trembling: "This disciple did not intend to kill him."
