37. Sin Value Determination

The atmosphere in the cell became somewhat unpleasant because of the conversation between Jiang Chen and Cat Master.

But they shared a common goal: to become sorcerers. So Jiang Chen immediately calmed himself down and thought about how to solve the current predicament.

Considering the energy fluctuations from the blood curse the sorcerer just used, the answer is almost obvious.

I say "almost" because I doubt the purpose and target; a conservative estimate is that there are at least twenty or thirty people.

Check them one by one?

A few dozen people isn't a huge number.

However, checking and verifying identities one by one still requires a certain amount of time and effort.

Jiang Chen didn't want to wait; delay might lead to unforeseen changes.

Every extra second the sorcerer has to prepare, the more vicious curses he can cast, and the less likely our side is to win.

We must act swiftly and decisively, eliminating him completely before he can react.

"Since you've already decided that you're in Zone C, and you've been stuck here for three years, you still haven't been able to find him."

The cat, who was squatting to the side, flicked its tail and turned its emerald green eyes toward Attorney Luo, throwing out a question that hit the nail on the head.

"Didn't you always say that your eyes could see the value of sin?"

Attorney Luo gave a wry smile, took out a spare pair of sunglasses from his pocket and put them on, the lenses obscuring the helplessness in his eyes.

"My ability is not radar scanning. Even if it were radar scanning, the other party could still use optical invisibility."

Attorney Luo gave a brief explanation so that Master Cat could have a more intuitive understanding of his abilities.

"Actually, my ability is more like a rigorous legal procedure. If I want to see the degree of a person's guilt, I must first conduct an investigation and collect evidence. Only with a chain of evidence, including physical evidence and witness testimony, can a conviction be made."

"For example, if an entrepreneur who has always been enthusiastic about charity covers up his son's crime once, can you conclude that all his previous good deeds were fake and that he is essentially a heinous criminal?"

"Can we conclude that a utterly wicked scoundrel is a good person just because, perhaps, he might show a moment of kindness to a stray cat on the street?"

Cat Master's expression was slightly displeased. "You can give examples if you want, but why are you using me as an example?"

"And do evil people really believe they are doing bad things?"

This was a philosophical question, and Jiang Chen gave it serious thought.

I believe that more than 70-80% of evil people do not think that doing evil is wrong, because human nature is to be harsh on others and lenient on oneself, and will not really be strict with oneself.

They will only think that others are wrong, that the world is wrong, and that they have driven themselves to a dead end.

"The human heart is the most complex and contradictory thing in the world."

This huge contradiction between subjective perception and objective facts makes the display of guilt value extremely rigorous, or rather, harsh.

To help Jiang Chen understand more intuitively, Attorney Luo turned to Jiang Chen's direction.

"Just like you were on that cargo ship, where you personally ended more than twenty lives."

He stared at Jiang Chen through his sunglasses, his gaze carrying a hint of scrutiny.

Do you think that's a sinful thing?

Jiang Chen did not waver in the slightest, nor did he hesitate, and answered with certainty.

"Although my actions are illegal, I have a clear conscience. Even if it happened again, I would still kill without hesitation."

"What do you think, Cat Master?"

The cat said that it is just a cat and has no opinion on what humans do.

Therefore, Cat Master's position is neutral, and Attorney Luo's position is also very clear.

"I don't think it's evil either, because the three of us are in complete agreement on this point. So in my eyes, your sin value is not only zero, but even..."

He paused, then uttered a conclusion that surprised even Jiang Chen.

"It's a negative number."

When Attorney Luo reached this conclusion, Jiang Chen had a flash of inspiration and instantly found the core mechanism in Attorney Luo's words.

"Therefore, your ability can only truly come into play after the judgment of sin value has been completed."

Jiang Chen's voice was not loud, but it hit the nail on the head.

"Once you have made a judgment on the other party and confirmed their guilt, you can cause real and effective harm to them, or even... double the harm, or like a red name lock in a game, making them nowhere to hide."

Attorney Luo looked a little unnatural for a moment, but quickly recovered.

Even so, he could not hide his surprise. This young man, who had only recently entered the world of the extraordinary, possessed a sharpness and penetrating insight into his thinking that far exceeded his expectations.

"I can only say that your line of thinking is correct, although some details are not entirely accurate."

Attorney Luo readily admitted it, but then changed the subject, and his gaze behind his glasses seemed to deepen.

"Although we are currently allies in the same camp, I will not tell you all my abilities and trump cards."

Jiang Chen nodded. He understood that one should always be wary of others.

The two of them thus reached a silent understanding.

With the topic of sin value brought to a close, Jiang Chen's gaze fell on the shadow behind Attorney Luo.

"What exactly is that little girl who can turn into a death scythe? Is she a ghost, or some kind of special spirit?"

Upon hearing this, Attorney Luo looked puzzled. Instead of answering directly, he turned to Cat Master in the corner.

"Isn't he an Awakened One? Cat Master, you didn't even tell him this most basic supernatural common sense?"

Cat yawned and said lazily.

"He never even touched the threshold of awakening before he died, so he was naturally not an awakened one. He entered this world through visualization diagrams, so theoretically speaking, he was a proper practitioner."

A practitioner!

Upon hearing these three words, the confusion on Attorney Luo's face turned into shock.

If you don't even understand basic common sense, what do you call that? An amateur.

Even wilder than him, a wild awakener, that's what I call unorthodox.

Although he didn't quite understand why Master Cat hadn't seriously taught Jiang Chen, Attorney Luo was also aware of his own situation and smiled self-deprecatingly.

"I'm just a wild awakener, and I've been in prison the whole time. There are many things I only have a superficial understanding of, so what I say may not be accurate. Don't mislead others."

The implication is that you should ask Cat Master.

But Cat Master yawned and turned his head away, avoiding eye contact with Jiang Chen. Clearly, he had no intention of giving Jiang Chen a lesson, so the issue had to be put aside for the time being.

Since Attorney Luo couldn't see through it directly, and conventional investigations were too slow...

Therefore, we have no choice but to use unconventional methods.

A cold glint flashed in Jiang Chen's eyes, and a crazy idea quickly took shape in his mind.
