Chapter 108 Wilderness Chase (Please Subscribe)

Lin Jingchu seemed oblivious, continuing to chat with the two cultivators for a few more minutes before bowing and bidding them farewell.

Instead of returning the way he came, he strolled deeper into the potato field, quickly passing through this relatively vibrant area and arriving at the depths of the valley.

There was a sheer cliff ahead, with no way forward.

Lin Jingchu looked around to make sure there was no one else in sight. With a thought, he activated the "Thousand Waves Chasing the Current" skill, a reward from the system.

The next moment, in this desolate place, his figure suddenly blurred and exploded into a wave.

Almost simultaneously, water splashed out on a protruding rock on a steep cliff dozens of feet above, and Lin Jingchu's figure solidified.

"Great! My system is still the best!" Lin Jingchu thought excitedly. He stood on high ground, looking down at the valley and villages below.

From the potato fields, the entire village layout can be seen.

Inside the stone house on the east side of the valley, Song Yu, who was practicing sword moves, heard the sound of the door opening and immediately sheathed his sword to be on guard. He only breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that it was Lin Jingchu returning.

"Senior sister, I have obtained the necessary information. Let's leave immediately," Lin Jingchu said succinctly.

Without hesitation, Song Yu nodded and said, "Okay."

Having nothing of value, Lin Jingchu summoned back the Tianjing Ants guarding the shadows, and then he and Song Yu pushed open the door and headed straight for the valley entrance.

Based on the bone fragment token given by the Second Elder, the guards, though surprised, did not obstruct the process after verifying that it was correct.

The heavy hardwood door creaked open a crack once more. The two figures vanished in a flash into the eternally gloomy blue wilderness beyond.

Just as Lin Jingchu and Song Yu disappeared into the perilous wilderness, a guard who was on duty on the city wall quickly left his post and ran to the largest wooden house in the center of the village.

Inside the room, Baron was bowing to the First Elder, reporting that Lin Jingchu had privately spoken with the Second Elder at the battle platform.

The Grand Elder was reclining in a large master's chair covered with the fur of wild beasts. At his feet lay a huge gray wolf, as big as a calf, with a thick chain around its neck.

The gray wolf raised its head, its eerie green eyes gleaming with a greedy and cold light, staring intently at Baron, a low growl escaping its throat.

Baron trembled under that gaze, and even his voice trembled almost imperceptibly.

The Grand Elder was quite pleased with his subordinate's terrified expression. It was worthwhile for him to have risked his life years ago to venture into a monster's lair, seize the wolf cub, and raise it with great care. Back then, the lair contained five adult level-one mid-tier monster wolves, costing him several of his most capable men.

He was idly stroking the giant wolf's soft fur when a city wall guard burst through the gate and urgently reported, "Elder, Chief Baron, those two outside cultivators have left the village with the Second Elder's warrant."

The elder, whose eyes had been slightly closed, suddenly opened them and sat up abruptly from his languid, forward-leaning posture. He tapped his fingers on the wooden chair armrest, making a clear, resonant sound in the quiet room.

A moment later, he suddenly stood up, the chains rattling, and the gray giant wolf also stood up, its eyes gleaming even more fiercely.

"Hmph, you're asking for it. Do you still think this is the outside world? It's fine if you don't know what's good for you, but I'm going to take those two swords."

The elder yanked the chain sharply, and the gray giant wolf growled and obediently followed beside him.

"Have the commanders of the first and second teams meet at the village entrance immediately. Baron, you also take your weapons and come with me out of the village."

The guard responded and hurried away. When he arrived at the village entrance with two burly men carrying longbows and bone knives, the elder was already there with the gray-haired giant wolf and Baron, waiting for him.

The elder raised his head to Balon in acknowledgment.

Baron then shakily lifted a roll of fur and held it under the giant wolf's nose. This item was taken from the stone chamber where Lin Jingchu and the other man were temporarily staying.

The giant wolf twitched its nostrils, then raised its head and let out a long howl.

"Go!" The elder flicked the iron chain, and the giant wolf transformed into a gray whirlwind, leading him out of the gate.

Baron and the two burly men hurriedly followed, and the four figures and a giant gray wolf quickly disappeared into the dark blue sky outside the door.

A young guard watched them disappear behind the rubble and muttered, "In another hour or two, the cold wind will probably pick up again. Where are the elders going?"

An older guard nearby yawned and said lazily, "Who knows? Don't pry into the elders' affairs."

No sooner had he finished speaking than several sharp, short screams suddenly echoed from the depths of the village, particularly jarring in the silent valley.

The young guard's expression changed: "I'll go see what's going on!"

A moment later, he ran back, his face pale, his voice trembling, and said, "It's those eleven men from Baron's team who went hunting earlier. Something bit through their throats, and blood is everywhere!"

On the wilderness, Lin Jingchu and Song Yu were moving quickly. However, instead of heading northeast, they turned west.

This direction not only leads to another human village mentioned by the Second Elder, but also to a place that produces a special type of stone. The array plate in the village that activates the Yinming Beast Crystal is made from this stone.

The two moved swiftly, traversing jagged rocks and barren hills. Suddenly, a sharp whooshing sound came from behind!

Lin Jingchu's heart tightened, and he only had time to pull Song Yu behind him and turn around to take the hit with his chest.

Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!

Four hard bone arrows slammed into his chest.

Fortunately, Lin Jingchu was wearing the top-tier magic weapon "Mysterious Feather Silver Scale Armor" as an inner layer, so although the arrow was extremely powerful, it could not penetrate it.

However, one of the bone arrows contained an exceptionally terrifying force. With a muffled thud, Lin Jingchu was sent flying backward by the force of the impact.

He spun in mid-air to dissipate the force, landing back on the ground, his gaze coldly fixed on the direction from which the bone arrow had been shot.

Just a few dozen feet away, the Grand Elder, Balon, and two burly men whom they had never seen before were seen carrying longbows and striding after them.

"You even have top-grade inner armor protecting you." The elder's eyes gleamed with greed and ferocity as he grinned and said, "Hehehe, hand over your inner armor and sword, and I'll spare your lives."

Lin Jingchu looked at the four people ten feet away and slowly raised the Dragon Scale Sword in his hand: "If you can defeat me, the armor and sword are naturally yours. Don't say that I, a cultivator, am bullying you mortals. Come at me all at once."

"Arrogant!" The Grand Elder was furious. "Very well! You've been stranded in this desolate place, yet you still dare to put on airs like an immortal. I'll chop you into pieces!"

He threw down his longbow and drew a pale white bone sword from behind his back.

Baron and the other two hunting party leaders also drew their bone knives and swords, slowly approaching in a fan shape to block Lin Jingchu and Song Yu's retreat.

"Kill!" the elder roared, the rocks beneath his feet cracked, and he shot towards Lin Jingchu like an arrow released from a bow.

The bone sword in his hand hissed, carrying a fierce and murderous aura, as it pierced straight for Lin Jingchu's heart.

What's even more astonishing is that, as he thrust forward, the tip of the bone sword emitted a sharp, grayish-white aura about a foot long.

This old man actually entered the Dao through martial arts and cultivated a sword aura that was released from outside the body, similar to sword energy!

At the same time, not far behind Lin Jingchu and his companion, a gray giant wolf silently pounced out from the shadow of a boulder about half a person's height.

Caught in a pincer movement, danger descended in an instant.
