Spring Breeze Twenty Years

Chapter 1004 The Taste of Life

Chapter 1004 The Taste of Life

Commander Sun smiled and said, "Just give me more of the main work. Construction is all about results and manpower. We're no worse than anyone else. There's so much to do, it's all about opportunity. That applies to people, and it applies to companies. Actually, nobody's any different."

Xiao Wei said, "I agree with that. Okay, if you really want to start a company, just let me know if there's anything I can do for you. I don't have any great abilities, but I might be able to help with small things. As for the project, the contract is with you, so any issues will be handled by you. As for the details, you can decide; I won't interfere."

Regiment Commander Sun said, "That's true, but since all the troops coming will be from brother units, we have to maintain appearances. We can't just send local troops, and we can't let people think we're being too greedy. It's not nice to say."

Xiao Wei said, "You're talking about corporatization, but it's still the old mindset. If you want to run a company, you have to act like one now. I've signed the project contract with you; you're the contractor. Subcontracting to others is subcontracting. You decide what work to do, how much to contract, and how much to pay, understand?"

"I can't control that. You divide the whole project into several parts, specify the cost and timeframe for each part, and list out the parts you want to subcontract. Let them choose. If they can do it, they can do it; if they do it, they'll get paid according to the contract. If they can't, there's nothing to say. This isn't a place for brotherhood."

Commander Sun took off his hat and scratched his head. After thinking for a while, he said, "You're right. I really hadn't quite grasped the idea. Yes, we'll do it your way. If it's going to be corporatized, we'll do it the way a company would."

Xiao Wei asked, "If you set up a company, are we allowed to invest? Ask around, and if it's possible, we'll take a stake. We're already a joint construction unit with the military region, so jointly establishing another construction company should be feasible, right?"

Regiment Commander Sun said, "Then we'll have to discuss it with the division. It's not up to me to decide. This is a serious matter, and it's hard to say."

Xiao Wei said, "We have a lot of work. I own a real estate development company, and we really need a partner for construction projects in the future. I originally wanted to set one up myself, but I couldn't manage it, mainly because it's too specialized. If it's feasible, I can join your team. We'll be like family, and it'll save us a lot of trouble in the collaboration."

Commander Sun asked, "If we're going to cooperate, what percentage do you want to take? And what can you offer? I'm not being picky, I'm just asking casually."

Xiao Wei said, "I'll provide whatever you need. I definitely won't have to worry about the site, vehicles, equipment, money, and the work itself. We'll keep the profits within our own group; our projects will definitely prioritize our own company. It's just that I might have to travel to other places, all over Northeast China, and eventually to Beijing and North China."

Regiment Commander Sun nodded and pondered for a while before saying, "I'll talk to the division commander when I get back. I think it's a good thing. Building everywhere means leaving a name everywhere. To be honest, many construction companies are hoping for this opportunity. I'll talk to him when I get back."

The two of them walked around for most of the time, and Xiaowei said, "This is really too tiring. It's not worth it. Let's put aside the work that hasn't started yet and start it again in the spring. The work won't be delayed. Let's stop work. I won't go into the safety precautions for winter, but make sure everything is in order."

……

After returning from Zhangshi, Xiaowei went to Hunhe again. The entire plot of land was sealed off from both ends, with signs indicating military control and prohibiting entry. The water and electricity had been cut off, so there shouldn't be any problems.

The same goes for Zhongjie. Jie Guangli's demolition team has already withdrawn, their work is over, and now the army has taken over. The entire huge plot of land is covered with a layer of snow and is empty.

The plan to hold a New Year's shopping festival here has been tentatively finalized. Manager Zhang and his team are discussing the details and still need to communicate with the government. Anyway, there's still plenty of time before the New Year.

After checking into the company again and processing a few documents, Xiaowei finally went home.

Chen Hui, that brat, ran back as soon as he arrived in Fengtian, saying he missed his son. Who knows if he really missed his son or his son's mother?

In Northeast China, winter days are short. It gets dark as early as four o'clock, and the lights in the upstairs houses are on as everyone prepares dinner.

Because everything was covered in snow, it looked particularly desolate and empty, like a black and white photograph.

The big yellow dog stood in the corner of the garage. It was getting cold, and Xiaowei's dad had moved its den, that little wooden villa, to the innermost garage, where there was heating.

They specially hired a worker to make a small door on the garage's roller shutter door and hung a small curtain on it. Now, all that's missing for Da Huang is a wife; the garage and house have already been taken care of.

Upon seeing Xiaowei, Dahuang waddled over to greet him, its already somewhat plump body gleaming like satin thanks to its good diet. Dahuang rarely leaves the yard unless someone is there to take care of it; it's fortunate the yard is large enough, otherwise it would probably be even fatter.

The geese stood as usual in the woods opposite the garage; this was their territory, and they kept to themselves, not interfering with Big Yellow. Normally, only family members, chickens, and ducks were allowed to stroll in the woods, and Big Yellow had to be careful even when it came in.

I don't know if it's thanks to Dahuang or the geese, but there are very few mice in the yard, practically none. Xiaowei's mom says they're the geese, so they must be. Although the chickens aren't too happy about it, they're also experts at chasing mice.

Goose hunting mice is a form of guarding. They are not fast runners, but they are very patient. If they find a mouse hole, then that mouse can basically say goodbye to that hole. They can guard it for a month and wait for the mouse to come out.

Chickens are different. They don't have the patience to guard their burrows, but they run fast and have sharp beaks. A few chickens can chase mice so fast that they don't even have time to get back to their burrows, leaving them covered in bites. Especially when they have chicks, mice are the chickens' greatest enemy.

Ducks, aside from laying eggs and quacking, are only good for being a dish.

Xiao Wei's dad rode in on his bicycle, looking like he'd gone to the farmers' market. He parked the bike in the garage, then came out carrying his groceries: "When did you get back?"

Xiao Wei took the bag from his father and said, "I just entered the hospital. I came back at noon and looked around."

Xiao Wei's dad opened the other bag he was carrying; inside were vegetable leaves he'd gotten from the market, which looked like they'd already been chopped. He called out, and the goose responded with a quack and slowly walked over.

Xiao Wei's dad dumped the vegetable leaves on the roadside, and the geese started eating them. The chickens and ducks also came over to snatch them. Da Huang went to smell them and snorted in disgust.

The father and son walked towards the main building. Xiaowei's father said, "We're familiar with going to buy things every day. I'll ask them to chop up the vegetable scraps they picked out for me, so I can feed the geese."

Xiao Wei smiled. The cafeteria buys so many vegetables every day, everyone knows Lao Zhang. Let alone chopping some leafy greens, they'd fight over if they could chop a whole bag of vegetables a day.
