Chapter 116 Let Me Teach You Something Else

Chapter 116 Let Me Teach You Something Else

Night fell.

Lucas finally pushed open the heavy oak door to the principal's office and came out.

"Good night, Professor Dumbledore, Professor Sprout, Professor McGonagall."

Lucas could feel Dumbledore's gentle yet profound gaze still lingering on him before the door closed and the spiral staircase began to descend slowly.

Lucas breathed a sigh of relief. For the past few hours, he had recounted the entire story of what happened at the bottom of the lake in the principal's office, and then faced a barrage of questions from three professors.

Professor Sprout was very worried about Lucas's physical condition, wondering if he had been injured in the fight with dozens of Grindylows. Professor McGonagall, meanwhile, frowned, concerned about Lucas's mental state; otherwise, why would he keep doing such insane things?

Professor Dumbledore was gentle and calm. He spent most of his time thinking, only occasionally asking a few questions about details. His light blue eyes, hidden behind his half-moon lenses, gleamed.

In the end, Lucas received his "verdict." Even though Professor McGonagall was furious, she had to admit that Lucas, despite having done something quite significant, had not violated any school rules and had not caused any serious consequences.

On the contrary, Harry Potter, who rushed out to save Lucas, was penalized twenty points for violating school rules by smearing mud on Professor Snape's face.

Therefore, Lucas was not penalized or put in solitary confinement. He was simply required to report to the professor and obtain permission before entering Black Lake in the future.

So, Lucas walked down the stairs in a lighthearted mood, then descended the castle floor by floor, ignoring the portraits along the way that whispered, "That poor kid got scolded by several professors until midnight," hastily dealing with two bored ghosts who were probably looking for someone to chat with, and jogged all the way back to his Hufflepuff dormitory.

As the rhythm was struck, the wooden bucket lid swung open, releasing warm light and the scents of earth and plants, along with a sudden, unexpected burst of cheers.

"Lucas! You're finally back!"

"Merlin, we were so worried!"

"Lucas is indeed alright. Who said he drowned?"

Hannah lunged forward and hugged Lucas tightly. Susan, Ernie, Zacharys, Oliver, Justin,

Wayne... The first-year students from Hufflepuff gathered around, chattering excitedly to express their concern.

Many upperclassmen from Hufflepuff were also greeting them. For example, Cedric and others brought out two large platters of desserts, including chocolate muffins, jam donuts, strawberry jelly, syrup pies, rice pudding, and several large bowls of mixed ice cream.

These were all brought to Lucas by the house-elves in the kitchen as a token of their appreciation. The elves had hoped to personally deliver them to Mr. McGregor, but Lucas hadn't returned, and being with the wizards made them very uncomfortable, so they had to leave first.

Among the cheering badger cubs were three lion cubs wearing the Lions Club crest and dressed in gold and red. They were Harry, Neville, and Hermione.

Hermione breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Lucas: "Thank goodness, I knew you were alright. Harry, Neville, let's go."

Harry and Neville were completely bewildered. Harry had just hugged Lucas and was about to celebrate with the badgers when Hermione pulled him away.

"I'd like to hear how Lucas fought his way out of the mermaids," Harry said.

"I also want jam donuts and syrup tarts," Nave said.

"No!" Hermione exclaimed. "Students aren't allowed to loiter outside their dormitories after 10 p.m.; it's against school rules! We only have ten minutes to get back to Gryffindor Tower, let's go!"

"Thank you, guys, thank you for waiting for me here," Lucas said. "Hermione, you stay here with Harry and Neville. Hufflepuff's dorms are big enough, we'll find you some comfortable beds."

"I can sleep in the same bed as Lucas," Harry said eagerly.

"Me too. I just saw it; Hufflepuff's dorms are huge, only two beds in one room, and each bed is enormous," Neville said quickly. "I can sleep at Lucas and Harry's heels."

"Oh, bro," Zacharias couldn't help but say, "are you some kind of pathetic house-elf?"

"No way!" Hermione pursed her lips, looking exactly like a miniature version of Professor McGonagall. "There's no rule that allows us to stay overnight in other houses."

"There's no school rule saying you can't," Lucas laughed. "You can stay. I'll tell you about the uses of gill sac grass, the customs, preferences, and culture of mermaids, and how to deal with Grindelwald."

