Huayu: I Have a Doraemon
Chapter 111 Animation Exhibition
Chapter 111 Animation Exhibition
The hotel where Lin An was staying was not far from the TV station.
The moment he stepped into the room, his phone vibrated, and Ji Tao's name flashed wildly on the screen.
"Are you serious? You really plan to buy up the whole area around here?"
On the other end of the phone, Ji Tao couldn't help but say, "Film and television companies need a lot of cash flow. There are countless examples in the industry of a company collapsing because of a single failed project. Your little bit of money can't withstand this kind of spending."
Lin An closed the door, casually draped his coat over the coat rack in the entryway, and then slumped onto the sofa, sinking into the soft cushions.
He yawned and said, "I know what I'm doing. Just do it. It's okay to pay you more."
Ji Tao was speechless for a moment. After thinking it over, he agreed, but said, "I'm only responsible for negotiating. I don't care what you use it for."
"How much of a criminal do I look to you?" Lin An thought to himself, switching his phone to his left hand and grabbing a thin blanket with his right, haphazardly covering himself with it.
"You just go and talk, I'll handle the rest."
He reassured her, "After the deal is done, I'll give you a cash rebate based on the land area."
Ji Tao wasn't very interested, but he still agreed.
After hanging up the phone, Lin An tossed it onto the coffee table, stared at the ceiling, and let out a deep breath.
You look very tired.
A round, blue head peeked out from behind the sofa and asked curiously, "Didn't you say everything went smoothly?"
Lin An glanced at him, then said indifferently, "You're only busy when things are going well, okay? If you were a complete failure, who would want to bother with you?"
"Why do you always say things like that?"
Doraemon frowned, then quickly relaxed, took out his phone from his pocket, and said, "My aunt and uncle called and said your program is very interesting and they like it very much."
"It's so embarrassing..." Lin An's lips curled slightly as he asked, "Where are the second and third brothers?"
"Lin Yi didn't say anything, he just told you to pay back the money as soon as possible."
Doraemon felt a little embarrassed, so he smiled and added, "But Lin Meng said she misses you and hopes you can pick her up and come to Shanghai. She wants to visit you."
Want to play with me? I think she's just greedy. Lin An didn't want to talk to this stupid and gluttonous younger sister, nor did he want to talk to Lin Yi.
If you borrowed it through your own ability, why should you pay it back?
There's no need for such formality between siblings!
Lin An turned over, buried his face in the cushion, and said in a muffled voice, "If there's nothing else, I'm going to sleep."
Doraemon thought for a moment, then continued, "That online friend named 'Hyacinth' contacted you."
Lin An, without looking up, asked, "What did you say?"
Doraemon scratched his head and chuckled sheepishly, "There were too many words, I forgot them."
Lin An looked at him speechlessly.
Doraemon lowered his head guiltily and muttered softly, "I didn't look carefully... It's immoral to pry into other people's privacy..."
He Yuwen responded and casually pulled over a folding chair to sit down.
Tang Yu sat down next to him, his buttocks only touching half of the chair surface, his back ramrod straight.
Chang Guangxi finished flipping through the last page of the drawing, looked up, and gazed past He Yuwen onto Tang Yu.
"You're Tang Yu?"
"Yes." Tang Yu's voice was a little tense.
Chang Guangxi looked him up and down and nodded slightly: "Old He mentioned you to me, saying that you have a solid foundation, but you are a bit too impatient."
Tang Yu subconsciously wanted to say something arrogant, but He Yuwen glared at him and shut him up.
Chang Guangxi ignored the little commotion between the master and apprentice and handed over the drawing in his hand.
"These are the storyboard drafts Lin An drew before, take a look."
Tang Yu took the drawing and opened it with his head down.
The first page depicts a scene where a leopard confronts a Tigress on a suspension bridge.
With simple lines, the expressions and movements of the two characters are clearly depicted in just a few strokes.
"This was painted by Lin An?" Tang Yu asked incredulously.
Chang Guangxi nodded slightly and asked curiously, "Don't you know how good he is at drawing? Old He said you two are on good terms."
"Who says he's on good terms with me!" Tang Yu said with a look of disdain and a dismissive tone, "So-so, he asked me to do a few things for him before."
He emphasized the pronunciation of the word "求" to indicate the primary and secondary importance of the relationship.
Chang Guangxi understood, and gave He Yuwen a strange look. He noticed that his former colleague had looked away first, and thus he had discerned something.
He smiled and said, "It's enough that we have a relationship. I was worried that you two weren't familiar with each other and might have some conflicts along the way."
Meow meow meow? Tang Yuyuan's face was full of confusion: "What do you mean?"
Chang Guangxi was taken aback and asked in confusion, "Didn't Lao He tell you? We're going to the New York Animation & Design Expo in two weeks, for three days."
Tang Yu's mouth gaped open, and he suddenly looked at He Yuwen, his voice cracking as he said, "Didn't you say you were just here to discuss the project?"
He Yuwen said calmly, "It's about discussing projects. Going to the US to discuss them is still discussing projects, isn't it?"
Tang Yu's expression was stiff, and he remained motionless like a statue.
Ignoring Tang Yu, He Yuwen turned to Chang Guangxi and said, "You haven't told Lin An about this yet, have you?"
Chang Guangxi nodded. "No, but the invitation has already been sent, so he should know."
"It would be better to call and remind them," He Yuwen said.
Chang Guangxi thought about it and agreed. "It's too late today, let's try tomorrow. I hope he won't refuse."
Tang Yu thought to himself that he must refuse.
New York, USA.
The lights were still on in the attic on the second floor of the gray-white house.
The girl sat cross-legged on the carpet, with an open suitcase in front of her, filled with clothes, socks, and comic books.
She was clutching the huge carrot pillow in her hand, stuffing it into the box with great effort.
It won't fit.
Stuff it again.
It still won't fit.
The girl's face turned red with anger. She pulled the carrot pillow out of the box, threw it on the carpet, picked it up again, changed the angle, and continued to shove it into the box.
The suitcase groaned, its zipper taut and ready to burst at any moment.
"Damn you, you bastard!"
She pressed down hard while muttering under her breath, her voice urgent and angry: "They didn't reply to my messages! They didn't pay me! They broke their promise!"
The suitcase didn't budge.
The girl gasped for breath, hands on her hips, glaring at the round carrot pillow as if it were her mortal enemy: "I knew I shouldn't have bought you a present! You're so infuriating!"
