The Magical Food God of Hogwarts
Chapter 111 You're such a pervert!
Chapter 111 You're such a pervert!
Lucas was stunned.
He had read many books, which described centaurs from a human perspective as an impolite and savage race, possessing an inexplicable arrogance, disdaining to associate with humans, and arrogantly refusing to be classified as "human" in magical society, preferring to remain in the realm of "beasts." Approaching centaurs rashly was dangerous.
On the other hand, Dumbledore taught him to abandon his arrogance and regard humanity as a part of nature, treating all intelligent races equally.
Centaurs are the oldest of all intelligent races.
They are arrogant, but this arrogance is not without reason. Their request to be classified as "beasts" is simply because they are unwilling to share the identity of "human" with the much-criticized banshees and vampires, or rather, they are ashamed to be associated with those dark creatures.
Their lack of interaction with humans is less a matter of "disdain" and more a matter of "indifference." They are indifferent to the changes in the human world and to the affairs of wizards, because they believe that their own eyes have already seen through the deepest mystery of the world—destiny.
Human beings, and indeed themselves, are but a speck of dust in the entire world and the entire universe.
Horsemen are skilled runners, possessing astonishing strength and stamina, as well as highly developed intelligence and magical abilities. They are renowned archery masters, astrologers, and herbal healers.
The centaurs spend their lives following and observing the stars. They either observe the movement of the stars directly or burn herbs and leaves, using the smoke and flames to help interpret celestial phenomena.
The centaurs gleaned glimpses of destiny and deduced major events by observing the evolution of celestial phenomena and the movement of star orbits. They firmly believed that the stars foretold the future, that destiny was predetermined and absolutely unchangeable, or rather, fundamentally impossible to alter. They could only make good use of the revealed destiny, but could not change or interfere with it.
Therefore, most of the time, despite possessing such abilities, centaurs are calm and detached observers, never playing the role of interferer or arbitrator.
Lucas had always held the centaurs in high regard, but now that they were directly labeling Thea as a jinx, and considering that he himself was being defined as "not of this world," Lucas couldn't help but feel annoyed.
Thea's voice trembled as she continued, "Because I'm still a pony, they didn't kick me out right away, but nobody likes me. Especially after my mother died in an accident... they all say I killed her."
Lucas said in a deep voice, "Nonsense! No one is more grief-stricken about your mother's death than you and your father. What right do they have to say that!"
Pepper flew down and landed on a branch, yelling a string of profanities.
Thea just shook her head, tears streaming down her face.
"My father... he was always different from everyone else. He believed that we should be more friendly to humans and more actively enter the wizarding world so that we could fight for our rights when the time was right. In the eyes of the tribe, this view was heretical and unorthodox."
"After I was born, he advocated for actively dealing with unfavorable omens of fate, and even actively fighting against them, all for my sake."
He argued with everyone in the tribe to protect me, so now he's been ostracized, and we're having a tough time in the tribe.
Lucas finally understood.
Now I understand why Thea was timid and weak, why she, who should have been a protected figure by the centaur tribe, got lost deep in the Forbidden Forest that night, and was nearly killed by a giant. And why, in such danger, only Ferenze was anxiously searching for her...
It seems the entire centaur tribe's attitude towards Thea was to let her fend for herself, without providing her with the protection she deserved!
"They say that anyone who gets close to me will suffer misfortune." Thea looked at Lucas with teary eyes. "You...you and Ellie encountered Cerberus and almost died, maybe...it was because of me..."
""
"So Lucas, please don't come looking for me anymore... okay?"
Lucas's heart clenched. He shook his head, took the handkerchief that Thea had just handed him from her clenched hand, and gently wiped away her tears.
Thea stared at him blankly, her eyes filled with even more tears.
"Thea," Lucas looked intently into her eyes, "Have you heard how the centaur tribe views me?"
Thea was extremely surprised, and she tried hard to hold back her tears: "You... what's wrong?"
It seems that Fizeren didn't tell her.