Hermione's eyes lit up, but she hesitated, conflicted: "I...I didn't bring anything. How am I supposed to wash up? And where am I supposed to sleep?"

Lucas: "I unleashed an incredibly powerful blazing fire underwater, and I have some insights into the application of this spell."

"I can share a bed with you too," Hermione said immediately. Hannah's gaze changed instantly, making Hermione realize what she had said. Blushing, she quickly corrected herself, "I mean, I hope we can have a long talk by candlelight."

Looking at this extremely studious little genius, Lucas suddenly remembered something and a brilliant idea flashed in his mind: "I can also teach you all the key points of this spell directly, guaranteed to teach you until you learn it, on the condition that you have to do some small chores for me."

"No problem, what kind of work is it?" Hermione asked as expected.

Lucas laughed: "I need you to compile a list of all the major events in the British magical world from 1940 to the present, arrange them chronologically and give them to me. I don't need detailed explanations; just a one-sentence summary for each event will suffice."

"We need truly impactful events in the wizarding world, not those seemingly exciting but ultimately trivial news stories!"

Oh dear, I'm just too busy, how could I possibly have time to look for this? This kind of tedious work should probably be outsourced!

the next day.

Monday of the second week after Hogwarts started.

The morning sunlight streamed through the windows of Hufflepuff's common room, filling it with a radiant glow. However, the house-elves hadn't had time to clean up yet, leaving the common room a mess after the revelry.

"Good morning, Lucas." The Hufflepuff portrait on the fireplace saw the red-haired boy rushing down the stairs. "Are you going out? Aren't your two Gryffindor friends awake yet?"

"Hello, ma'am. They're still asleep," Lucas greeted.

They were making a ruckus until midnight last night, and now Harry and Neville are sleeping like logs.

"You're up really early," the Hufflepuff portrait winked. "But... I'm afraid someone else is up even earlier than you."

A figure leaped out from the sofa next to the fireplace, two golden braids gleaming in the morning sun.

"Hannah?" Lucas was very surprised. "Why are you up so early?"

"I'm catching you." Hannah stood with her hands on her hips, trying to look serious, but her round face held absolutely no intimidation. "You got me after all, didn't you?"

"Why are you arresting me?" Lucas asked, bewildered.

"To keep an eye on you and prevent you from going out and causing trouble." Hannah said, her face suddenly turning red, and she lowered her hands. "Ahem, this is a task Professor Sprout gave me."

"Professor Sprout?" Lucas was even more confused.

"Yes!" Hannah's face flushed. She lowered her head slightly, her fingers gently twirling the end of her braid. "She told me to keep a close eye on you and not let you mess around anymore."

Professor Sprout also said, "This is a task that only I can complete, hehe."

"Lucas, you can't take reckless risks anymore. I'll be following you and keeping an eye on you."

"Following me the whole time?" Lucas chuckled, exasperated. "What if I go to the bathroom?"

Hannah snorted, "Then I'll wait outside the restroom."

"What about when I'm sleeping? Will you be watching me?"

"Is it okay?" Hannah asked cautiously.

"Of course not!" Lucas said. "That's too outrageous."

"Never mind whether it's weird or not," Hannah said smugly. "Anyway, I'll keep an eye on you, so don't even think about getting rid of me."

This is what Professor Sprout told me to do.

"Okay, okay, Hannah." Lucas raised his hands in a gesture of surrender. "I'm going out now, not for an adventure, but to pick up Ellie. She's been discharged from the hospital."

Hannah exclaimed with delight, "Great! I'll go with you!"

Lucas and Hannah arrived at the school hospital and saw Ellie standing at the entrance. She was tall and healthy, with her honey-colored skin looking exceptionally smooth in the morning light, and her purple eyes shining brightly.

But she was holding her forehead when she said, "Mrs. Pomfrey, I still feel very dizzy. May I stay in the hospital for another half day?"

"Fine." Madam Pomfrey said expressionlessly, "Jump off the tower right now, and I promise you'll stay in the hospital for another three days."

Allie stopped talking, turned around and saw Lucas and Hannah. Her expression immediately brightened, and she broke into a radiant smile.

"Come on, Ellie," Lucas pulled her back. "Let's have breakfast first, then go to class. I bet Professor Snape will be targeting us, we can't be late."

Ellie's smile vanished instantly.

In the dark and cold Potions classroom, Snape and Lucas stared at each other.