"If there are stars that foretell that you will bring disaster to them, then there is no star in the night sky that indicates my destiny, no star trails that show my fate, only a blank space."
"I am a person who does not exist in this world." Lucas smiled. "So, I'm even worse off than you. Centaurs don't even want to associate with someone like me who has no stars... Now that you know, are you afraid of me too?"
Thea was stunned for a moment. She shook her head vigorously, even wagging her tail.
"No! How could this be!" she cried out in a panic. "Lucas, you saved my life! I'll never forget what you said to me that night, or the way you stabbed the troll..."
Lucas nodded, and he reached out and gently took Thea's cold fingers in his hand.
"Yes, do you remember that day I told you your name, Thea?"
"That is the goddess of light, the mother of the sun, the moon, and the dawn."
"She will protect you, the sun, the moon, and the dawn's light... As long as you are in her light, you will receive her protection. You are favored by the stars, not the jinx they say you are. Do you understand?"
Thea stared at him, murmuring her name. Sunlight streamed through the trees, bathing her in warmth.
"If that's not enough," Lucas said, holding her hand firmly, "I'm here."
"I am a person without a destiny star; my fate is solely in my own hands! Therefore, I, a person without a star, can disrupt the entire sky and alter the trajectories of all the stars!"
"I will change your destiny! I will change those so-called destined misfortunes!"
"Just like I saved you once! No matter how many times you need me, I'll be there. Together, we'll rewrite every ending!"
Under the bright sunlight, the boy's red hair shone like fire, deeply etched in Thea's eyes.
She suddenly grasped Lucas's hand in return, her voice extremely low, as if she were weeping.
"Lucas, perhaps the goddess Thea truly is protecting me... because she sent you to my side..."
'
Lucas's heart pounded as he gazed at Thea, whose fair and delicate cheeks flushed crimson, and whose clear, sapphire-like eyes were also fixed on him.
Lucas suddenly felt his throat was very dry, and his mind went blank—
"Hey, I'm telling you," Pepper suddenly spoke up, "Whether you two are planning to kiss or what, you'd better hurry up, there's a big guy walking by with a dog."
Although Lucas didn't care about Hagrid's arrival, a shy Thea hurriedly ran away. Lucas only had time to make a promise with her to meet again next Sunday morning, when he and Ellie would come to find her.
Thea's figure disappeared into the woods. Lucas was watching her intently when the howling of the hounds completely pulled him from his reverie.
"Hey, you—Lucas?" Hagrid's shout changed tone. "What are you doing here?"
"Good morning, Hagrid!" Lucas waved. "I couldn't sleep this morning, so I brought some food for a picnic."
"A picnic?" Hagrid stared in surprise at the picnic blanket spread out on the ground, along with the leftover honey apple slices and butter shortbread.
Salt-baked pine nuts.
Are they really having a picnic? But who would have a picnic so early in the morning?
The delicious food was still emitting an enticing aroma. Big Tooth barked excitedly and pounced on it, grabbing a plate of butter shortbread and munching away.
Hagrid yanked it back: "Tooth! How could you do this! Didn't I feed you rock cakes?"
Toothy whimpered pitifully, showing him its yellow teeth, then wagged its tail and pleaded with Lucas. Lucas then poured the rest of the shortbread and apple slices into its mouth.
Lucas laughed as he watched its tail wag like a windmill.
"Hagrid, it seems it doesn't like your rock crust. Hmm, I think it's saying it can't chew it."
"How could that be? That's my specialty dessert, and Harry said it was delicious," Hagrid said, annoyed. "Well, Lucas, perhaps you could teach me how to make rock cakes even better."
He became serious again: "Lucas, you're not allowed to come to the Forbidden Forest again! No student is allowed to enter the Forbidden Forest without a professor or me accompanying them, especially a first-year student like you, it's too dangerous."
"The Forbidden Forest is vast, with many areas untouched by humans, and is home to many formidable and mysterious creatures. Be careful not to get dragged in and never be found again."