Snape: How come the mermaid didn't drown you?

Lucas: Professor, how long has it been since you washed your hair?

"Mr. McGregor," Snape suddenly said fiercely, "if I smell even the slightest scent of something other than potions emanating from your cauldron again, you will be banished from my classroom immediately!"

"Even Merlin couldn't keep you, I'm telling you!"

Lucas swallowed hard, feeling immense pressure. Honestly, although he now understood why his potions turned into soup, those cooking techniques were ingrained in his very being. What if he went astray again? Shouldn't he have been given some time to adjust?

"Today's potion is a hair growth potion." Snape wrote down the key points and steps on the blackboard. This time, the little badgers finally learned their lesson and copied them down along with the eaglets.

"You have an hour and a half." After announcing the start, Snape suddenly smirked maliciously. "I'm going to choose a group as the presentation group... McGregor, McFastie, you two come up to the stage and do it."

Lucas: Snape, you old pervert.

Ellie: I should have jumped off the tower back then.

The two had no choice but to move the materials and equipment to the podium and begin operating right under Snape's nose.

Lucas took a deep breath, the silver knife flashed between his fingers a few times, and he found his footing, slicing towards the slender sage.

With a flash of light and a series of sharp sounds, the sage was reduced to a neat pile of dust.

No matter how many times they looked at it, they couldn't help but think how beautiful the knife skills were. The little badger and the eaglets stared wide-eyed for a moment, then suddenly snapped back to reality, all holding their breath for Lucas.

If we do it again, it won't turn into soup again, will it?

Snape stood at the front of the class, not even deducting points from the other groups. He squinted as Lucas effortlessly chopped the sage, ground the porcupine quills, and steamed the sliced aconite...

Then-

Lucas lightly stepped on Ellie's foot, and Ellie smiled at Snape.

She took the prepared materials directly from Lucas and, following the instructions, put them into the crucible and stirred them in sequence.

Snape: ? ? ?

Students: Oh~

Lucas shrugged. "Can't I just keep my mind blank and focus on cutting the ingredients?"

So, with Snape looking like he'd eaten shit, a decent potion for hair growth was made by Ellie. Its color and smell were basically the same as described in the book, winning cheers from her classmates.

Snape turned his head and glanced at the little badger and the eaglets, who fell silent in fear.

"Very good." He suddenly sneered. "It's time to check yours."

Justin and Wayne abruptly lowered their heads; they'd been so engrossed in watching the spectacle that they hadn't even finished crushing the porcupine quills! Zacharias was desperately pulling the stirring spoon from a crucible of paste. Terry Boot frantically tossed in aconite tablets, resulting in a burst of flames in the crucible. Padma Pettier, who'd been so absorbed in watching that she'd stirred it three extra times, now had a disturbingly green potion—she absolutely couldn't put it on her head...

"Hufflepuff deducts four points." "Ravenclaw deducts three points." "Hufflepuff deducts three points." "Ravenclaw deducts five points."...

Snape was in high spirits, losing points as he went, while his classmates suddenly realized what was happening and were devastated.

Damn it, we're Snape's real target!

In this lesson, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw each lost 20 points.

Monday afternoon is spell class.

Charms class is no longer a large lecture; Professor Flitwick teaches each house individually.

He first led the little badgers in reviewing the levitation spell they had learned in the previous lesson, and then specially asked Lucas and Ellie, who had missed class, to demonstrate it once each.

"Oh! Perfect!" Professor Flitwick happily added five points to each of them as he watched the quill and parchment in front of them fly into the air.

"Today we're going to learn the Illumination Charm," Professor Flitwick said.

He wrote the key points of the Illumination Charm on the blackboard, then demonstrated the pronunciation, gestures, and other details before letting the students practice on their own. Just as Lucas was about to wave his wand, Professor Flitwick appeared before him, smiling, and said, "Lucas, you've mastered the Illumination Charm, haven't you?"

Lucas nodded and waved his hand gently: "Lumos."

"

A soft light hung between the wands, and the little badgers all gasped in surprise. But that wasn't all; Lucas shook his wand again.

"No."

The light vanished instantly. Flitwick exclaimed in delight, "Fantastic! You've mastered even the Extinction Charm perfectly! Hufflepuff +10!"

Then his smile widened: "Professor Dumbledore instructed me that if you have learned what was taught in class, let me teach you something else."