Lucas pointed around: "But this is only the edge of the Forbidden Forest."
"Even the edges won't do!" Hagrid shouted. "Don't think I don't know what you're up to. I've had enough of those twins these past two years."
"You little rascals, you were always teetering on the edge at first, and then you ended up inside before we knew it!"
Lucas nodded. "Alright, I'll be careful. But Hagrid, the Forbidden Forest is so vast, how can you patrol it all by yourself?"
Hagrid grunted, "You've got it wrong, Lucas. My patrol also went around the edge of the Forbidden Forest, and only along the line that borders the castle."
"One reason is to prevent mischievous students from entering, but the most important reason is to prevent dangerous animals from escaping from the Forbidden Forest. Once I discover such traces, I will immediately report it to Professor Dumbledore."
When talking about working for Dumbledore, Hagrid puffed out his chest with pride, his face beaming.
"In rare circumstances, I will venture into the Forbidden Forest. For example, if something unusual happens in the Forbidden Forest, I will go in to investigate on Professor Dumbledore's orders; or if the intelligent creature tribes in the Forbidden Forest need Hogwarts' help, I will go to assist them on Professor Dumbledore's orders. Also, when it is necessary to collect various magical materials from the Forbidden Forest."
"You went into the Forbidden Forest to gather materials on Professor Dumbledore's orders, right?" Lucas laughed.
Hagrid scratched his messy hair: "It's not just me. Basically, once a year, I act as a guide, leading the professors into the Forbidden Forest to conduct legal hunting and material collection."
"Hunting?" Lucas's interest was piqued. "Hunting magical creatures?"
Hagrid nodded, hesitated for a while, his eyebrows furrowing together: "Yes, although I am also very reluctant to part with those little cuties, this is also a social responsibility that Hogwarts needs to bear."
"You know, things like eliminating harmful organisms, maintaining ecological balance, upholding secrecy laws, and providing magical materials for the magical world."
"The Forbidden Forest is Hogwarts' hunting grounds. So my job is the game keeper and key custodian of Hogwarts."
"What time is it, Hagrid?"
"Oh, usually it's next month, in October every year. Because it starts snowing in November." He sighed with heartache, "Sigh, I really don't want it to be like this..."
'
"Can I come and see, Hagrid?" Lucas asked, his eyes brimming with excitement.
Hagrid snapped back to reality: "No! Students are absolutely forbidden from participating! And I already said, students aren't allowed into the Forbidden Forest!"
"Okay, okay," Lucas said. "I was just saying. So what kinds of animals do you mainly hunt?"
Hagrid looked at him suspiciously for a while, then hurriedly said, "This hunt is overseen by the Department of Magical Creatures Control at the Ministry of Magic. They'll send people over. There are a whole bunch of laws and regulations, magical creature protection lists and stuff like that. These rules change every year, I don't know them all. Anyway, they'll tell us what we can kill and what we can't touch... Alright, alright, you should get out of here!"
Having seen the woman he had been longing for, and having received important news from Hagrid, Lucas left the Forbidden Forest satisfied.
"Don't worry, Bro," Pepper whispered on his shoulder, "I'll keep a close eye on anything that happens in the Forbidden Forest. When your teachers go into the woods, we'll sneak up behind them and sneak in to pick them up."
""
It grew increasingly excited as it spoke: "Watch your back! I'm coming! Bitch!"
Lucas frowned. "Stop, stop, stop. When did I say I was going into the Forbidden Forest? I don't do things that violate school rules."
Pepper stared at him suspiciously: "Really, Bro? Isn't it against school rules to hook up with a mare and have bestiality?"
"That's not in the school rules!" Lucas said angrily. "I was thinking that when the professors hunt magical creatures, I could ask them for some of their meat so I could start my culinary research!"
"Aha, you didn't deny you wanted to hook up with a mare!" Pepper yelled. "Your fucking fantasies are so twisted!"
